I know around the coh community shermans are seen as tin cans, but their sloped armor was actually quite formidable, especially to a 40mm gun. 1. the ostwind has a 37mm FlaK 43 2. the ostwind loses to the sherman handedly unless youre using HE rounds 3. the ostwind even loses to the worst medium tank in the game (T-34-76) i dont see the problem with the ostwind here.... in any case i feel this whole post is unjustified rage... i highly doubt USF is in any need of buffs in its current state considering its one of the if not the best faction in the current meta... The reason why Maxim spam was so popular were as follows: Cons were terrible and unreliable while Maxims had the same cost. Maxim had almost instant setup. Maxim had much better suppression. Maxim had a narrow arc, so multiple Maxims were needed anyway to cover an area. Since then, all of these points have been addressed: Cons rifles are more consistent, 7-man upgrade. Maxim received cost and build time increases. Maxim setup is now 3s, just like all other HMGs. Maxim's suppression was more than halved. Maxim's arc was improved to succ less. Imo, buffing suppression to a middling number, a formation adjustment to reduce deathloop, and then reducing the cost by 10mp to match MG34 would be sufficient. It would still have longer setup than old spammy Maxim. It would still have less suppression than old spammy Maxim. It would still be less competitive with cons than old spammy Maxim. There's no rational reason to fear a return of Maxim spam with proposed Maxim buffs. +1 to this... to anyone who fears the return of the maxim spam this statement should be quoted In: COH2 Balance

That makes no sense when the number of PPSH41s made outnumber every other submachinegun of ww2... the mp40 doesnt even come close... That said, hit the dirt does have grenade dodge utility-even for ppsh cons. its less of a grenade doge utility more of a grenade eat utility... In: COH2 Balance

I'd imagine the actual TTK is different because of PPSH DPS concentration on the last 3 models while MP40 Volks/Grens lose 20% DPS per model killed, and because their 3x Mosins will deal more damage than MP40s while closing in. Cons also get slightly better accuracy and RA buffs from veterancy. conscripts + ppsh seem to beat volksgrenadiers 3 out of 10 times in my trial at range 10... both units were just spawned in at range 10 however and nothing else was involved... in any case i find it unfair that a unit with a 60 muni pricetag has inferior performance to an upgrade with a 45muni pricetag despite the 45 muni upgrade also having additional HE and smoke grenades... TLDR; cons ppsh need help In: COH2 Balance

Thats pretty much its whole point. Aside from that PPSH package changes nothing in general. Point is being that with other options soviet player can have, even considering commander options, PPSH ones are just not preferable. not exactly since cons will get slaughtered beyond range 10... this is in contrast to normal cons vs grens where they are fairly even till range 20... you basically pay the same amount of munitions as an LMG gren to buy a DOCTRINAL and INFERIOR upgrade... They were ment to fight old PGs\LMG grens, considering cons are ment to be used at close to mid range, PPSH cons had their usage and was somewhat direct upgrade. But after so many changes, additions and balance changes, PPSH package is simply outdated, just like many other things with EF armies. the lmg arguably outclasses PPSH cons now... not only are they similarly priced post nerf (ppsh cons used to be 45 muni) but LMG cons still retain the combat advantage due to punishing long range DPS and synergy with the MG42...
