For anybody interested, here is how the center of real european town/city with medival history (magdeburg law) would look like. Quite a lot of garrisons and quite close quarter if you ask me, but also some long lines in the market. Not a single one through the whole area though. Mind that the streets that go out of the map would usually also end with triangular crossings, shortening long, as would seem, lines of sight even more.

Also, if you bugsplat in the same session that you changed graphics settings, those changes will not be saved.
Yep, its generally a great practice to restart game every time you change any settings (including commander loadouts) to make sure they are properly saved and not to do all the changes again next time. |
Why exactly do you guys think its a bug? All barrage type abilities in game work the same way - the cost is payed and the cooldown reset at the start of ability. If you cancel before it starts you pay nothing and there is no cooldown, if you cancel after it starts there is no payback. It doesn't really matter if, and how many granades have been thrown or shells fired, why should it? |
what unit from the soviets says something that goes like''they cannot stop with bullets the revolution'' and is it right the way i wrote it??
Pretty sure its con squad but I don't remember the exact quote as well. |
Thanks.
But what infantry has further sight range than snipers then? If nobody has it then anyone will be suppressed and have to retreat. So nobody can spot without having to retreat pretty soon and mortar is only solid counter. But then again, you can't be sure if there is an hmg there anymore since you don't have sight range without having to retreat. Such bullshit that is.
You can always spot from cover or garrison of your own. Also the best counters to garrisons are mortars and demos, not a sniper. |
Not a bug at all. Both snipers and mgs have more shooting range than sight range. You will always be shot back when shooting from the sight range of sniper. Spotter is what you need to avoid this.
Before latest changes to bulletins you could also stack 3 sight range bulletins on soviet sniper to get self spotting sniper. Right now it's not possible any more. |
Are you serious? This thing was and is outright broken. On some maps it is uncounterable if the German player hasn´t gone for a 105mm. Take Trois Ponts or Crossing in the woods as example. If they are planted behind a building (Trois Ponts) or the big hedge next to the base (Crossing in the woods) they can overwatch the central VP unharmed for the entire game. They can´t be reached by conventional means there and small artillery won´t get them.
The mortar pit or emplacements in general were one of the most hated "features" (if cancer is a feature) of all Coh.
When you consider that scheldt was probably played more often than all other maps combined in coh1, you get the picture of kind of data relic based their decision on... |
With little expectations I reinstalled the game and somehow it solved my problem, I don't have lags anymore.
If someone encounters the same problem this might be useful (though I don't know why it has worked out).
Probably would be enough to perform an integrity check on coh2. |
This cracked me up!
I was looking at RAM during the summer, it was under 16 USD for a 4GB DDR3 stick. Now the price has increased, so I was wondering if it might drop down anytime soon, or perhaps go on sale (Black Friday? Cyber Monday?).
Should I just get another 4GB stick (to replace the stick I lost), or should I buy an 8GB one? Perhaps a 8GBx2 dual channel kit?
On graphics cards, the RX 460 has the highest cost/performance ratio second to the GTX 1060, but 200USD is over my budget, so I'll stick with the RX 460.
If you are upgrading RAM in order too play coh2, bear in mind that optimal amount of ram including windows and game only is 8GB, and it happens to go over that. Which basically means that if you want to have, say, a browser in the background (who doesnt?) or skype, you will need more than 8GB to get optimal performance.
Of course, on setups with not enough ram it uses less and so does windows, but this has pretty big impact on performance. |
There is alot of players playing those brackets, much more than 1v1 or 2v2 tbh. This part of community is just not as loud as all the 1v1 players because of streams etc.
Would really aprecciate any kind of effort towards 3v3+ mapmaking.
I didn't mean that there is little players playing them, in fact it's the majority, simply almost all of them have different expectations than 1v1 community when it comes to maps.
Also team games are horribly hard to cast. That means it's also hard to watch casters trying to cast them, and so, that the idea of 4v4 tournament is not very popular. Without tournaments, it's even harder to find people to competitively play large team games or make competitive maps for these modes. |
