you just listed the ONLY build order that the USF has, win or lose thats bassically the build order you have to use. |
i think what keeps it from feeling "live" is that afaik theres no way to talk to the other spectators (unless youre in an observer party with them i beleive, havent tried it yet). Also if you start spectating "late" you still watch the game from the beginning. you can fast foward up to the allowed delay.. Though it just kind of reminds you that youre really just watching a replay file.
I'd rather watch the same replay at the same time with other random spectators and be able to talk with them. This would add a social element where we can discuss the game and the tactics and other kind of "live" interactions. |
..has anyone even played this mod yet? i feel like theres so many praises and further suggestions going in, but theres already dozens of balance ideas in there and i dont think anyones actually tried them yet. Its quite possible that after loading a 1v1 player vs player game that a lot of spammy tactics that previously didnt work. a lot of the changes involve heavily reducing manpower costs so amassing zerg armies would be much easier. |
i wish there was side armor. I hate getting to the side of a tank and thinking "alright im going to get some ok shots" but really its no different from hitting it straight on. |
The smoke grenade doesn't work well against better players. Once they see smoke they just back up about 40m or so and redeploy facing the cloud.
youre not supposed to send your riflemen IN to the cloud (unless you think you have a chance of killing the kubel) youre just supposed to smoke and move on, hopefully get in a building or in green cover or something. or maybe just somewhere else all together. |
as usf, my first fuel purchases are usually grenade package -> LT -> m20 utility car
I usually buy the grenade package after my third rifleman squad. its mainly for the smoke grenade, not the regular grenade. the smoke grenade is a good early soft counter to the kubelwagen, it forces it to move and it keeps your riflemen from getting suppressed. You likely wont secure a kill but it keeps your riflemen alive.
Keep your eye on your fuel and buy the LT as soon as he's available, then get the m20. once you have the m20 the kubelwagen is outmatched.
Alternatively, if you have the commander. the infantry commander (which gives vet1 riflemen at 0 command points) are a good way to go because they have access to anti tank grenades which will make short work of a kubelwagen. Though this requires you have that commander and that you want to use it though.
USF has pretty much nothing to spend munitions on besides grenades, so never be shy with the grenades.
Once the puma comes in it generally comes down to just having enough at distributed amongst your many units (your riflemen should be vet1 by now or greater, your m20 crew has bazookas you can use, and you should probably be considering a captain which comes with bazookas). Stuart does really good against pumas if you use its abilities.

also tank traps provide green cover for infantry. so if you cant make a sandbag wall but you can make a tank trap and you want green cover. then there you go! |
i would never go a 1v1 without a m20 utility car. it can lay mines. its great for flanking enemy MG positions, taking out kubel wagens, taking out sturmpios, chasing down retreating squads.. then once the m20 gets taken out by something bigger, you just need to evacuate the m20 just before the explosion and now you have some early AT units (the m20 driver crew comes with bazookas) |
tbh im kind of excited about the idea of a campaign map. it kind of makes me feel like it might be a smaller version of total war with things going on in the grand campaign and then you also fight the individual battles.
Though i kind of subtly also feel itll just be more like risk and you move your dot to a new territory and play a mission there. |
With basically no information regarding it, and only one picture of the campaign map, why do they think people will pre-order? I suppose a few diehards will, but I can't imagine that many will.
i dont think youre familiar with pre-ordering. pre-ordering games is big business. its all about a trailer, no game info. then offering a minor in game bonus for pre-ordering. Its a HUGE thing right now. very few games dont make use of this. |
