Remember these commanders who were almost fully implemented. Is there any information what units and abilities the remaining two commanders should have? Why weren’t they added and can we get them?
I think it would make this more of a trade-off than it is; I personally am sympathetic to those not wanting to nerf or remove this ability but making it a vet 1 ability would make this more like the desperate act that it should be than a 300mp 90fu snare.
This will make her an even more stupid ability. Now it’s just a suicide ability in a game that is based on gaining experience and maintaining the unit. With vet, this will be even more ridiculous - you put your control into it, saved it, got vet which should give even greater survival. But instead, get the opportunity to make him suicide. No, moving a ram into vet is one of the worst ideas I've heard.
T-34 ram + ML-20 was the only way to destroy the Elephant. Ramming is a dumb ability now. A game in which saving a unit and getting maximum veteranism for it is one of the key mechanic, we have a mechanic - make suicide for your unit. This is stupid, and therefore the ram theme constantly appears again and again.
- T-34-85 should receive smoke instead of ram. He already has smoke bombs on the tank. And it will not be as strong smoke as German tanks. This smoke is similar to Churchill smoke but without slowing down the speed of the tank. His first veteran is just as stupid, it's more appropriate to give him a subcaliber projectile. It doesn't matter which one shot like Pershing or a few seconds of shooting.
- T-34-76, we say that this tank is flank, but it does not correspond to its role. For the T-34-76, the ability to "fire and maneuver" is increased speed of the tank and the speed of rotation of the turret. This is vital because of the worst armor penetration of the T-34-76.
And again this topic and again the excuse of stupid design. Yes, the design is unique but this does not justify the fact that it is extremely poorly designed. I personally consider replacing the Assault Guard - one this term is already unhistorical. Either for access to the Allied arms racks (maybe with an overpayment for balance) or give an Assault kit for Conscripts (gives 4 Thompson and replaces Molotov with a grenade) and Bazooka upgrade for Penalties (replacing PTRS kit)
The 5th Grenadier can be as an alternative to MG-42 under the title “Experience of the Eastern Front” and gives a non-commissioned officer with SVT-40 and two more SVT for the detachment (in general, three SVT-40) or as already implemented 5 people the ability is more placed in existing commanders.
The War Theater came out as cheap as the whole Company of Heroes 2 in general. It could become a very interesting set of mini stories, but it turned out to be one cooperative mission, one single mission and several skirmish. Theater of War is a big missed potential. It was possible to make a campaign entirely dedicated to a particular theater of war, as the name says. Take Stalingrad - to tell about the Italian and Romanian troops about their history and fate and other things like that. It could be very interesting. Yes, probably the price should have been more than it was. But if the product is high-quality and interesting, I would buy it.
It’s also fragile vs TDs, high cost for a medium, needs vet to get extra armour and can easily be zoned out by AT and TDs.
Excellent medium and in my view a must build workhorse for Ostheer, but in no way overpowered.
Really a very strange comparison. The main role of the TD is the destruction of tanks, but we do not complain that TDs are absolutely useless against infantry.
If we talk on the topic, then I agree. Pz.4 is the best tank of tanks with a similar price. He just has OP anti infantry capabilities, good AT capabilities, an excellent first veteran ability. Plus has a strong doctrinal bonus like smoke.
Band of Brothers too right? I mean the title of the game is from a quote from the guy who was the CO of Easy Company (the company depicted in Band of Brothers for those who havent seen)
The original campaign and Ardennes Assault are both pretty bad:
Original Campaign:
Ardennes Assault:
And all of them are just a shadow on compared to the original Company of Heroes. And this is quite expected - the original Company of Heroes copied the plots and scenes of such films as: "Saving Private Rain", "Brothers in Arms", "The Bridge is Too Far". And they did it qualitatively with an interesting continuation. And as expected, both Company of Heroes 2 campaigns turned out bad, if we take the terrible film as a basis and continue it awfully. When the game is pursued by cheapness and rush.
Maybe it‘s not a true VDV doctrine, but definetly oriented on air support. I read about air supply by Red Army of partisans and friendly units in the rear of the German army, this part quite good represented by airdrops with SVT-40/PPSh-41 or DShK.
VDV is only part here, represented by rally points and paratroopers themselfs.
I don‘t remember the exact thread, but iirc, during pre-test discussions, Crecer13 provide some photos of soviet paratroopers with exact camo, which is used in the game by soviet sniper, shocktroops and now by paratroopers as well, so paratroopers model is kinda aesthetic.
It is not the first time, when several units based on one model (see stormtroopers/panzergrenadiers/JLI/JCS or Ostheer Sniper/OKW sturmofficer). In that case, it is not the problem, that paratroopers have the same model with sniper.
The problem is, that in-game soviet paratroopers looks like copy of in-game american paratroopers, but worse in head to head comparison, with same (?) huge price, and without democharge.
Also, i can agree with mentioned above, that soviets have to much mainline infantry units, and penals with PPSh-41 or Conscripts with SVT-40 just overshadow soviet paratroopers in the their current state.
It’s not only that the paratroopers used a camouflage suit, it’s a unique and recognizable image - when we see the US airborne airborne skin - we know exactly who they are, Fallschirmjägers - the same story, photos of British, Italian, Japanese airborne forces - you’ll understand that this is the airborne forces . And the USSR also has this image. The same amoeba camouflage suit was used by: engineers, scouts, snipers, saboteurs, artillery observers, officers, and even regular infantry if their commander had good communications. And CoH has always tried to implement unique and recognizable skins, for better distinction, for greater pleasure.
