Commander calling - Soviet Industry. Where something that reflect word "Industry"? It will be better if it have:

1. Passive ability that significant reduce build time of armor units
2. In T4 instead of Kv-8, cheap "downgraded" version of t-34/76 (with worse accuracy and rate of fire than regular)

Maybe its time to bring back the red banner T34/85s or the Green T34/76 reserves from the cancelled commander? I could definitely see industry being the commander of choice for a revamp.

if the the T34/76's performance was tenable for anything above 1v1 then it would be a different matter.

if this was regarding Ost/OKW/USF or even UKF then it wouldn't matter as they all have solid non-doctrinal tanks.

Exactly. In all honesty I think buffing the 76 to between the current 76 and 85 would put it in line with the Ostheer panzer IV but not quite, while buffing the 85 a bit would make it closer to a Soviet light Panther. You could then adjust prices and go about making the stock army stronger.

I believe people argued for the KV1 to be buffed on the grounds of it being utterly shit before XD

KV-1 was superior to Panzer IV H even before the buff. People simply though T-34/85 was a better choice and they where right. It was a better (maybe still is) but that has to do with T-34/85 and not the KV-1.

Anyway, this thread was to see if people think the commander should be changed.

T38/85 OP discussion can go in it's own thread, if you believe it to be the case-I don't but there we go.

Urban defense is a very powerful commander and the only way to make this one meta would be to make it OP. One has to start by nerfing Urban defense ore removing KV-2 from that commander...

Adding T-34/85 would make this doctrine too OP, especially in team games. You have fuel drops and pretty competent 85s plus heavy KVs a bit much.

but then U will need to increase the cost

Ops

Another option is removing the repair ability for the mini at gun, fits with the theme of industry and early war years

I think 85s would be OP with the fuel drop as well as overshadow whatever other tank is in the doctrine.

All in all I feel like the Soviet armour is in a good place and even more so when increasing fuel gain via drops. The theme is expendable armour not superior armour so the 85 doesn't fit in in that regard either.

That said I do think self repair could get the axe and something else in its place, perhaps con ppshs so you have another munitions option aside from the air drop that also fits the theme of soviet industry and fills the hole of infantry.
Or rapid conscription to aid the horde mentality.

In the past (before the fuel drop was put in) I suggested making CE "work" a cache to increase resource gain at the cost of manpower via upkeep kinda like the old version but with counterplay.

What’s people's views on the fuel drop? Personally I despise it.

Useful for rush and when u have a lot of mun, give the advantages to build mun chaces and use it for both mun and fuel with conversion

Not objectively, no. Yes in a 1v1, the KV-1 had a better than coin toss chance to beat a Panzer 4 H particularly without vet. But the Panzer 4 had better AI and better AT with AA capability and more mobility costing 25 fuel less. It was definitely more cost efficient and flexible.

Test KV-1 vs PzIV both H and J would win the majority of times. It is better tank. (AA capability is not really that important), the KV-1 now has similar AI without any MU cost.

The KV-1 has enough AT to beat the PzIV and it does not need any more.

Green T-34's were absolutely terrible. If anyone remember the CoH2 beta where every penetrating hit inflicted a mini-crit on the vehicle, that's what Green T-34's were. If the T-34 was hit by another tank, it would disable some part of it. Red Banner T-34-85 would be awesome though, the Soviet faction has no elite armored vehicles.

The theme is expendable armour not superior armour.

Company of Heroes emphasizes unit preservation and tactics, there is no such thing as "expendable armor".

Basically, T34 equivalents of Tiger Ace and a dual call-in of vet3 tanks. No idea if they had anything else going for them akin to TA.

There were also green T34, which were literally osttruppen tanks, less health, half the damage and crew shock after being hit by anything larger then rifle.

Or so were the rumors.
