Honestly, UKF feels like Ost, like worse Ost to be exact
Infantry Sections are like Grens, only more expensive, worse on the move, and/or out of cover (i'm not sure if they that much better even with cover bonus) IS only start working when you pump them full of fuel, mp and munitions (and they still won't have a snare)
UKF gets a T0 Vickers for 260mp, which is very much like an MG42, only much worse
UKF has a vehicle based flamer, only worse (yeah, it's cheaper for sure)
UKF gets a sniper, only worse and comes slightly later (sure it can ping at vehicles, and it's fun but thats not why you get a sniper for)
UKF gets a mortar, only it's immobile
UKF has a Centaur, which i guess is close enough to a Ostwind
UKF has a Cromwell, which is like a P4, only less armoured, and has worse AI
Basically I feel like bunch of the UKF roster is "like Ost, but worse", not much worse, but enough.
Worse, and with worse options, too.
No pgren equivalent
No halftrack
No casemate TD
No heavy for call in meta like the tiger
No spotting infantry like pios
No cheap squad like ostruppen
No heavy AI AoE vehicle
No rocket Arty |
A bit scary if a those stats get carried over indeed.
Would be
My memory is that the cosmetic changes are applied as a single action and the decrewing does nothing to check for these applied changes or roll them back.
The stat changes however are tied to veterancy and losing that veterancy applies correctly. The new shells and skirts are just visuals.
But maybe wait for somebody not typing from memory on their phone to confirm this, though |
AFAIK this is cosmetic only, and because the vet changes can't be rolled back if recrewed.
Same thing applies to Ost tanks that have vetted up to armored skirts.
But it has been a while since it was brought up and I could stand to be corrected on the stats not carrying over. |
Maybe if we actually fixed the UKF pitiful roster and reliance on static emplacements, we could make them fun to play as and against.
Nothing less fun than a painfully handicapped army. |
just roll back the tommy and buff the Tactics upgrade
but bolster upgrade should be move to Company command post
History has proven this cripples ukf against sniper play. Back in the UKF beta bolster DID come later, it was specifically brought forward because of the issues they had dealing with snipers: low model count, expensive individual troops, awful moving accuracy and no reliable counters.
Their own sniper now aiming faster than a vet 0 ost sniper recloaks helps a bit, but it has not addressed the underlying problems. |
I like it! Though the Panzerbüchse needs to be tested carefully, because weapons in the campaign are often stronger than in multiplayer.
Having recently played through the ToW missions for the achievements: AT rifles are insane in SP.
In fact, they render actual AT guns totally obsolete, which have a tiny range and no prioritise vehicle button and do like 10 damage a hit compared to the rattle of AT rifle tank munching. |
We can argue about the exact pricing of the mortar pit all day, but that doesn't change the fact it is an awful unit that continues to hobble the UKF as a faction by it's terrible design and inability to retreat.
It's bad. High level play does not make use of it for good reason. |

The mechanic is the same for lmg 42 and bren and there is little reason for any change.
The difference is that the Mg42 is a single more expensive weapon capped at 1 with better stats. It only rolls the dice when you have a unit wipe.
The Bren has been nerfed and requires a purchase of two, which means you run the risk of dropping a bren every time you drop to 1 model, which can be multiple times over the life of one squad.
Buff if and cap it at 1 and it will then qualify for being 'the same for lmg 42' |
If the Panther has the best accuracy among all Axis vehicles then I shudder to think how bad the accuracy of the other vehicles must be.
The Panther already has high base accuracy, that's better than medium tanks and more in line with tank destroyers.
It has 0.06/0.045/0.035 at ranges 0/25/50.
Mediums and heavies have 0.05/0.0375/0.025 at ranges 0/20/40 (0/25/50).
The most comparable tank destroyer, the Jackson, has 0.05/0.045/0.35 at ranges 0/30/60. So the Panther is only slightly behind, which is one of the trade-offs for having a (fast) turret, 960 health, good armor and high mobility.
The only thing it truly lacks is a 20-30% accuracy bonus at vet 3, that virtually every other vehicle gets.
