I embrace any solution that doesn't allow a cqc squad to close in open terrain on a lmg/mg squad in greencover/garrison and win the engagement. |
Ostheer doesn't need a 'redesign' or anything radical. Their core design is solid, it's just a few units that are struggling. In particular they have trouble dealing with blobs and maintaining map control under a hail of indirect. To that, what they need in the short term is:
1. Offensive buff to Ostwind
2. Slight pen buff to P4
Anything else would lead to too much power creep. Thus to further address the current situation of allied dominance we need to:
1. Nerf USF mortar ASAP
2. Wait a few weeks for the meta to adjust (bearing in mind that Ostheer received several buffs last patch)
If Ostheer is still struggling after that we can look at some more factors such as dual M1919s, new SU-85, Tiger durability and tech costs.
It's a little more than just the mortar that's an issue. I consistently run out of gas around t3. I can have 3 vps and both fuels, but rifles blobs with tank support just rek everything in their path. |
17-pounder has an enormous hitbox and only 900HP, which makes it trivial to counter the 17-pounder with tanks or anti-tank guns. It's useless as a unit.
Moreover, the 17-pounder is extremely resilient to:
- Infantry rushes (brace, emplacement armor)
- On-map artillery (brace)
- Offmap artillery (brace)
That is to say that the 17-pounder is extremely vulnerable to all the things it should be resilient to, and invulnerable to all the things that it should be ridiculously vulnerable to. The counter system is just wrong.
Just make 17lbr a clone of Pak43 (including vulnerability to off-map artillery) and call it a day.
I'd like to see them both at least viable. And maybe both at 10 pop cap. |
After some of the suggestions I have seen lately, I wish Katitof-Kenobi was back right now to whip these people in line. Trust me
T34/76 Nerf? Over an HULL MG BUFF? I would rather fistfight a mutated alaskan grizzly with 1 arm than spend 10 minutes building a reasonable argument against something that is so unreasonable.
now then...
Grens HP from 80 to 82 to increase durability without some "lets make it 5 man and add volks in front of it" kind of thing
Pgrens need tactical movement instead of medkits as a vet 1 ability
Prosttruppen needs a small grenade instead of medkits as a Vet 1 ability
Ostwind needs to be more lethal
T4 already got a few buffs with brummbar, Panzerwerfer is a wiping machine, and panther is panther, maybe make the OST Panther have the same stats as OKW panther (Why are they different in the 1st place?) and were good.
Kubel needs to cost 5 fuel again, buffs in general (durability, offensively, and faster vet) to compensate.
Flame Hetzer needs to vet faster
Sinthe: and one or two CP lower!
Don't get me started on commanders, I already made a thread about that...
And Obers need either a cost reduction or 80 to 82 hp buff too.
I think the t34/76 is stronger than people are giving it credit. A slight fuel cost increase would be enough, before I said 20 but 10 might be enough.
Panther underperforms. I have proof! I did a bunch of videos comparing tanks head to head. I might do more.
Everything else you've said is pretty reasonable. We need a balance policy of tweaks, not sledgehammer changes. |
For once I think emplacements are fine, aside from 17 pounder pop cap.
What I think is the issue is axis being overnerfed, the okw being forced to pay more for healing is dumb as hell.
Ostheer is too weak in a few areas, they need a myriad of very light buffs on a few units. Namely the 222 mg, panzer4 penetration, and panther moving accuracy. g43 upgrade.
Americans just need their mortar changed to the 60mm.
I disagree with the 222 buff. It's fine where it is. |
Allies unit performs good = time to nerf. Is that logic works in that case?
This is kind of how Relic has been balancing axis for the last year.
T-70 will perform good only if you mirco it constantly and do it very well, with all those pathfinding issues and other stuff. 1 mistake and it can be 2-shoted by AT/medium tank and you gonna lose 70 fuel, which is a lot. It also easy counters with mines, which both axis factions have.
You need to micro everything. Luchs will die to 3 zooks/piat pens and zooks/piat can be on all USF/UKF infantry.
That's how all light tanks in game works, actually. Nice firepower boost in medium game, with high risks of fast losing it without effective control.
Yes, it most definately is a glass cannon.
In my understanding - T-70 is pretty bad unit, cos it costs a lot, but it can't be used effectively and without risks in late, so it doesn't worth investments. Better save that 70 fuel, build T4 and call something, that will not only be effective right now, but will be effective later.
I know it's effective because I scramble to address it everytime I see it and it can easily cover it's own cost to produce.
Wait... there is no such units in T4... Ok, T-70 is fine then.
There is a new meta emerging in this game due to the recent changes, that punishes skipping light vehicles.
T70's power level to cost is completely fine you guys. It needs to cover 9-10 models (15-25MPish) to cover it's MP cost and, assuming 1 fuel=5 MP, another 10-15 models. Granted if it gets even one wipe on a vet'd squad I consider that an equal trade. |
Problem is, British early game is extremely weak due to high cost of units. Both IS and Vicker HMG cost 280 mp. HMG on carriage comes way too late and therefore without HMG from base building British would have been destroyed early game each time.
I agree the need some love for their early game, but that has to be balanced with their late gave power. Comets>panthers, cromwell > p4, a pair of fireflies > heavy armour. |
We need something to kill emplacements, panzerwerfer is shit at that and lefh is doctrinal.
Panther needs dmg buff or reload.
Tiger frontal armour.
Emplacements are managable, currently.
Panzerwerfer is ok.
Panther needs a buff in damage or a cost reduction to make losing one not so economically devestating.
Tiger frontal armour is a must. Seriously, what doesn't penetrate it. |
Turn them back to the original wfa launch stats, where they get extra damage to retreating units |
I keep them in pairs to cover each other and place them in surprising places. |
