For 30 more fuel and 70 more manpower, you can get a panzer 4, which has a turret, 2 extra machinegins, AOE on the main gun, and blitz.
However, the stug does have 10 more range and 75 more penetration
I never see the StuG. I don’t really know why. When I try to use it, my infantry just get stomped without support from a panzer4 or Ostwind. And it’s bad against tanks because it’s easy to flank, and the bad pathing is extra bad without a turret, meaning you can’t push with it.
If the devs wanted to, they could improve its AI, as after June 1944, all StuGs had small holes drilled in the mantlet and had coaxial mg34s installed, in addition to their top mounted mg42s (tank encyclopaedia)
Just look to ImperialDane games and you will see stugs, almost every single game. In this 2vs2 champ stugs also played in final games.
Problem with stug - pure AT, while you can save 30 fuel and get p4 with good AT and AI and much more mobile. Stugs very good in doctrine with scopes. And as was said - allies don't go so much to spam mediums, SU trying to get su-85 ASAP, USF Jacksons, UKF FF. Because there is panther against which all mediums useless. P4 also outpower almost every medium (especially t-34).
Against allies t4 TD 1 stug not best option. Spam could work, but better use p4. Only real situation when you need stug - when you was cutted from fuel and your enemy try to dive you with spam mediums or lights(t-70 as example), it's the one situation where allies go to spam mediums and where stug show itself the best.

I would prefer JPIV, it gets especially strong at vet2 with that 25% health buff which is huge. Camouflage is a nice thing to have too. Overall it has very good vet.
Still people take the Panther instead...
You prefer JPIV only in case where enemy have more heavy armor (spam kv-1, is-2). Panther more mobile, can crush infantry and much easy to safe. If enemy flank your JPIV it will be dead (like flanked su-85). This why more player choose panther - much more easier to play.

I already sugested separate SU-76 on 2 versions (upgrades):
1. SU-76 for infantry support, with decreased at capabilites (-20 long pen -10 medium pen, damage always 120), but with smoke barrage, free regular barrage and more powerfull like JT barrage for muni.
2. AT version with stealth, timed ability to mark armor (like soviet baby at-gun have) increased penetration and damage (160 with vet 2), regular barrage cost more and fires only 2 shells.
Current SU-76 the same victim of soviet design as cons - you always have better unit (zis or penals). Zis have the same abilities and scales from early to late game. 2 vetted zis could stop any heavy tank, while su-76...only delayed your t4 where all your real armor units and cons upgrade. |

How works recrewing in teamweapons when you use elite troops (shocks, falls, commandos, pathfinders e.t.c).
Does crew get decreased battle stats or their stats stay the same? Cost of reinforce was as for elite units or not?
There is difference between recrew with ACE units and newbie?
If you recrew with newbie and your team wepon got level, battle stats of elite crew will aso increase like in regular situation or only buffs to team weapons will be apply?

While it's true there are some...misunderstandings. Try to play through cons and T2 exclusively every game and what your W\L rating will be in such case? Sovie winrate only because penals exists. |

the 20 fu and 200 mp is for the cons upgrade at tier 3 if u want it earlier, but if u nerf penal u could just increase the mid and close range damage of cons
While i understand logic of such changes, but who will need in such case T1 and T3? T1 was build only for penals as main unit, T3 only for T-70 (hom much you saw when opponent with equal skill to you, build su-76 or M5 instead T-70?). SU player couldn't sit in T3, if you sit in T3 and trying use SU-76 to stop axis armor, it means that something in your game went wrong. The more longer you sit, then smaller your chances to win. It's rule have onle one exception - when you choose doc with call-in heavy, but even is this case, you build 2 zis and wait.
As i earlier said: nerfed penals and nerfed T-70 almost kill 2 SU tier (T1 and T3). If today we see almost every game only penals spam, highly likely we would see only cons and maxims spam (hello again future nerf to maxims). And cycle of balance will start again.

A ways back I had put up the idea to rework cons so that they come bare bones and have global upgrades (like they do now, but actually priced with that in mind) and lose their vet entirely. They then instead of being a unit you are supposed to nurture and grow, become properly expendable. They become bodies to recrew and merge and die. They become field presence and pressure--not a lot, like now, but without paying the same as the enemy is for their proper fighting infantry.
And which unit in such mechanic must be main infantry and fight against germans? Maxim? Or penals? As i told earlier: in each game you must have carry and support, you can't play in game full of supports without damage dealers. Such mechanic looks like Relief infantry, but more micro-oriented. |
I think if such changes will be apply soviet tier design must be reworked as well as cons. We will repair cons and maxims and kill entire tier or maybe 2 tiers (T1+T3). And really viable option become T2+T3 without armor then T4. |

Build entire tier to get ptrs penals? When you have "good new" cons and zis-guns with buffed maxims? Sniper to countersniping? Maybe, but you can still wait until get T3 and counter OST sniper with t-70. I think even nerfed t-70 could kill sniper.
Su-76 underdog now because you have god-blessed zis, it could work from early to lategame, while su-76...it's almost like OST 222, have very narrow usage in some situations, but you better safe your fuel to T4 with t-34.
AA halftrack the same - good only as AA unit in back lines, it have low health, the same problem with OST Flame HT, it good while enemy don't have ATG or ptrs. |
