The KV-8 doesn't affect the end result as much at the moment because German early game is so good and that the early game has a larger ripple effect than late game (obviously). When the early game meta is balanced, there will be no ripple effect from easy German early game, meaning the KV-8 will affect the end result of the game fairly consistently.

By the way, the KV-8 is not expensive. 135 fuel is only 20 more than a Panzer IV and it actually costs less if you include the teching cost. Assuming a state in the game where both sides have held their own fuel equally up to that point, you bet it's going to roll over everything.

You can't say that nothing in the Soviet arsenal is OP because the German player is always ahead due to MG spam because:

1) It's one specific tactic (albeit the most popular one in current meta)
2) It's getting fixed in the next patch

Let's take that into consideration first and continue this discussion in a more logical and constructive manner.

@UGBEAR and Nullist: Stop derailing the thread further with your directed personal attacks at each other - doesn't matter who started it. Frankly, it's just making Relic devs want to read the discussion less as half of the posts don't contain anything constructive (especially UGBEAR, stop quoting the same quote every fucking post; what are you, five years old?).

Huh? I have no problem defeating kv8 commander, I also often P'shreck KV8 without having my PG's instantly disappear like many here claim, and/or fire of couple AT gun rounds on it.

Even base rush fails to eradicate my PG's most of the time, because stug or Piv is just about ready to come out when that happens, and you do know you can move your PG's around buildings and flank kv8, its not illegal to separate them from blob (it can only flame in one direction)...

Maybe its better idea to think about your tech-ing vs KV8, than worrying about me being comfy with T2 opening

I never said I have trouble defeating the KV-8 commander either and nobody ever said that it is unbeatable. Not unbeatable does not mean it is not overpowered.

The MG spam is not unbeatable (because otherwise Soviets as a faction would probably have 0% win rate) but it is overpowered. What part of that don't you understand when we talk about the KV-8 in the same regard?

Overall, I think the KV-8 may be a leftover from the (way too strong) beta flamethrowers. I don't know the whole patch history of closed beta but when looking at the stats it looks like it was the only flamethrower that simply did not have its stats reduced.

This is likely the case as the campaign version of the German halftrack roasts just as fast as the KV-8. It could even be that the KV-8 multiplayer unit was originally intended for campaign and that got mixed up somehow.

In any case, I sincerely hope it is being looked at in this patch as it does classify as a "heavy" tank (even though it costs less than a Panzer IV if you include teching).

I am mentioning ammo because Soviets don't float ammo @ the start of the game when conscripts are semi-useful. Usually abandoned weapons don't just sit around for picking up without fight for it, fight for which conscripts are not capable after first few min. You are right, using semi-useless conscripts as slow moving reinforcement unit for support weapons is fantastic ability opposed to inf halftruck.



Assuming that LMG PG's or scout car won't attempt to deny conscripts point, sound like fantastically versatile and capable unit.

If you like them so much, then play Soviets and use them. Don't compare conscripts with Germans. I would much rather have guards on the field or shocks than conscripts even if it means I have to capture AT gun with shocks.....

Right... Because in the late-game battles filled with tanks there are scout cars roaming around everywhere. And LMG PG? That's not even a standard unit. Not to even mention, I specifically said conscripts are good back-cappers - that means, either behind your frontlines where the enemy can't get to them without going through your army, or on the opposite side of the map where the enemy has no forces. Are you saying the conscripts are going to play Russian roulette and off each other because they're bored of sitting around?

Do you not save manpower everytime you use merge with conscripts? Do they not cost less than regular reinforcing? And what happens if you went Tier 4 and have no halftracks? Are you planning on walking your AT guns and other support teams back to base?

What kind of AT-nade are you doing in the early game that fails all the time? The AT-nade that works 100% of the time against light vehicles? Or are you somehow saying that the Panzer IV comes out in the early game?

What do you mean abandoned weapons are to be fought for? Can you not just press Oorah, click on an abandoned MG42/81mm Mortar and shift-press retreat? Is that so hard? What kind of sustained fighting that conscripts are going to "lose at" are you engaging in with that action?

None of your arguments even make any sense. I suggest you think about what you post before you do it, lest you come off as one of those rabid Soviet fanboys who just want conscripts to rofl-stomp everything when you press Oorah. For the Motherland, right?
