I noticed this yesterday, my vet3 pak dont cloak, and "target weak point" ability not work for me, this is bug, or ninja change for balance? What is relic statment? |
I use for long ranged units, when i havent time babysitting, and want move with them another side of the map, because with gren lmg, sniper, Puma, AC, AT guns etc is epic fail walking near to the enemy CQC units, or AT... With Shock, PG and all CQC specialist, i use klick spam near/behind the enemy squad for closing the distance, not attack move. |
My opinion is that the Jackson itself is fine itself, but the tools the US have to support it just aren't good enough.
1. US have very limited access to mines, and the light AT mines I think are a bit wonky at the moment, unreliable and hard to use (they remind me of pre-buff s-mines).
2. Bazookas aren't much of a threat to tanks and wont discourage multiple tanks or heavies from charging right through them at the jacksons.
3. Shermans are poor meat sheilds since they are almost as flimsy as the Jackson itself and won't last long enough to really protect the Jacksons or provide line of sight for as long as is often needed, plus without flanking they wont penetrate much of any tank themselves.
Overall I think the Jackson is fine in itself, but the US infantry AT and defensive AT aren't quite up to par it is really hard to keep them protected long enough to do damage to mass tanks or heavies, or really discourage the germans from charging straight at the jacksons themselves.
1.You have tellers WITHOUT doctrine, from m20, what is a fine unit for scouting, can harass/kill the kübel - not AT inf. even unsupported OBERS, can cap points, and LAY down TELLER mines, you need use.
2. BAzoo role dont fight for heavys, but excelent vs Pumas, kübels.
3. Shermans for his price, are excelent meat shields, yes, dont have really high dps on a Panther frontal armor, but "meatshield" is not a unit, who can beat a panther... Shermans excellent with 640 hp, mobility, and long ranged triple smoke barrage for cover, protect Jacksons, and soak damage, make LOS. After vet1 Sherman gain more and more Line of sight too with Radio net... |
RedxWings is another soviet player ive noticed breaking the meta. ive only seen a few games of his, but both involved defensive tactics (yea thats right, no guards/shocks or call in tanks) with cons and penals.
Respect for them! I want try out/develop for myself new strats, and hate use the common meta, but for me, the conscript/penal builds most of time the hardest way, vs OKW, i feel the T1 M3 2/3 sniper with some(1-2) AT naded conscript open while i get 2 CP and elite inf, or Pure T2 maxim spam the only way, where i can stay the game, and i say that, who like the OKW in first place, not Soviets...
Maybe i dont know use really well penals, but with carbine dps profile, penal now simple the conscript with ppsh upgrade, plus a opportunity for a flamer... This all SVT+flamer effective on close range, but without the ST s or Assault grens armor, or PGs Obers Jager received accuracy bonus... Most of time, when i want use penals, if i used them defensive style, from cover, lmgs- gren or massed volks, Stormpios beat them, badly. IF i want charge, that would be a freaking massacre, but not the good way for me... Conscript is OK for me, a cheap, starter unit, with a lots cool abiltiy, but Penal, what is the BEST rus non docrinal unit, need a redesign, i think, if relic want cqc units, give them armor/rec. acc bonus, OR dont, but then give him good LONG range dps...

In my opinion, the first thing, what need to do most of US player in late game, learn respect his AT gun, and use... THE US late AT game design was in COH1 the same, without doctrinal Pershing, or AT gun wall, you will be stomped, with AT gun wall, you can push and push back all axis armor, with the opportunity to chase down with your fast tank destroyers. |

Problem with USF late game is that requires more micro than other factions who can rely on heavies or tanks with bigger HP pools. But i guess this is working as intended.
Jackson have more range, double damage, and when his arrives, you can hide your Jackson safely behind your AT gun wall. OKW has same situation in MID game, requirers more micro than other faction... |
I'm at a fairly high level as 1v1 Soviet and the only way I know to beat OKW as Soviets is by cheesing. I lost 8 games in a row when I was trying more normal builds.
This is SAD, but true... Conscript build, Conscript - Penal mix, or Penal build simple dont work, need better basic, non doctrinal SU infantry power. Now, the best what SU player can do, Sniper M3, or maxim mortar while ST or Guards coming. I want decent SU basic inf too, or good mixed army for Russian. |
I agree Puma is overperforming. Its such a cool unit, and so fun to use, but also micro intensive (but who doesnt like to micro a Puma! ), that it can be easy to lose sight that it really does everything a bit too well.
However, as I said before, Id prefer if its damage profle was what is nerfed, rather than its survival profile.
OKW fuel income differential is too important to ignore in terms of the heightened vehicle retention importance.
I think Puma shouldnt be as dangerous offensively as it is atm, OKW anyways is very good at biding its time, and Puma is still, even with a reduced damage profile, such an excellent little vehicle, that its ok that it takes a little longer to fulfill its offensive purposes, a little less efficiently. But I do think it needs to retain its survival potential.
Its a little too capable of opportunistic action atm, due to its quite good damage profile, in conjunction with its "gtfo" nature and mobility. I really think just reducing its offensive capabilities a bit, will make it less of a threat, without having to nerf its survival.

Puma overperforming vs what units? Infantry? Heavy tanks? If you said, overperforming vs med tanks, i think, that is the pumas role, KILL med tanks, with good micro, some people dont realize this, puma has rola same, the little brother for Jackson... Puma is a glass cannon too, can be harass, kite to med tanks to death yes, but nothing have against AT guns, heavy tanks, and AT infanty...
IF puma role isnt kill t34-shermans, then what? For a vehicle, who can scouting, i NEVER paid 320mp, and 100 Fuel, for this purpose, OKW have kübel, or counter for ONLY light vehicle, as a russian M3, M5, t70, and US AA HT, maybe Stuart(but if puma get some decent nerf, Stuart will be pretty even)... The OKW faction, without a unit, like puma, what can provide some mid tank defense, the gap vs the ONLY light vehicles counter, and first panther, is so Huge, you cant cover all your army with pupchen. Puma need micro now too, and proper play, with decreased damage or penetration, im not sure, he can be the mid game solution vs med tanks spam from RUS t3... Jagdpanzer 4 maybe the solution if Puma get nerf, it is fine unit, but not now with his price, simply can outmassed with t34 easy, and his 135 Fuel price, in russian resource system 192.85 fuel, almost 2 t34, and you get for this price zero AI power... |
