It basically makes units crawl if it's on a retreat path.
I mean, it's not like it was a finished mechanic, i don't think it made it pass alpha/beta.
Then it works as it should work: slow down the soldiers, how do you imagine that the soldiers will retreat through the barbed wire field and jump over to have a normal speed of retreat? Allied soldiers detente a German minefield when they retreat. I think it is worth adding back the wire to the defense commander. It will be all in one commander.
As far as I remember, the barbed wire field is easily destroyed by a mortar, it is necessary to correct the destruction by tanks if such a bug exists.
IIRC, the barbwire field cause problems in retreating units and couldn't be cleared by vehicles.
And this is an unsolvable problem? What kind of problems with retreat? Because you don’t scare anyone with the German minefield, people know how to avoid and eliminate it, in most cases, the German minefield only works with retreating units.
Damn, how annoying the Relic trait that exists throughout CoH2: to create an interesting and cool mechanics and then just remove it if something bad works in it, instead of fixing it.

It was Soviet, I think in a single company, engineers still can build a unique wire. Return the wire field probable in the rework Defense Commander that would be very thematic and relevant, it can be just one ability - defense structures that give: wire, anti-tank traps and a bunker.
Also, did I seriously see someone claim the AK-47 is not a copy of the StG44? Really?
A copy of the concept, mechanically there is nothing in common with it. M1 Garand / carbine made more influence on AK. AK-46 had a direct copy of the Garand bolt.
Let's just say that Dane has been leaning a little bit too much towards the Axis side and that's also the reason why I stopped watching him when I noticed it.
So him being a bit clueless about ALLIED small arms comes as no real surprise to me.
Also it's fairly obvious what the Soviets copied to make their AK47 even if they're not the same weapon system -
*cough* (superior German engineering) *cough*.
And now let us remember that the valiant Aryans copied from the Untermenche:
12-cm Granatwerfer 42 - direct copy of the Soviet PM-38.
8 cm Raketen-Vielfachwerfer - a copy of the Soviet 80-mm missiles and BM-8-24
G43 - based on SVT-40
RSO - based on the layout scheme of the Soviet transport tractors STZ-5 and Stalinets-2
We don't need to lie to ourselves. This is not the 90/00, golden time for RTS is far gone.
STRATEGY, as a general category, is popular. But that's because it includes way too many different genres which are not close to each other. RTS, RTT (MoW), TBS (Civ), TBT (Xcom), Artillery, Tower Defense, MOBAs, etc.
RTS outside of having big fanbases (Starcraft, Warcraft, Age of empires, CoH) is extremely niche. The genre requires heavy time investment in order to start to scrap the real hidden value of the product, something which the masses are not going to do.
That's why MOBAs replaced RTS, at least in terms of PvP demographic. They are easier to start with, even if the skill roof is still high.
Forget about it, at least for 4/5 years more. Relic is currently busy with AoE4, which you can't expect to get any fresh news till end of year or way into 2020. If they are still assigned to the IP for post release content, you would still need to wait even more.
If you can't wait, the closet thing you could get is Iron Harvest.
I am a member of the big Discord group where people play in CoH2. And almost all of them say that they continue to play in CoH2 because there are no alternatives. Players have a demand, the market has no goods. So the AAA strategies will be in high demand. But I have already said the reasons above.
I wouldnt lose hope, since there was the CoH1 vs CoH2 feedback thread an year or something ago, but its not even certain that there will be one, considering how little popularity the genre has compared to FPS and other games
Not quite true, the RTS is really a popular player genre. but not popular with major publishers. Because the "game service" concept with lootboxes completely captured the minds of publishers. They want to create minimal content but sell it for maximum profit. RTS can not squeeze money out of players as much as possible. Therefore, the RTS is not so popular for development.
Check the patch notes, the canister shot was not the only buff M-42 got.
The unit was over performing for cost and was adjusted, it does not need the canister shot to be useful and it good in its role: to counter light vehicles and and light tanks.
Are you serious now? Spend a full commander slot for light vehicles / tanks counteraction with which non commander the ZiS-3 fighting well? Or with which PTRS penals are perfectly fighting. Whatever tier you have taken.
M-42 is designed to counter light vehicles and light tanks, it's performance in that role just fine.
It cheap cost effective with lower pop and does not require tech. It's fine.
Yes, it is so fine that before the appearance of the canister shot, no one used the M-42 this unit was buried and forgotten. And overnerf this ability again killed a unit. Let's not build an illusion here and just remove the M-42 from all the commanders and replace it with more useful abilities.
