Thread: Revitalizing the COH2 community?9 Feb 2014, 13:40 PM What kept me playing some time before, was free content. I know you guys are running a business and can´t give everything new away for free. But I would think player numbers would go up again if you just released some new free commanders like the community defense commanders, German infantry commander etc. It doesn´t have to be big. Also after some time with always the same units every game will come to the point where there´s nothing new. Adding even one new unit for everybody in a free doctrine (like the new, big Russian MG) could change that. Maybe a Su-100 or a Jagdpanzer IV doctrine. In: Lobby
Thread: Soviet mines needs at least 2x cost for its effectiveness7 Feb 2014, 15:18 PM It´s not that Soviet mines are too cheap or too strong. It´s German anti infantry mines being almost useless. It should be possible to build those as single mines and there should be no sign marking them. Placing a single quadrant of them atm. is possible, but no option against an equal skilled player. The micro is needed elsewhere. I wouldn´t even mind if their price went up to 25-30 munitions for a single quadrant. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Stug III vet3 armor (video)6 Feb 2014, 22:21 PM I can´t stand all this whining about poor Russian tanks. Actually Russians get out pretty well with their armor. Realism is already flipped in their favor. Their outdated heavy tanks (KV-1) deflect shots, their outdated T-34/76 goes through German frontal armor. Their Su-85 with primitive optics gets superb range. ISU-152 and IS-2 get a ridiculous high rate of fire. And on a regular basis German heavies can be penetrated by 85mms. Yet that isn´t enough. God forbid the StuG gets buffed. In: COH2 Balance

That wouldn´t change a thing as the penetration of the 75mm/L48 would still be over their armor. StuGs atm are meh. They get two shot by IS-2, ISU, KV2 and even T-34/85 with the mark target ability. Thread: Stug III vet3 armor (video)6 Feb 2014, 10:24 AM German vehicle armor is underperforming anyways in this game. The T-34/76 was so much buffed that StuG and Panzer IV frontal armor is too often penetrated. It was 80mm of frontal armor ffs which was only penetrated at point blank range by the 76mm guns. The nerf to German armor vet (no blitz with engine damage, less armor on vet 2) was also too much in combination with the buff of the T-34. At least give the StuG it´s historical frontal armor. Either that or more range on the gun. In: COH2 Balance

But spotting for itself is allowed on a non doctrinal SU-85. Thus I can expect that from a doctrinal ability. I made the experience that scopes on an Elefant can be an annoyance. If it has to turn the hull to shoot at the enemy at maximum vision, the effect of scopes is lost and the vision is gone. The Elefant will then shoot and adjust its hull on something else that´s closer. The target far away has escaped. In: Ostheer Strategies

Panzergrens are good as they are. Buffing their Stg44 would only throw the balance off versus conscripts and make PGs overpowered. There is no need to buff them. Buffing any unit to an OP state to counter another OP unit isn´t the way to go. This would only result in people using only those units. What´s needed is either a nerf to shocktrooper armor or (preferably) setting them to 2cp. In: COH2 Balance

Yet as soon as tanks hit the field soviets have to do the exact same thing but versus tanks that aren't even the most extra expensive one yet then Germans take the l2p approach. Just to spell it out for you mid/late game: Soviets: need to have a combination of zis guns, consrcipts, su85s, t34s, and mines to support each other. These need to all be in the same area to support each other. If a panther (or tiger) flanks you you have to retreat out often losing a lot of units because they can't just retreat in god mode like infantry. The German player can do this frontally just by blowing smoke canisters, or using the vin diesel nos button German: pick doctrine with tiger (luckily everyone gets panthers) --> left click --> right click --> profit So realistically what's "worse" ... Being forced to play well for tgr first 5 or 10 minutes or the rest of the game? Personally I prefer the challenge later which is why I prefer soviets I could follow that logic if Panthers were able to cap the whole map (like Shocks) and Shocktroops could receive engine/ leg damage (like the Panther). As it stands Russians have it a lot easier. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Shocktroops at 1CP30 Jan 2014, 18:11 PM The problem I have with the early game atm: German player: You need a combination of MG42 and supporting Grens. Those need to be all in one area to support each other. If shocks flank you, you need to retreat everything. This can even happen when running frontally into the MG42. Just pop smoke and throw in the Russian blob. Soviet player: Choose a doctrine with PPSH + Shocks --> left klick + right klick --> profit Russians just run around capping the map. PPSHs can all shoot while running which is imo the biggest advantage. In: COH2 Balance

The Zis 3 had no problem at all, and neither did the SU-76 and the T-34/76. Agreed. I think the side armor of the Panther is too strong. However it´s front armor is too weak atm. So is it´s superb gun that could engage enemy armor at the longest ranges. More range, more frontal armor and less survivability from the side for the Panther is what I´d like to see. That depends on the angle. If the Tiger etc. is caught at a 90° angle it will get destroyed. If however angled, the odds are better. Germans called that Mahlzeitstellung.
