Compared to maxims, which under most circumstances can simply replace line infantry, mg42 is a joke. You talk as if the mg42 is barely usable. What nerf did it get recently? None. And it shoudnt be nerfed at all. It preforms as it should in osts faction. Its cumbersome but its punch and supression more then make up that. And its in t0. The maxim being able to replace mainline inf is just false. At one point it could. But not since its justified quad nerf a few years back. It doesnt pack a punch, it isent noticably more mobile it needs vet and vet ability to do its primary job, wich is suprresion/controlling inf movement. Its fire sector is smaller and its not noticably more durable despite being six men. And its still is in t2 and costs the same as the mg42 and the m34 is cheaper, both of wich do the job of an mg a lot better. The only thing that is needed is a tiny maxim buff. The mg42/43 are absolutly fine as they are. In: COH2 Balance

I say "better" because if you recrew it with anything but cons you are overpaying to reinforce it and cons have an above average target size. Merge comes at lacking on field healing and ONLY having 3 buggy ladies that have to wank each and every man to get them into fighting shape- but sometimes a lad gets a little too into it and keeps the lass from moving on, assuming they don't get drawn to your allies to try and escape the soviet union.... Trade offs. Strengths and weaknesses. Easier to keep units on the field, but spend more time in base when forced off. Well said. People tend to mis remember the thing soviets lack and only focus on stuff that works and automaticly deem it op regardless. In: COH2 Balance

Thankfully most allies player don’t understand you can just walk out of its firing range and attack from the side. In a 1v1 situation with player being as good as the other, mg42 would definitely need a buff. Only when the allied squads walk at the edge of the arc and have big distance between them will they just walk out off the arc. The mg 42 has great aoe suprression and fast supression. It has slow traverse and standard setup time other wise it would actualy be op. It keeps it in check. But axis players dont understand this. They cry maxim spam from the golden days of the maxim but fail to see this if the mg42 got quicker it would result in a much more op machine gun. And to say the mg42 needs a buff in any situation without a compensating nerf is mindblowing. Really people stating the mg42 is up lol. In: COH2 Balance

It was a very mobile lmg at launch but it wasent spammed at all until it could actually surpress wich in my recolection it could not hope to back then in 2013. Cons and penals also not being good after some changes/nerfs also made the maxim a mainline inf unit. During it hayday the maxim was 1. Cheap 2. Mobile 3. Fast. 4 had good supression. 5 sov mainline inf was pretty lackluster at this time. 1 through 4 have been nerfed along side a buildtime increase. And 5 has been fixed imo. So how people still have maxim spam fears if 1 of the points (the most important point for a mg) is buffed a bit is just illogical. Sustained fire to vet0. vet 1 decrease cost of ability. Or drop the price. And lower the buildtime to normal mg build time regardles. In: COH2 Balance

I cant find those values vs cover in the stat.site maybe tgey have been reverted already? If not and supression is buffed those need to be brought down to normal. In: COH2 Balance

I did the tests again this morning with Grenadiers and got the same result. Does anyone actually have any evidence of the current maxim actually taking 4.3 seconds to suppress in practice? I'd like to see some thorough documentation on this. I am not big on the number crunching cant say it takes 4,3 seconds, ime at vet 0 it has trouble suppressing for example volks pgrens intime to stop them from throwing their nades. I think only ukf has to worry about this as well. Yellow cover in the later game effects maxims a lot as well. Where other mg's suffer less from this cuz their base suppression is just lots better. Needing vet and a vet ability to do the job other do from the get go is just bad. Esp when the other mg,s are cheaper/cost the same. 160 hp extra is no argumant for it to cost as much as the mg42. Either make sustained fire vet0 and vet 1 reduce the cost of the ability. Or make the maxim cost as it preforms currently at 240mp at best. In: COH2 Balance
