They didn't dodge the question, in fact they answered it several times, saying that things like lobby and ladder were not only in their hand but also a part Steam. They are working on adding it, but can't give a date because third parties are involved.... Also, you CAN play any map of choice, with your friends, with any winning condition of choice. Go to "onling & skirmish" -> "Custom game" -> "invite" -> ... add computers, choose map, change conditions however you like... Now go into your corner and feel ashamed. No - that's lobby - as in chat - and ladder - as in ranked result from a game. There's no mention AT ALL of what people want - which I was particular in thoroughly detailing. And yes - your weak example of "It's already there" is only applicable IF YOU KNOW THE PEOPLE AND THEY ARE ON YOUR STEAM FRIENDS LIST. Congratulations - you can now play multiplayer with the 2 other people you know that have the game. Don't be deliberately ignorant in simplifying the discussion to suit your narrow point of view. You know how the match making worked in COH1 - we want match making with RANDOM players that can JOIN your game - thats all players want. So maybe you should check your own attitude at the door - along with your high horse. Then again - maybe you've never played COH and have no idea as to what I'm talking about.....never know....there's a lot of uniformed people making arguments these days. In: COH2 Gameplay

If you can't play the ball - you play the man - the same goes for anybody else not ADDING anything to the discussion here. I think people again are missing the biggest gripe - and that is the multiplayer ability to match make on YOUR terms. This wasn't available in some patch years after the release of COH1, or in some expansion pack etc - it was available on DAY 1 of COH's release - hence it is FAIR AND REASONABLE to expect the same in COH2 ON RELEASE also. Its the biggest thread on the developers forum also - its what the players want. The devs have dodged the question on this thread enough to tell me that this basic element that was available day 1 with COH1 won't be in COH2 in any hurry - to me - and many others who like to match make with our map of choice, conditions of choice and players of choice, this is a bad thing and enough to keep me from playing given the current state of online play/match making. If the dev's can't even acknowledge that this is an issue - COH2's multiplayer days are going to be quite short. That all said - there's no point going any further with the discussion - those that see problems see them and voice concern in hope that they'll be addressed - others who don't see the problems see that any criticism is BAD and hence they feel ENTITLED to insult or belittle posters who have an alternate view as their own. It was broken back in closed beta and then the commander was removed for a bit. When he was re-introduced strafe was still broke. So while we're not demanding instant fixes or anything but game breaking balance issues should probably be fixed faster than two months. IMO. It's not that I'm entitled or anything, but it is legitimately hurting the auto-match experience for thousands of people, especially in team games. I have dozens of friends that outright stopped playing or refused to buy the game until strafe is fixed. Considering they've ducked that direct question FOUR times on this very thread in regards to the match making etc - I wouldn't hold my breath for this feature to come back anytime soon. And for those that feel we're acting "entitled" or being "assholes" etc - seriously - you PAID for this and if you feel like you got what you paid for great - however you should try and think a little more in that these "assholes" are TRYING to make YOUR game a BETTER one. So a little more thoughtfulness - a little less attitude - and we'll ALL have a game we like. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thus I got to interact with the THQ/UFC fanbase a bit. They had a number of technical issues with the game that they wanted to be fixed. To keep people from complaining THQ promised a patch. They went through three community managers, all who promised a patch was almost done. I believe that patch still hasn't come out yet. My goal is to make sure that sort of thing never happens to CoH 2. If we say we're going to do something, I want to make sure we're going to do it. Noun - it really sounds like you're caught between a rock and hard place - and I really respect that you go online and try - to the best of your role allows - to meet the needs of your community. I didn't try and ask for a date or a road map etc - not a specific balancing issue etc - just something that we expected to be there as part of the game from day 1 as it was in COH 1 and nearly every other game out there. Your lack of a direct response to this most basic of requests really worries me in that as you don't wont to over promise anything - you don't want to acknowledge the question at all. That effectively tells me this probably won't happen - and we'll be stuck with the system you have in place now. I really, truly, hope that I am completely wrong here as I want to one day enjoy COH 2 as much as I do COH 1 - but without this most basic feature - and worse - no discussion/acknowledge of it - it doesn't look like I'll be able to. If all we did was play the game then updates would take longer, we have to actually work on it. We employ some top level players. Is everyone who works at Relic a top level player? Nope. I'm not, for example. But the people who've played our balance testers tend to find them pretty good players. If you want to put some arbitrary metrics on what you consider the game as being DOA, that's up to you. We'll continue to support the game regardless, and work to make it even better for all the fans. We'd love for you to be one of those, and to have a dialogue about it, but there's not point if at all points we keep getting, "Either do this or the game is DOA." It's also important to remember that we have an entire community to service and support. The competitive community is a small part of that. An important part and a part that we want to grow and nurture, but it's only a part. CoH2.org has what, 2,760 members? That's a sliver of the community. Even if you throw the official forums in there we're talking about a small fraction. You guys are absolutely important, and to be honest you have far more of a voice in how the game is developed than most fans, but we have to work for everyone. Just because there's a thread that says, "This is the most important thing and if Relic doesn't do it now the game is DOA", doesn't mean it's important to anyone other than the people in that thread. If everyone in that thread agrees with them. It's good to see that some people in the thread here see that we're working hard, and with the community. We really think that's important and how to improve the game. We love your passion for it, and we realize that if you didn't love the game you wouldn't be on a message forum posting about it. It's clear that you're not living up to your expectations. However we're living up to ours currently, apart from leaderboards. We're going to continue to work to provide what we feel is a fantastic experience playing the game and continue to improve it. This process will take years, as it did with the original. It's a journey as much as a destination. We look forward to taking that journey with the fans. So still nothing in regards to what we want - i.e. COH1 custom game ability etc. Yep - they're "working on it"..... In: COH2 Gameplay

If you believe games should ship without bugs then you're going to be very disappointed because it will never happen. No - I don't agree with your point - I expect a game to be supported even if it cost $20. That's the problem here - the price of admission was set VERY high - and once admitted people realized "hang on a second - this isn't worth what I paid for". It's like buying a Porsche (for the relative $ we're talking here) and finding the most basic of items not working to a standard that equated to the price. The REAL problem here is that well polished games such as Borderlands 2, BioShock Infinite, Far Cry 3 etc were all polished out of the box ready to go - and I believe they were cheaper too. So if you think its fine and dandy - then thats great - but I believe you're in a significant minority there. In: COH2 Gameplay

We should be thankful that Relic don't have to pay to submit a patch to steam or we would never get any fixes. Yep - I'm sure those that shelled out $100 for the special edition or whatever are really "grateful". In: COH2 Gameplay
