I understand where they are coming from, but for me personally I don't like this over-simplification. The little macro management CoH has has now been reduced even further. A sign of a decent player is not only how he manages combat, but also takes care of how fast reinforcements and replenished squads get back on the field. Also there is no reason to ever look at the base again apart from building the few structures a faction has to offer.
you can build structures by clicking it on the mini-map now!
you cant even repair damaged base structures too...
100% no need to look into base is their objective...i am not sure the reasoning of focusing on the battlefield.
they tried this with Dow3 removing retreat and veterancy...it made all matches a bullet hell and flows too fast. suppression was also less useful in dow3. i am seeing the same with coh3 mg... |
i dont like auto reinforce.
manual reinforce is a coh legacy, yes it is just hitting R. but it is all about the little user micro to feel involved. it also helps to moderate the pace of a match.
with auto-reinforce, i sometimes forgot about my units in base or that i need to search for the reinforcing squad and squint to watch the reinforce meter filling up. |
it needs to be at 2 CP, not 3. At 3 CP there might be too many grens/volks ATG's or 222 to make it worthwhile for super-clowncar run
i think 222 needs 4-5 hits to kill it. it is a super clowncar already. |
USF mortar is very good against wehrboo, more so than wehr mortar against allies imo.
USF is a forward reaching faction, meaning their mortar will get more sight often. They can also forward reinforce. And mainly the smaller squad sizes of wehr units mean it is more devastating....
try mortar vs weapon teams, and allies mortars usually better to dig in and auto barrage. |
i see many 2v2 players doing this meme plays. + assault infantry to flank early MG easily.
Why does M5 HT have more durability than my wherboo 250/1? |
Thanks for the summary, was a nice read. Doesn't sound like that patch is trying to be the V1.0 CoH2 from June 2013 though, otherwise you probably would have mentioned ISU-152 and Elefant being in t4, and the ridiculous damage system on top of complete lack of weapon profiles.
damage system: Back then, a penetrating shot of an Elefant or Tiger removed ~90% HP from a SU-85 or T-34, BUT both soviet units were able to bounce a shot from these tanks
weapon profiles: CoH2 launched without weapon profiles, like in CoH1. Meaning SMGs & LMGs had the same rate of fire and burst duration across all ranges, only the accuracy was affected by distance to target
To be fair, these 2 systems made more real-world sense, no? |
I think Relic is overdoing themselves, or Sega is overdoing them.
So you have:
Dynamic campaign
linear campaign with story sequences
4 factions
MP for 1v1 2v2 3v3 4v4
Map refining, balance refining
a new Engine
Bugs, glitches, visual errors etc.
and that all in 4 months
Why isn't SEGA giving them more time?
I'm afraid!
they can 'do' all these is probably because the 'new' engine is old/tweaked essence.
nothing of the engine felt clearly upgraded.
units abilities seems recycled and mixed around once again.
so they just needed to focus on content and level designs....but yet it seems they hired a bunch of noobass mobile developers. in 4 months time, i expected a much more polished mission alpha than what was shown. |
I know most dont play single player, but single player cam in coh2 is closer to mission alpha. |
wtf is with those redactedss?
i am all for cheeky marketing and gutso confidence....
but the state of mission alpha, it has too many niggling issues FOUR months from launch, many are fundamentals you expect to be ready now....
I fear relic team is getting ahead of themselves and rather amatuerish in marketing coh3. |
AEC command comes earlier aura to team mates!
On the command vehicle: -50% accuracy and +100% reload penalty
Infantry: +20% accuracy, -20% cooldown, -20% reload
Vehicles: -30% reload, -30% cooldown, +30% accuracy, +15% penetration
P4 command slower to deploy, vets like a snail and only aura buff a 10% health nowadays! |
