You don't said "the most cost efficient allround unit", you said "the most cost efficient AT unit". PFs have higher AT alpha damage and higher AT DPS too if you factor in their higher penetration. In addition their vet1 ability to spot with flares comes in very handy. Assault Guards wil be better at AI to make up for that. Both units are pretty cost efficient overall. In: COH2 Balance

Since hull down grants 25% damage reduction it isn't 960 HP anymore. It is 1280 HP with 62,5 range and 260 frontal armour. My guess: It will lead to even more artillery 3vs3/4vs4 spam by allied side since especially Priest will be one of the best counters versus this tactic. Bad for gameplay diversity. I do think KW-1 hull down is the fairest one. Damage reduction + RoF boost is more balanced since it can be still countered by a simple nondoc T3 StuG that outranges it. Let alone ATGs. It can be quite misleading. AT overwatch starts really slow and gains pace if you keep sight on target. It has problems to hit moving targets. It is best used at very slow targets. A snared Ele / JT or KT is the perfect target, it moves so slow that the shells will always hit it. A snared Panther on the other side won't get hit very often if at all, since it is pretty fast even if snared. AT overwatch is only at commanders that get picked not that often, it could see some more action. In: COH2 Balance

It hardly had anything to do with fighting tanks, let alone heavies/superheavies. They have the AT satchel for that. May I use your words out of your upgrade changelog #20 against you? ;-) Reason for the third PTRS: "The current upgrade lacks power against anything past the light vehicle phase, which means that an AT Penal squad scales poorly into the late game, posing minimal threat to tanks unless they could be satchelled." It was always sold as scaling into the lategame and doing more damage vs tanks in the discussion as you can see at your own changelog notes. But of course you are right, it is primarly more alpha damage vs light vehicles. If you wanted to achieve what your changelog says it would have to be more penetration or more deflection damage without giving a third PTRS. At the moment they are op vs light vehicles still not a thread for tanks since a halfway decent player won't let you that close to satchel his tanks. In: COH2 Balance

If you really did, you would've noticed that the changes only nerfed the IL-2 rocket strafe's damage from 80-90% health to the rear of an Elefant to 70-80% on average (though more against the front armor), and I assume you wouldn't call this "drastically nerfed". The rockets have a high amount of deflection damage. The penetration nerf only took the edge off. Your tests are only true for an Ele at the middle of the map standind still out in the open (labor situation), you are missing two aspects that happen in real game situations: 1) The live version of the IL-2 rocket strike will always come down the best and shortest route that is possible, resulting in a very fast approach. Having to go for the rear of a tank will result in more time for evading at multiple occasions. 2) Good players may even consider positioning the Elephant so that a building can partly cover its rear side, since rockets tend to hit buildings in their way (as we saw at P-47 loiter already) -> take Lienne as a good example In: COH2 Balance

Where do you have the data from? We don't know about commander picks only about commander loadout picks. At 1vs1 Mechanized it is a third position. At all other game modes it is at last position. Thread: STUKA anti tank strafe11 Apr 2021, 21:11 PM Its pretty much the same ability as the pre-nerf IL2-rocket strafe for 15 less MU. Since most of the dev team play most factions they will see this too. Both abilities were very effective even without ram. For the large patch around next week I expect either a nerf to bring it inline with IL-2 rocket-strafe or a price adjustment. In addition I guess it will be removed at Jaeger Armor Doctrine, since it is similar to the Ele/Stuka Dive Bomb combo that we had before. Lets wait for the next revision of the patch, I don't think they miss something that obvious. In: COH2 Balance
