in coh 2 i do it by turning off fire at will (if it is available), move towards the target squad at full speed. as soon as the infantry dodge the tank, make a gentle turn to run them over while not slowing down too much. the whole key to it is just speed, and getting good at getting your tanks to turn without it going into a doughnut. As soon as the tank start doing a dougnut you'll the needed speed to crush.
the only tanks i find that crushing to be relatively easy with is the jackson and the su-76. other tanks are just too slow to do it easily/reliably, and you'll typically do more damage by just sitting still and firing. |
i think the issue is the other way around. plane crashes arent integrated ENOUGH into the game. all aircraft abilities need to include choosing the flight path of the plane, That way you can try to avoid your plane flying over where you think AA might be. Also if the plane crashes youd know that itd crash somewhere along the flight path.
This also has the added benefit of developing a meta game around air flight paths as the other player would actually have to think about where the flight paths might be and position his ostwind/whatever accordingly to shoot it down.
Right now when you call in air, planes just come from random directions and pass over the targeted area. so planes getting shot down and crashing is just totally random in all categories. there could be so much more interesting air meta game. |
whenever someone blames rng its because they dont understand the mechanics at play
"oh man i cant beleive that MG supressed me! stupid RNG"
"i cant beleive that mine killed 3 of my guys! stupid RNG!"
"i cant beleive that at grenade disabled my engine! stupid RNG!"
"i cant beleive that mortar landed on my emplacement and did massive damage! stupid rng!"
its like youre expecting the game to be programmed so all of your opponents miss their shots all of the time. |
if ostheer is starting out engineer spam, then that means hes rushing T2 (usually with the long term goal of calling in tigers). just locate his fuel cache (usually on hit cutoff) and destroy it, itll totally undermine his plan.
There shouldnt be any special build you need to do to counter this. conscripts can beat engineers as long as the engineers arent in close range and in cover. Panzergrandiers are good but wont have anything to do against your much larger infantry force because of the T2 rushing strategy, scout cars will be countered by your conscript's at grenades. |
if its the kind of weapon that has a max of 2 per squad (lmgs, bazookas,..) then it can be dropped.
I think theres a few good reasons for this,
1- it would screw up most squads (eg grenadiers excel in long range, picking up a ppsh would be a nerf for them)
2- weapons would be dropping constantly and itd be hard to figure out which ones the important ones are
3- to play the game well youd have to know the exact stats of every minor weapon type. eg what does more damage a mp40 or a ppsh? - as it stands all you need to know right now is that theyre close quarters weapons. |
taking a tank out of the action to reenforce a squad is hardly an advantage. You had to take a tank out of the action to do it. If youre putting such little pressure that your opponent thinks a good strategy is to take a tank out of battle for almost no reason- I'm sure hes already won and is now toying with you. |
they just need to fix the bug where it can move while setting up and its fine. |
smoke grenades! |
you could say the same thing about okw. you can get a flak half track out quite early if you want to. playing against the OKW my main thought is always "screw everything else, need to get captain ASAP" |
the flak halftrack is a very hard counter to all infantry, especially in large groups. USF doesnt have a way to deal with the flak track until they get a captain.
until you get your flak halftrack, just keep your volksgren in cover, avoid combat etc, they wont be getting many kills until theyre vetted up, so your main focus with them should just be keeping them alive. THeir main utility in the early game is throwing grenades. |
