It's certainly less reliable than a pershing as I'd say every 5th shot is a complete miss against inf even when stationary. And around every 6 shots is a squad wipe. It certainly hit inf more reliably than a panther. The persh gets a squad wipe every 4 shots on average. IS2 owns persh on survivability and they have similar RoF and penetration against armor. In summary, this is a L2P issue. Yeah, he's good. Therefore, no one uses it. In: COH2 Balance

Comparing Soviet units and USF units is misleading since the factions are differently designed. In addition Paras/Ranger are CP 3/ have to pay munition for weapons and have to worth building over riflemen who are better than conscripts. As I have explained default weapons should follow weapon profiles and not stretched to fit units. If a unit is designed for mid range, it needs a mid range weapon and not a smg. Finally keep in mind that Thompson is a weapon upgrade, not default weapon and has to justify cost. Your suggestion is far from a no-brainer. Shoocks are a super close quarters combat unit, it deals damage only to the distance of the punch (and that's why the impossibility of simultaneous use of smoke and fragmentation destroyed this unit). If they increase the distance to the level of the Ranger/Paratrooper, it is still a close distance and not an middle distance. In: COH2 Balance

In exchange shocks get PPSh range increased, in combination with SVT's it would make Shocks useful at midrange Thats how Paratroopers/PPSh cons work, it's not just about point blank dps, it's about ability to do some damage on the move/midrange instead of just doing nothing but bleeding themselves to death like Shocks do now Maybe 4 trophy STG-44 to increase the range or 6 AVT-40, it's all the same SVT-40 only add short burst (I think it's quite possible) In: COH2 Balance

Wouldn't giving them higher accuracy make them super OP too? This seems surprising, but the PPSh-41 has a very smooth recoil and is very easily controlled and better controlled than Thompson. I don't think that increasing range and damage to Ranger / Paratrooper level will do their OP: - Ranger / Paratrooper not OP - Ranger / Paratroopers have two more great advantages: the best grenade, self-healing. Two things that are minimally required for Shock Troops: - Increase the range and damage to Rangers and Paratroopers level (it's funny that the 45ACP has more range than 7.62TT, because it is absolutely the reverse) - Return the use of the smoke grenade separately from the fragmentation.
