King Tiger had the same hp/ton as the Pershing, having a 700hp maybach engine. It also had over 15 degrees per second of turret traverse compared to the pre war levels of the is2 with only 10 degrees.
We already know you have no clue of how these machine performed, from crane reload of the sturmtiger to the "underpower" tiger engine, and realism isn't a balance argument.
Just stick to trying to provoke Vipper will ya ?
The speed of rotation of the IS-2 turret was 13–16 ° per second, that is, a full turn of the tower required 22–28 s.
This is not a universal rule. In fact, the IS-2's DT-25T HE and AP shells had the same muzzle velocity.
Precisely, all three main rounds:
- Armor-piercing
- High-explosive-fragmentation
- Fragmentation chemical (smoke)
They had the same starting speed: 800 meters per second.
It also used HE shells exclusively and those shells fired at a lower velocity than the 88. So it wasn't really strong vs late war german armour, i'd like to see it perform similarly to the sturmtiger, or brummbar with a little more AT for difference.
Actually the opposite. Due to the fact that the late German tanks were made of crappy metal and crappy welding. Getting the 122/152-mm AP/HE projectile just breaking the King Tiger at the seams. But you will not see such with the Elephant which was made with high-quality steel.
IS2 has it's uses on 1v1 and 2v2. Historically since the removal of multiple heavy tanks, they are not worth in 3v3+. This should be a huge clarification when talking about the worth of a unit. By contrast, super heavies behave in opposite ways.
IS2 IMO sees little use due to the commanders they are in. Whenever Shocks/KV8 are good, IS2 sees more use which is something which will change in the future patch.
Note: calling something OP or UP is entirely depending on meta and current power level of units.
I constantly use the IS-2 and the shock troops commander, because the shock troops for me are the main infantry and this commander has many useful abilities: ZIS-3 camouflage and incendiary strike. But even with the availability of resources, I will not take the IS-2 is a useless tank.
I like mines right now. They are excellent help in the defense of positions, the only thing that would be cool PMD-6 mines were set as a minefield (like German). And mine PMD-6M (light anti-tank mines) its after war modification, replaced by TMD-40 mines (Make a copy from German Rigel mine)
Strange how more people think the IS-2 is fine, yet that KT needs buffs.
People just want to return those times when almost every KT shot is six people wipe. KT can do that now, but people want to return the Totalalic OP. But at the same time they claim that the IS-2 is absolutely fine, but it is not so: his gun constantly misses in huge blob of infantry or does not penetrate armor. IS-2 just does not cause damage. You practically will not see the 3rd level of the IS-2 veterancy and very often you will see the 3-5th level of the RT veterancy.
Buying an IS-2 is the worst investment of resources you have. Just buy SU-85 plus Katyusha.
IS-2 is not bad with the 2nd veteran level, but there is a main problem: the main gun of IS-2 does not cause damage, no damage - no vet - no sense.
We must look wider. Most Soviet 1st level veteran are useless.
Capturing points for tanks is a useless ability. This ability must be for a fast tank without veterancy (T-70, T-34-76 / 85) and have a new unique 1st level veterancy ability. For a heavy tank, another new unique 1st level of veterancy is needed or even two.
Katyusha 1st level veteran? Absolutely useless and never use.
RGD-33 Fragmentation Grenade (Affects Partisans, but not Shocks)
* AOE far damage reduced from 0.5 to 0.25 (Same as MK2)
* Ready aim time increased from 0.125 to 0.625 (to match MK2 overall delay). Later this change was reverted.
* Munitions cost reduced from 45 to 35. Later to 30
Up to debate, but if say we nerf the damage from bundles nades and we make them cheaper. Is that a nerf or a buff.
Question: doesn't this mean that grenades deal way less dmg to garrison unit (one of the main purposes of nades).
The Guard grenade is so disgusting when I throw it at MG-42 in a building or a squad of infantry that doesn't even move. RGD-33: Poof, go fuck you and do not joke damage.
