Thread: Unit-specific veterancy: a suggestion5 Sep 2013, 01:28 AM I agree, the German vet ability for infantry is quite pointless. Why would I want to use 20(?) munitions for only one squad when I can use 60 munitions + 150 manpower for the entire game? It just doesn't make any sense. Also, I'm not exactly sure what the "infantry awareness" ability on light vehicles really does in practice (it doesn't even reveal cloaked snipers). On the Soviet side, we have the "vehicle capture point" ability. It makes a lot of sense on the T-70, but the IS-2 has the same ability too. Really? Who's going to field an IS-2 with no infantry nearby? In: COH2 Gameplay

Of course they're a lot less useful if you're not using them in combination with AT guns and other support weapons where you can use merge. Why does ammo cost even matter? Soviets float munitions in the late game like nothing. Don't forget that also because they're 6-man squads versus the 4-man grenadiers they can pretty much capture any abandoned weapon whenever they want without losing the squad. Only useful in the first few minutes for capping? Conscripts are good for capping even in the late game. Why waste a frontline Guard/Shock squad or an Engineer squad to cap a point when a conscript can do it instead (and faster too with Oorah, if there are multiple points to cap)? This allows the rest of your forces to keep to the offensive, which is what Soviets are best at. There's a lot of utility that the conscripts have. They do not have offensive power late game, which seems to be what you want. However, that's not the design of the unit. In: Lobby

Perhaps like Ugbear suggested except with the DP instead, since the LMG upgrade for grenadiers is also one gun - this makes the most sense considering only one DP is needed to button anyway. Realistically, I don't think PPSh and Stg44 can be made to drop because then you'd have 6 Shock Troops and 4 (vanilla) Panzergrenadiers dropping guns everywhere. In: COH2 Bugs

Consider the last time a patch addressed this issue: instead of lowering the Russian teams to, lets say, four men, they raised the German teams to four men instead. I don't think support teams should have as many members as mainline infantry squads and I think the vCoH squad sizes made much more sense, but I doubt they're going to budge from this stance. The German arsenal does not have anything, I repeat anything, that is capable of killing an entire squad in one or two seconds consistently just by driving past it. Why should the Soviets get something like this in this game, when it breaks the whole concept of retreating and preserving infantry squads? It is pretty clear that all of you so adamantly defending the KV-8's straight-up retarded DPS have never suffered at the hands of this tank. It is also pretty clear that you refuse to see things from the other player's point of view. And yet, when I propose the purelyhypothetical idea of putting the KV-8 flamer onto the P-IV Command Tank call-in, a more fragile tank by the way, you get immediately riled up and start throwing out personal insults. Is that because you love historical accuracy so much or is it because you know how broken the KV-8 is and just want to keep it to your favorite faction, hoping the problem never gets noticed by Relic? Frankly, I doubt that the design team had the idea of an insta-gib-squad-upon-contact unit in mind when they designed the KV-8 considering its relatively cheap cost. They already nerfed the 251 Halftrack when that vehicle was considered OP (by the way, they never nerfed the damage on the 251, meaning that it never had anywhere near the level of DPS that the KV-8 has) to prevent retreat-roasting, so why is it that the KV-8 still gets to do so? Thread: CoH2 LADDERS4 Sep 2013, 18:05 PM AFAIK, the first 20 games count for more Elo than subsequent ones. A new player just starting would lose a lot of those and be dropped very low - thus requiring more games to climb up. It could always be done so that at the beginning of each season the Elo is bell-curved to an average - not a complete reset but still a toning down. And yeah, a recent matches list would be nice so I can see what the opponent's rank on the ladder was after a game. In: Lobby

In order to accommodate the new weapon, the 76.2mm gun was replaced with a smaller 45 mm Gun M1932, though it was disguised to look like the standard 76 mm (The cannon was placed inside 76mm tube). KV-8S (25) – The same as KV-8, but based on KV-1S. Was equipped with ATO-42 flamethrower (improved version of ATO-41). KV-8M - Upgraded version of KV-8S. Was equipped with two flamethrowers.
