Cannon and flamethrower - сoaxial, fire range of the flamethrower - 110 meters. The game is implemented that you can simultaneously shoot from the main gun and coaxial machine gun, although there is also different balistics.
If you look from the game point of view: the KV-8 armor is bad, it can be punched by any AT weapon. As soon as the KV-8 enters the battlefield, this is the number one target and this is an easy target. The fact that main gunwas buff was nothing - either you do a little damage to the tanks or you do damage to the infantry.
KV-8 is still not a reliable tank. KV-8 must simultaneously shoot from the main gun and flamethrower. I looked through dozens of different articles about the KV-8 and it is nowhere written that it is impossible. This is possible - the control of the gun and the flamethrower is made by one person - the gunner; for aiming is used one sight.
People don't understand that "symmetrical" Maps doesn't mean carbon copy maps split in half. A map can look and have different variety as long as it doesn't give one side an advantage (IE as you said Road to Cutoff and GG north spawn the map). One of the worse things, in my opinion, that has been done to maps is that one side is literally closer to the center of the map than the other side. That's just inexcusable for competitive maps. Asymmetrical maps are immensely bad for game balance, I mean just look at the worst maps in the map pool all of them are asymmetrical in some way that makes spawning on one side a huge disadvantage.
Honestly, at this point, it seems like half the community sees the word symmetrical as a bad thing even if they have no idea what it means.
I don't care about balance, I don't care about competitions. I love to play and I play. I play from any side and I can win. I think that complex non-symmetrical and non-mirror maps and some imbalance makes the game interesting. If I wanted to play play symmetrical maps / factions - I would play chess.
At this point you simply have to argue your case with wikipedia:
"Shock troops or assault troops are formations created to lead an attack. They are often better trained and equipped than other infantry, and expected to take heavy casualties even in successful operations."
and guess what Soviet shock armies are included in the explanation of shock troops.
The simple fact remains shock troops are offensive assault troops.
Shock troops existed only in the Tsarist Army.
In the Red Army there were only Shock Armies - these were reinforced Armies as part of the shock army there were up to 20 rifle divisions (the usual army of 9-12 divisions), the soldiers of the Shock Army did not have the title Shock Troops, such as the Guards Armies had the title Guards.
The structure of the Shock Armies included the usual rifle and tank divisions, they did not have a title, for example: the shock rifle division.
About gaming shock troops, it would be cool to go back to the old concept: when the shock troops came with rifles. But now they will come out with six SVT-40s and have two upgrade options:
- Two DP-27
- replace rifles with six PPSh-41 as it was at the start of the game.
Then overwatch would be way too much of a muni strain. You couldn't use it because of goliath and vice versa.
In regards to KV-8, that's not possible, because contrary to churchill croc, KV-8 uses same barrel for cannon and flamer, while churchills flamer was mounted on the hull. Yes, soviets literally plugged fuel hose to gun barrel and started going wild with it.
It however could go same way as churchill went and its cannon could be improved.
Not damage obviously, but I'd personally go with either RoF or penetration. Its more obvious way then buffing flamer in any way and with its new vet, its durable enough once it reaches it.
No, this is a coaxial flamethrower, in fact it is the same KV-1, only instead of a coaxial machine gun installed flamethrower. Both weapons use one sight, so that the KV-8 can simultaneously use a gun and a flamethrower. The flamethrower does not use diesel fuel for the engine. The tank has barrels for 690 liters of fire mixture (40% kerosene and 60% fuel oil).
1) Shock Troops appear in game in Stalingrad, that means that the unit is inspired to the elite shock army troops deployed in the closing day of the battle, when soviets where litterally fighting for Volga docks. NO UNIT in coh 2 campaign (or any coh campaign) breaks any time rule.
Germans lack a long barrelled vehicle for half the campaign. Not even ToW allows you to deploy units that weren't deployed by the time period you are playing on.
2) No quote, equipment, descrition and ability shows that they are ass engies
3) Those assault engineers weren't named Shock Troops, while the Shock Troops where the elite division deployed months after Barbarossa start.
Feelings from you:
1) They are assault engineers because i say so
2) Relic units aren't historically accurate because i say so, but only to the degree that i like.
Shock armies which were created from November 1941 are ordinary reinforced armies. Compared with the usual army they had more tanks, guns and mortars.
If you recall the old and historical commander of the Theater of War: in 1941 were available:
- Shock Troops. dressed in SN-42, but it is clear from the name that this was developed in 1942
- Guardsmen, Guard title was founded on May 21, 1942.
these are soldiers of the 1st Assault Engineering-Sapper Brigade in street fighting, Central Front, September 1943. Let me remind you the 1st Assault Engineering-Sapper Brigade was formed in May-June 1943.
Now Relic doesn't make historically accurate unit, yet you somehow keep saying that ShockTroops are a representation of these "assault engineers" except every single thing of this unit is telling otherwise.
You are simply in denial
No man, a few people gave you the facts. here you are in denial.
I think Overwatch could use a copy of sector artillery rather than leFH.
I also think KV-8 should be allowed to fire it's weak gun while also using the flamethrower, like the Crocodile. It's such a weak gun against armor anyway and the flamethrower is so much better vs infantry, so I don't see the point of the weapon toggle. It's the only vehicle in the game with a largely unused fire mode.
I suggested simultaneous use the gun and flamethrower from the KV-8 two years ago. And then I was told that this is a total OP. Now that this is a small buff.
