you could as well make tommies five man squads from the get go, remove bolster and then balance tommies by 5 man squad being standard
Alright but what about the Sappers then since they benefit from bolster as well? Do they become just a 4 man squad or do they also become a 5 man squad by default since no other engineer squad, besides the REs with veterancy, becomes a 5 man squad?
Maybe going the CoH route of having a 5 man IS but with a 3rd upgrade to become a recon section with a snipe ability and camo and costing around 300 manpower and a 4 man Sapper squad would be a good tradeoff for no boaster, I also miss their expert engineer upgrade but they do get it with the heavy engineers upgrade from Anvil somewhat anyhow so I guess it's fine. Or the IS can receive the Recon section upgrade from Hammer. |
For every post like this, you have one corresponding about ost fanboys not wanting soviets to have something that they do, you know, like a working mainline infantry with a weapon upgrade.
Problem is I was a part of the crowd that never understood why the Conscripts never got weapon upgrades while war criminals in brown pajamas did.
So the counter argument of me being biased falls flat on it's face, all I want is an even playing field so it doesn't feel like you're constantly being forced to play handicapped for whatever stupid reason. |
Judging by this I have no doubt that the Soviet fanboys just want to keep their precious new forward retreat point meanwhile the Ostheer can't even get the retreat ability tied to the Forward Supply Station that is more balanced since like Vipper said you could only retreat one unit a time which is both unique and more balanced if you ask me. |
Fuck if I know mate. They tried to merge dow1 and dow2 because they didn't know what fans liked. Coh2 is still coh, just with less refinement on the gameplay and balance because it's more complex. It's got more moving parts. Don't pretend they just don't care as they continue adding content the community wants and continues trying to fix the game to the players tastes years after launch. They are still trying and if they didn't care they wouldn't.
The game is far from perfect but they are constantly trying to refine it.
I'm not pretending about anything, I bought the collector's edition of the game for a hundred bucks and a month after release they put out the first batch of OP commanders that were 5 bucks a piece and took months to nerf and they repeated it several times over with the excuse that they're adding more content to the game, meanwhile the about 10 commanders in the CE were obsolete and just different versions of each other for the most part. You may call this a legal business practices but I call it shady, lowsome and lying to your customers trying to squeeze a few extra bucks out of them like a cow being milked. So this game was about the money from the day of it's release, I don't know what would have been different if THQ were still around but judging by the DLC list for DoW2 probably not a whole lot.
Meanwhile I've probably bought the original CoH about 5 times now and it's worth every penny, I know it because I've been playing it since 2006.
Cartoonier graphics? Did we forget that Pioneers wore purple, or that Grenadiers wore white, or how the Hellcat was as large as a Tiger Tank?
I believe you are confusing textures and models for graphics here. But I will agree on the Hellcat part, I was surprised to learn that it was actually about the size of a car in real life years after playing the game. Still, there's the ghillie suit wearing Grenadiers here plus the golden Tiger Ace but unlike CoH you can't just install a skin pack and make it dissappear. |
Not really fair to say that considering their publisher was bought up and they were forced to finish a game so they could release SOMETHING.
Im sure given the proper opportunity the game would have been just as good, but due to having to be pushed out it's been kinda damage control since launch
Alright then, what's the excuse for Dawn of War 3? All they had to do was bring DoW to the DoW2 Essence Engine version and maybe improve it a bit here and there since it's what literally people asked for, instead we got an animal which didn't know if it was a MOBA or RTS game and they had since 2013 to make it as well this time around without the fear of bankruptcy. |
I just came back to the game, but I find it hard to see how tommy blobs could be a big problem as is said in this thread. They don't have smoke or sprint nor starting grenades so they have zero tools to counter machine guns. They work at long range and want to be stationary, which is exactly what mortars want to play against. OKW/Ost have stock machine guns and leigs/mortars, stock fausts and schrek/raketen/pak to take care of any flanking bren carriers all of which are also good against emplacements/AEC, and the kubel/pios to cap while he is blobbing (and kubel detects his blob when it gets vet). What's the big deal?
Relic and in general people just hate the Brits for some reason, been like that ever since they released the original Brits back with Opposing Fronts.
Whenever I play with them I'm called a lamer, camper and all sorts of other derogatory terms.
Their Army design is also heavily static and defensive for one reason or another, I understand having the option to dig in, but forcing you to rely on stationary and static emplacements and them being in your core roster is a big why the fuck for me to be honest. At least the CoH2 Brits rely a lot less on emplacement than the CoH Brits but it's still a problem for the players playing the Army and the players playing against them in my opinion.
If it were up to me I would go back and redesign both of the British Armies, I even have plans I've shared many times on how one possible way to do it might be. |
Is there anyway to replace British trenches with these?
I have noticed a small minority of players abusing UKF trenches as tank traps (combined with sim city). This would solve that issue.
Yeah they can be but they are currently not in the mod.
It's why he made them in the first place, to replace the current slit trenches that are used. |
CoH just feels like a bigger and better game overall.
CoH2 feels like RTS TF2 and not the good kind either, cartoonier graphics, less potent explosive effects, etc...
Feel free to compare the effects if you don't believe me, Artillery in CoH can strike fear, I always giggle like a school girl after a British creeping barrage while in CoH2 I don't even bother watching it because it's so meh, sounds are also a lot less effective.
It's obvious that this game was meant for a more younger audience to buy the DLC as well, it was not made with the same love and devotion as the first game. |
Please no more forward retreat points. I personally hate those because they strengthen blobbing and trivialize the penalty of retreating.
I don't understand why the Soviets get it in their new Commander then, and no it's not just "Hurr durr not everybody can have everything", it's just that I think the guys with the smaller squads that have a bigger chance to get wiped in one shot would benefit a hell of a lot more from the guys with the bigger squads that have a bigger chance of not getting wiped in one shot plus having more staying power in general on the field. |
Would be nice if units could retreat to it as well, like the new Soviet Airborne's Forward Retreat Point. |
