I think it was aerafield that said this was a good thing because it allows for annihilation victories in VP games lol. Could be mistaken.
Does not make sense though. to remove this kind of flexibility that coh1 and coh2 had displayed. No wonder coh3 feels off. |
Why i cannot rebuild my destroyed main base? With how coh3 seems to encourage base inspection, and arty into bases, this is too much Relic! Back to FF16 |
My problem with coh3 is how relic seems to be sitting on their asses as if everything is 9/10 right now.
I give them until july to give us a more concrete roadmap. They said they are regrouping now.
We shall see how their new management shake things up. |

watching the replay livestream QA.
relic team today still seem lost at what to do. a lot of words but no substance, no clear idea who is leading them.
And we have the stereotypical purple colored hair diversity hire chatting with john_re. she sounded rather chilled with the state of the game, offering no confidence they know what to do next.

I personally don't think coh3 is so bad, it is mostly 1vs1 focused but I have had some decent 2vs2 games as well.
Honestly I don't think I will come back to coh2 though the meta is too stale (1v1) scene is mostly dead as far as I know and 2vs2 meta is very boring with no patch in sight.
In case you play smth else good for you, but I don't understand the hate for coh3 it is a decent alternative to coh2.
In case you are hardcore coh2 fan thats also fine, but I don't get the hate and then suggesting playing a game completly unrelated to the franchise
Coh3 is viable game, but it still does not feel as tight and fresh as i hoped for something that promises to satisfy us for next 5-10 years.
It is the slow patching and updating efforts, that makes me concerned should i sink more time to get gud at it. |
i bought a playstation 5 in anticipation for final fantasy XVI, brings me back to my child hood days of NES.
How about you? |
he/she is totally inexperienced.
spent 7 years on these games?????
Project: Darkest Dungeon The Butcher’s Circus DLC
Projects: Dungeon Hunter Champions (iOS)
Projects: Dungeon Hunter 5 + an unannounced project
Then spent 8 months on recycling coh units???
Project: Company of Heroes 3
• Served as a senior technical designer, aiding COH3 team with bugfixing and content completion towards the end of the project.
• Designed and implemented new RTS units and abilities.
one of my criticism of coh3 is how recycled the units are! and the loss of methodical phases progression. it feels too much like a mobile game by automating too much and throwing everything at your disposal too soon |
maybe i am overthinking now but coh3 does remind me of a EA sport game.
tiny incremental gameplay updates, reuse many assets and gameplay designs, and release new content from it. |
I'il just live it there for you to figure it out why CoH3 is poopy.
https://www.mobygames.com/person/108570/david-littman/ - big boss
https://www.mobygames.com/person/67141/aaron-janzen/ - lead sound designer
https://www.mobygames.com/person/114702/steven-mele/ - executive produsser
https://www.mobygames.com/person/40562/tristan-brett/ - art director (why everything is so bright and mobile basically)
Also if you want to look at all devs:
https://www.mobygames.com/game/199646/company-of-heroes-3/credits/windows/?autoplatform=true
To sum up, while a lot of devs had good experience, majority of leading roles were left to the guys from EA who worked on a failed projects like BF5\BF hardline or strate up were pumping out EA sports games.
And this is perfectly explains everything. Why game is super good from a technical side? Because it was made by people who worked with RTS\CoH before and have nothing to so with EA. Why overall design is 50\50, because devs are 50\50 here. And why some areas are complete shit? Figure it out.
And on a side note, while you guys shittalk about diversity and why not, female devs at Relic actually have really good and diverse experience in game dev, which is actually some what close to the whole CoH idea.
Coh3 is still a good game, i had good 2v2 still.
These people credits are terrible and they are saved by coh2 and coh1 meta. I hope Relic hires good people, where are the original coh1 developers, come back and save coh3! |
Isn't it much more likely that one, or several people in key positions just weren't up to the job at hand? 'Woke Culture' feels a bit too convenient. I'm sure plenty of studios and other similar industries lean in this direction ideologically but the people involved can still, on the whole, do their jobs.
It is both and many other inefficiencies.
We have seen crazy SJW now wasting dev time with their hissy drama about no boobs on female characters!
https://www.reddit.com/r/GGdiscussion/comments/opkvca/twitter_thread_about_an_argument_within_insomniac/
The game director and art director wanted her to have a visibly, fairly stereotypically feminine look.
The lead writer, the lead character TD, and I wanted to keep her as-is.
This is where things get into territory that men like myself in gamedev need to pay REALLY f***ING CLOSE ATTENTION.
1. It went against the message of the game, which is that anyone can be a hero regardless of how they look
2. You don't need to be stereotypically feminine to be a woman
3. RIVET IS A f***ING ALIEN SPACE FOX, JUST LIKE RATCHET
The argument had been going on for about half an hour before I finally pulled one of the framed Ratchet and Clank posters down from the wall, put it in front of both leads, and told them to look at the damn thing and tell me how much Ratchet looked like a human man.
The argument largely petered out after that point, with all parties leaving incredibly frustrated, and myself leaving the company a few weeks later.
