I quite like the design of the usf AT gun. It's the way the Jackson should operate imo. Great potential but the cost of munitions for reliability later on. Everyone seems to have a hate on for munitions being an important resource that requires decisions like fuel does and it makes me sad.
Locking unit performance behind a timed ability costing munitions isn't the same as a one-time fuel cost. All the enemy has to do is disengage for X seconds and that's munitions down the drain. It's also why the M36 is so much more attractive and ubiquitous in USF builds, since a M1 ATG simply isn't reliable versus heavier axis tanks (whereas it is incredibly capable versus lights and medium tanks).
The Jackson doesn't much equate either for the fact that it's the end-game AT option for USF and essentially has to have good penetration to compete with end-game armor of axis factions.
I have said before that one can look at ROF or moving accuracy or some such with regard to the M36, but penetration is a very, very strange place to look when considering nerfs for this unit.
Fully agree.
Also agree that 2mp cheaper Grenadiers with T4 built will be game breaking. On top of that the capture rate buff is the greatest joke on earth, absolute tragedy.
I'd have preferred they went with my idea and at least granted an experience gain buff to Grens with T4 (or BP3 really). |
P47s are also way overpriced. I think all loiters should just be replaced with something else, but if they're staying p47s could use a slight buff OR cost reduction
The P-47 rocket strike is bugged. The extra damage modifier it is supposed to get for damaging tanks is mistakenly and bizarrely instead applied to UKF emplacements. I made a thread on this some time ago and proved it did not function properly with tests. |
In the Æ, it says that grenadiers have a .25x multiplier to cooldown at close range and a 1.5x multiplier at long range, but I’m pretty sure grenadier DPS is not 6x better at close range, and coh2.db says they only have twice the dps at close range.
How does cooldown work?!
Those cooldown stats are accurate, but cooldown is not the end-all for rate of fire.
Bolt action rifles typically have a 1.125 or 1.165 or something like that seconds wind_down time, where the soldier works the bolt of the rifle. Then there is a short aim time before and after firing, also reduced or increased with range. And then there is a reload time once all shots have been fired (although only the Lee-Enfield uses historically accurate magazine size lol) All of these things come together to form ROF.
Weapons like the M1 Garand and the G43 do not have wind_down, and so benefit most from reduced cooldown. The M1 Carbine and the SVT-40 do, however, at 0.2 seconds, which marginally offsets cooldown. |
Wouldn't call it second worse, considering it has about 15% higher dps than the MG42 at its optimal range:
.50 < mg42 at range 0 - 25
.50 = mg42 at range 25 - 32
.50 > mg42 at range 32 - 40
With respect, I don't know what stats you're looking at, but that's not really correct. M2HB has marginally higher (3% higher at it's best) DPS briefly in the midrange and then falls off again at distance. This is also somewhat inconsistent due to burst mechanics and the far higher aim time (up to 16x higher) of the M2HB compared to other MGs. The MG-42 also naturally benefits more from the 15% incremental accuracy boost due to it's higher burst time and rate of fire.
in any case: current DPS at distance 0/10/20/30/40 (rounded to second decimal place)
MG-42 28.26.../28.26.../18.73.../12.04.../8.45...
M2HB 26.82.../26.82.../18.84.../12.37.../7.70...

MG42 or .50?
The .50 cal has second worst DPS after the MG-34.
I believe from most damage to least it's Dshka, Vickers, MG-42, Maxim, M2HB, MG-34. |
what? Barrage AoE is different from the autoattack one? Better or worse?
Worse, lol. |
The MG34 is arguably the worst MG in the game in both suppressive power and lethality of bullets.
The MG-34 is the worst MG in terms of DPS, hands down, but it has good suppression, probably vying for second-best after the MG-42 along with the M2HB (which, by the way, has the second worst HMG DPS after the MG-34).
For the OP, I don't really see any reason why OKW can't have caches. They already benefit from them in teamgames and the game has been moving towards making the factions more samey anyways. |
The raketenwerfer is literally a Panzershrek on wheels. No difference besides the carriage, which one could argue made it more accurate at range and easier to load. It also entered service in 1943, only one year after the 6pdr/M1 anti tank gun used by UKF and USF respectively.

20 minute game vs a rank 600 something OST
I wasn't lucky enough to get any higher ranking players unfortunately. Went 9-2 for the night with no infantry other than CE and AT guns in a couple games.
I will say this: you played very well, and have definitely convinvinced me of CE viability as a combat unit - for at least the first 5 minutes.
Ostheer player had a bad build of his own from the start (MG into Mortar) and got spooked early on by your mining and early wipe of mined grenadier squad. But even then he had regained map control until the T70s arrived - which I think your playback makes a better case for nerfing than CEs.
Still, this absolutely proves CEs are at least useable as infantry in early game, and talented Soviet player can probably stall into T-70s with them as you did with your early lead.
What would you propose though? Im not sure if anyone wants the slot machine rifles back, and these guys still need to do some damage. I'm still not sure this is something that really requires nerf. If Ostheer player had gone Ostruppen, or even started with Grenadier instead of a Mortar, I think game would have gone very differently, and I dont think the strat would have worked at all vs OKW. |
What's your highest rank, and what rank player do I have to beat for it to be an acceptable replay for you then?
Honestly, I think even a basic automatch attempt with the CE strat could be illuminative, given the weaknesses I laid out. I'd be interested in a replay of even that.
You haven't told me why you think I'm wrong about CEs though, and I am curious to know, but if you feel so strongly about this topic that you would prefer to demonstrate their supposed capabilities in a replay than I can only wish you the best. |
