So at the end, I build a Sherman and had to face his panther... So next time, I'll skip the investment on med tanks, go directly for a sherman and break him before he can have his Panther.
riflespam into Sherman, you like it or not, OKW gameplay force you into.
Goes the same for the okw. volks cannot handle riflespam especially not when lmg's are involved. most okw players tech straight to the panther. the puma is fine piece of work but getting it to counter the m20 is suicidal . you need a panther to effectively counter medium armour. also keep in mind that the first ober is going to do jack shit against the rifleblob. its the p2 luchs that balances the situation forcing the usf player to get AT out to counter the little tank which allows the okw to pump more AI on the field.
the okw doesnt lack AT but they do lack early AV. getting a puma to counter a 20 fuel m20 is stupid. the pupchen is awesome against slower moving medium and heavy tanks but fails against vehicles. that leaves only shreks. |
To the players saying Jacksons should be used in trios for maximum effectiveness, I have a question as a noob USF player. If I need to invest that much into dedicated AT, how can I counter German infantry blobs - which, at least my ranking, blob their way happily around the map every single game.
Actually we say you should sherman+ jackson in 1 vs 1. but even if 2 jacksons where out usf has the strongest baseline infantry and upgrades. so wtf are you doing? |
You talk about the tank that had the best death/kill Ratio of all tank designs from WW2. About 1500 build tigers destroyed more than 10000 allied tanks.
The Tiger was the most effective tank of WW2. T-34s and Shermans were death traps with terrible negative death/kill ratios compared to it.
Germany also couldnt mass produce the panther because Germany is a smaller Country with almost no natural ressources it would have never had enough fuel or steel for 20000 or 30000 Panthers.
More tanks = more steel = more fuel = more tank Crews.
Whoa. you got some facts wrong here mate. Germany is and was back then industrial hart of Europe having nearly 5 times industrial output then the soviet union with a far higher population of skilled and educated labourers. also keep in mind that Norway have huge amounts or iron ore and was under german control back then. However the industrial capabilities of germany where never utilised by the nazi's and until 1943 they maintained a peace time economy. in the summer of 1942 if you walked in a german city you would not even realise that this country was a war. |
Uh no...i simply wrote that i'd rather have M10's than jacksons nondoctrinally.....which is assuming they'd be used together with shermans as stated by my "Get 2-3 shermans first" comment..
And when i was talking about critical mass i was referring to the fact that 3-4 shermans can simply do more than 3-4 jacksons. Since the jacksons are only decent at one job...unlike shermans which are decent/good at many jobs....since it is a workhorse medium tank after all....
And my opinion of your skills and thus the worth of your input has even lowered further, an the tragic part is you dont even know why. |
Read stats. Again not best TD. Most mobile TD yes. Best at destroying tanks? No. Again go read the long post with the Stats.
Edit:
mate piss of with your stats. stats can explain why things happen in the game they cannot 100 % predict how an unit is going to behave. the combination of speed , penetration and dps topped of with the hvap rounds makes the jackson the best TD currently in the game, the only unit that can beat this unit by " stats " are jp4 and su85. |
This. critical mass of shermans>critical mass of jacksons. Hell id rather have M10s. at least they can crush inf and flank easier.
And the trend of allied players not wanting to use combined arms continues. |
You are arguing usage and I am arguing stats. Of course no decent US player would WANT to do that. But sometimes things like engine damage happen, sometimes maps require engaging at closer then ideal range. When talking about how a unit is used there are alot of variables.
When talking about stats there are not. Clearly for the cost the Jackson is not "Great". Its not HORRIBLE either. But its not enough to balance USF in any hope against heavy tanks for cost and pop cap.
I was going to put a lengthy reply to this until you said the m36 is average? did you just call the BEST TD in the game average? seriously l2p thats the only solution. you for some reason expect the m36 to penetrate heavy armor 100 % of the time. might i remind you that the jp4 , su85 and the puma dont penetrate most tanks 100 % of time and i consider them to be excellent TD"s . and generally they dont have 2 they still pack an excellent rof and dps. the panther is exception. |
It would be helpful if the M36 penetration doesn't drop to 160 which even has a small chance to bounce off a Panzer IV.
Thats its a TD doesnt mean it gets a free pass. 160 penetration is a lot especially if you take hvap into account. the suggestions here would make all axis heavy tanks completely worthless which they somewhat already are .against the usf i will always say :build either puma's/jp4's and skip the heavies they dont work against jacksons unless you are on a cc map.
That it doesnt penetrate 100 % of the time doesn't make an unit useless, after all i consider the puma one of the better axis AT units and it has only 50 % chance of penetrating a t-34/sherman |
Also, for the ones saying L2P/Micro better. Explane how you would "Micro it better."
Use it as a puma. you know the unit that has been complained to death about its so called effectiveness. make sure you have plenty of support and meat shields. scout area have sherman or e8 take point use long range fire to draw him in, when confronting heavies use pairs. and never try to solo stuff.
@PwnageMachine
Is downright embarrassing as a caster how often you need to be corrected especially considering you have coh 2 stats (awesome site btw) to look things up.
Also a great vid on how not to use the m36's |
Right now okw. sviets and usf are well balanced.some units need minor tweaking the support gun su76 and zooka need some buffs. but overall they do fine. the ostheer is the only faction thats not fine in 1vs1 or 4vs4. in 1 vs 1 they suffer from the expensive tech and rather up units like 222 p4 , stug and brumbar.
in 4 vs 4 the ost with supply doctrine can supercharge the okw economy to breaking point. simply reducing the okw income from cache would suffice.
People complain often about the okw because they are resistant to cheesy tactics of the soviets and usf. m20 or track rush : puma (what does the ost have)? maxim spam : luchs and obers (what does the ost have?) snipers and m3 : flack track (what does the ost have?)
Waiting until you have enough cp's for call ins? not going to work obers and the luchs are going to tear you a new one. you still managed to get them? well their impact is significantly lower because of volk shreks(and the only reason why so many people want to nerf shreks). |
