However, if I want to play PVP in a Relic game, I think COH2 is my best bet at this point. I'll probably go through the COH campaigns at some point but COH2 is keeping me busy for now. I don't know about that.....maybe you should try a PvP in COH1. I suggest you try German as they play similar to COH2. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: COH HD?28 Aug 2013, 16:11 PM Quite possibly it does - I'm more so concerned about the MP connections and support - they (as in Dev's) need a financial incentive to do it - hence package it all up, slap a "HD" on it and sell it to the community. Win-Win all round. In: COH Central

They've IIRC already announced that they're going to be working on all new maps going forward, right? I think you should buy yourself a copy of COH 1 and see what you were missing out on....best $5 you'll ever spend. That THQ Humble Bundle was awesome. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: COH HD?28 Aug 2013, 16:01 PM Seeing as they released AOE 2 HD....why couldn't they do the same with COH? In doing so they could keep the same great game JUST AS IT IS and then fix the things that need it such as dedicated servers (i.e. no more P2P) and support. Then they have an income coming in to not only support the game - but also add to Sega's bottom line AND we get our game back. COH 2 is just not doing it for a lot of people (if its floating your boat - then more power to you) - and if reboots are already accepted in the market place - then why not make a great game better? We get the game - We get support - SEGA/RELIC get their cash - it's a win/win all round. I certainly know I'd be happy to stump up $29.95 for COH HD - and I'm probably not alone. In: COH Central

Jump back to quoted post14 Aug 2013, 03:21 AMSepha 7 years of experience doesn't equate to 7 years of game development, you can't simply apply 7 years of post-game support and patches to CoH2 that had a smaller development time and has barely been out for 2 months. Take into consideration also that if certain features and mechanics in the game are too similar too the original then they run the risk of the game not being unique enough, on the flip side the less the game is like the original, the more development and risk that is going to take so there has to be a balance. Sepha - if I were talking about the more advanced elements such as Commanders or Unit Balance etc - then you might have a leg to stand on in regards to that point of view - but I wasn't even taking my discussion that far as even the most basic of elements are so poor in this game that you simply can't excuse it. The multiplayer is a complete farce. If you've done something for SEVEN YEARS - and then went and started a new project that was HEAVILY RELIANT on what you'd done in those 7 years....and went on to produce COH2...which essentially overlooks most of the benefits of those 7 years, and we're talking non unit/balance, just pure matchmaking/online mechanics.....especially when you're using THE SAME P2P mechanics from those previous 7 years, I don't think you can argue that what you did before with COH1 wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't have been considered as day 1 basics for COH2. One who buys - suddenly has no p2p problems, one who doesn't still does? And both of those versions exist simultaneously??? Why couldn't it be say the DLC was effectively a code that enabled you access to a new server which then required a new patch etc? Sure it's now divergent from COH 1 - BUT you have a supported version where you're "DLC" is actually support? COH would exist on as it does now - COH (New Steam Version) - and with it you can still play as it stands today - the single player options and the gimped multiplayer with all it's short comings. BUT then DLC version - which you pay say $10 for - would enable you to access the "premium" server - so that nobody is disenfranchised. Think of it as BF3 Premium - you're just paying for the "privilege" of a superior gaming experience. Sure DLC sucks - and sure the whole movement of the industry to user pays - and then pays some more sucks too - BUT when you look at the lifespan of COH1, you could fairly argue that it's not "unfair" to expect users to kick in a bit more to continue that game. Though we all know these thoughts will never eventuate - so COH will remain as it does now and I don't see that changing any time soon UNLESS there's a financial incentive - money makes the world go round unfortunately. Thread: Too many players left...13 Aug 2013, 15:50 PM Ah the "You cant compare COH with 7 years vs COH 2 with none" argument... This is where logic is always great. Wouldn't that 7 years of EXPERIENCE in COH be then APPLIED to COH 2? You know - it's Company of Heroes 2 - so by all rights - shouldn't they have learned from mistakes and experiences made in 1? Or is this a completely brand new game with zero connection and thus it's unfair to do such a comparison? Then I say - wouldn't it be fair then for this game to not even be called "Company of Heroes' then.... Gee - I wonder how well sales would be then.... Bottom line - they spend 7 years making a great game even better - people are simply frustrated as to why none of this experience was taken to make the next game. And then we get the reply of "You can't compare the two..." If my friend had money issues, all he would have to do is ask me. I'm not talking about thousands of dollars. If Relic, CoH2.org, GameReplays.org just did a simple poll on how many people would be willing to donate for a patch for the New Steam version of Company of Heroes, I estimate anywhere between 1,000-15,000 fans would donate "something." Most fans being older and more mature now, I assume it wouldn't even be a problem. I don't know exactly how much it would cost to develop something we would be satisfied with, it isn't much, at at least connection issues. Maybe it's time that Relic is struggling with...I don't know, but if it's a monetary issue I just want Relic to know I would donate to them and they shouldn't be embarrassed to ask me for money for a service I expect from them. I guess I'm rambling now about nothing, but I just wanted to express my opinion on the situation Smack on. We're not asking for much as COH 1 is very complete as it is - no need for balancing or new units or game modes or skins or maps or ANYTHING that would take significant resources. All we need is the network maintenance that provides the gaming architecture - nothing more. I'm sure there's a lot of us old COH players that would definitely contribute to this. Its not resource intensive and it shouldn't take away any of the direction the company is trying to take their franchise in with COH 2 - you just put on a small team on contract and get them to update the MINOR issues with COH 1 and then you can SELL it as COH DLC that MANY COH players would gladly accept. Sega makes money - Relic makes money - and we get COH back. Win - Win - Win - it quite frankly doesn't get any simpler than that. In: COH Central

I understand the budget costs and reality of business - and I understand COH 1 is an older game - so that said I also understand that there's a large COH community out there that would ALSO understand this and they in turn would understand that Relic would require FUNDS to continue supporting COH 1.
