They need no buffs, they are very cheap and fast to reinforce, which makes them really OP when there is a reinforcement 251 nearby. It is also great when you pick weapons with them - they become 2 times cheaper to reinforce and thus mantain than the same weapons with original crew. That is why ostruppen are best in builds that use multiple weapon teams.

One important argument against buffing them is that HelpingHans is always using them in tournaments and it shown to be one of the most hard to defeat ostheer builds. Buffing a unit that already is unstoppable is not a good idea generally.

Just because one guy with insane micro does a strat best doesn't mean that the unit is good, it just means he'd good at it, I for example have tried to play like him many times but I couldn't.

I'm sorry but not all of us are StarCraft high APM mad lmg l33t pros that do nothing else but stream competitive CoH all of the time.

On topic: Yes, I do agree that a slight buff could be added to the Osttruppen, like for example only being able to repair building at vet 1/2/3 for example? So they can build AND maintain their own defense, OR give them the ability to build sandbags like Pioneers.

They're basically cheap support infantry that's good at static defense, but they can't make any other defensive structures besides Trenches and Bunkers, and you won't always have the space to build those while you could fit a sandbag there for example.

Ost needs their Grens buffed, I am unsure if the WBP fixes that as I still cannot download it.

OKW needs the bullshit requirement on their MG34 removed, and again, the WBP may fix the need for this by buffing and fixing of the Flak HT but I am unsure.

UKF needs their mortar pit to be replaced, nobody can balance the mortar pit properly, nobody, it will always be either too useless, as it is now when the fighting is not near it, or too OP when the fighting is near it, and if you nerf it, you're cutting the British indirect fire capabilities by default since the base 25 pounders are pure bullshit and don't even perform the job they're made for.

And yes, I agree, the Churchill needs an Armor buff and a health nerf, as well as the KV1.

Soviets and USF I don't play as much so I can't really say.

8 vehicles and 9 infantry based units seems like a good mix to me, at least from a gameplay perspective. Half the problem with the original PE was that it had too many useless vehicles (like the munitions HT, Vamp, Scout car etc) and not enough support weapons. I have painful memories. I don't mind a little historical inaccuracy if it means better gameplay.

I don't mind a bit of Italian mix, but like I said, I think the core faction should be German and the doctrines should feature the Italians. I actually drew up some Italian doctrines but didn't add them in because the Post was long enough as it was.

Yeah but it's not the "Panzer Elite" anymore then, it's some sort of mish-mash of mechanized units with a side order of infantry and support weapons.

And yes they did have support weapons, in the form of the 250 Infantry Half-track and 250 Mortar Half-track, plus the 37mm short barrel 250 Half-track being the "Sniper" so to speak, while the Marder was basically your PaK.

But yeah, the Vamp gimmicky, the Munitions half-track was... gay, I mean the whole deal with having absolutely LONG recharge times that required the PE player to gather around a single vehicle or building in order to recharge their abilities faster was obsolete on so many levels, as well as the large amounts of upgrades for the PGs spread around all of the tech buildings, and you needed all of them if you wanted to get the most out of your PGs, which were your only Infantry unit that did everything for the Army.

I think that they just simply needed a single building for upgrading the PGs, no long reload times for their abilities and the old veterancy system back which was pretty unique as with every other Army in CoH, unlike CoH 2 in which only the OKW have a unique veterancy system, plus some actually useful tanks, and not French and Czech scrapped ones with a call in for 2 Panthers that costed you an arm and a leg in order to research and then call in.

I mean really, the best tank non-doctrinally which a German Army can call in should be the Panther, not a Tiger or a KT as it is with the OKW.

If you want the heavier beasts you will have to go with a doctrine, and I'm still sad we couldn't choose to replace the Jagdpanther with a Jagdtiger as a reward unit as we could in Eastern Front mod, and that is why I love that mod so much and want it to become an official expansion to the game.

So yeah, that's my 2 cents on it, I don't think vanilla PE would work in this game, or your Army would have to be called something else since again, it's a mish-mash of mechanized and infantry/support weapon units, not a dedicated Mechanized Army which the PE was.

On the topic at hand: You're giving none-mechanized units to a mechanized Army which makes absolutely no sense.

PE cannot be properly represented in this game because it's units are already shared by the 2 other Armies present.

The best option would be not the early war Africa Korps which would be fighting 1944 Armies with 1941/42 units but a later war German-Italian Army that would be able to represent better both Armies at the time with mixed equipment and new vehicles to the game, like the feared 88 FlaK gun, Italian Assault guns, German officers, Italian men, German weapons and so forth, basically Italian manpower, German equipment and officers.

However I do like the idea of the PE's veterancy making a return, I really miss that.

It's because they get them by default and not doctrinally like the Axis.

I still don't see why the old trench model isn't used.
