The PTRS's are fine as they are. Whenever i'm up against Guard Infantry, I always have to be careful with my vehicles or the Guards will completely destroy them. Good range, good damage and fairly cheap; if anything, the PTRS should nerfed since it's ridiculously good for the price. Even in the hands of Conscripts, the PTRS's are extremely potent.

Ostwinds aren't very good at shooting planes down. M5s are much better. Dunno why. Pquemish mentioned that they both have the exact same chance to shoot down planes. In: COH2 Balance |

PTRS has a chance of one-shotting a model (not a high chance, its about 5%?) and also makes the squad jump around if they miss (they toned this down a bit, it used to make them jump for days on end). Becaue as slub said they are the only elite infantry thats meh.. Yes they can survive longer than pgrens. No they are not at all like rangers lol. They arent AT they are anti vehicle. Also rangers had better AI. Having 6 models with 1.5 armor is good but it adds nothing to their combat effectivness as the last two are always the ptrs gunners. The least relic could have done was make the ptrs kill infantry well since it does 0 to real tanks. Combat wise they truly are just vanilla grens. Thats pretty weak for 360 MP plus 145 plus muni. This is assuming you buttoned once threw one nade and got dp lmg. Then add to this mark vehicle and you just burned through a ton of muni. On the dp lmg having better AI than pgrend with shreks. This is true only if they are in a garrison. Otherwise they roll around and do PT rather than aiming thier dp lmg half the time. I would honestly prefer PTRS as a paid upgrade so they could put out slightly less AI than LMG 42 Grens by default. If there are no light vehicles Guards are just a manpower sink tbh. Its all about cost to performance to me and with hiw easy it is to cancel button i just dont see alot of value in it. 9/10 times i go guards motor i wont even build Guards. If i want decent AI i can go Penals and have scripts to AT nade and i always get better results barring of course a flameht. Thats the only time In: COH2 Gameplay |

It was until the nerf. Now its about equal to the shocks with a slower animation. To my knowledge PTRS does no damage to infantry which is why its so easy to snipe abwhole squad if charging guards...you only need worry about 4 models. Yes nades as listed in my previous posts guards require that you dump muni into them for rhem ro be of any real use. Nade 45 muni for possiboe rng kills. Button 100 muni for something that as listed above is easily cancelled. Guards are bar none the worst elite infantry because all they do RELIABLY is counter lighr vehicles. Barring that they do norhing else that i cannot do cheaper and better wirh something much cheaper. Personally to me engine damage us much better and much cheaper than button. On the gren sitting still i can accomplish the same with molo a shock nade or even a satchel. So again not bringing anything to the table. The are a jack of no trades that cost more to employ than any other soviet infantry. Glad you all dont mind blowing all your resources for little in return but me i prefer more bang for my buck. But thats the same as saying in theory soviets have better ai but shicks lose to flametracks and soviet tanks have crap hps. They eitherbdo or they dont. I will not accept that germans do not have superior AT. No one says its ser it and forget it nor should it be its far too powerful for that. This is a game of unit preservation and micro. I can use german AT to great effect. I even messed around in 1V1 by not using armor and winning by converting fuel to muni and spamming tellars and paks. The fact is mark target takes Soviets 50% weaker overall AT and evens the playing field. Leacing the soviets also with marginally better AI because you wont have mark with superior AI soviet units or abilities. Where for mother russia dies it both with AI and AT. Yet there are no cries about that because tanks dont get the boost. In: COH2 Balance |

See how you just did chicken in the egg there... Once guards are seen THEN the lmgs tend to come out. And now you have no counters. Just like the flameht comes out after the shocks hit the field. So your prior arguement is only valid if i have acess to bith sts and guards. Me i like to remove shrek squads more than crappy ass button so i tend ro go sts. In: COH2 Gameplay |

So your arguement is about personal preference you do not then deny the fact the german faction has better AT. Fyi at parts cost 250 mp and have a small chance to get a single shrek or a better chance ro get two ptrs. You brought them up i am doing an infantry at comparison. So point being even if i get a lucky roll and dont get ptrs AND i spend the muni for mark target i would still do 40% less damage then german at infantry. Also i am glad you decided to bring up burst vs sustained dps. Yes a mark can hurt in surprise by a whole dedicated at force. Bur this is why german armor tends to have higher armor and hps for their relative class. I am also glad you brought up target weakpoint as being bugged cahse guess what? So is self repair! Not being abke to cancel it because a pio is attacking you is good times for all! I am also glad you explained vehicle combat dynamics to me because i was very confused....since losing vehicles is more painful then i am sure you agree having higher hps facing at most equal at and at worst inferior at then having higher hps smoke and blitz is an exponential advantage in the armor game. Also i would like to point out your whole arguement about soviets even having equal at is centered around a single ability that isnt in every doctrine. Me i personally prefer doctrines with shocks... Guards are great, everything about them are great besides one thing. Which is the DP-28. It's extremely weak, it should have the same DPS as the Gren LMG since they are the same cost. Even if they did it would only work in a garrison since there are two of them and the run for cover or random move over here squad ai with 6 men. Like what happens now they are constantly reaiming and in setup. I am shocked that anyone in thier right mind would rhink Guards are great at 360 mp. 50% more manpower for the combat performance vanilla grens with no faust. If they had better pen and could plink away at hevies then maybe. At duties are better and cheaper with the light at gun and ppsh conscripts even have better ai so this only leaves them with buggy old expensive button. In: COH2 Gameplay |
