Katukov if you wanna know how a garbage launch and pay2win trash for years looks like, you should have been here in 2013-16 for CoH2, but I know for a matter of fact you're some random who picked up the game for free in 2018.
CoH3's launch is infinitely better in every single regard.
But yeah, feel free to stick with dead CoH2 bro, 3v3 is somehow gonna be even more dead than before now so maybe you achieve something like 3 digit ranks now
Personally, I'm thinking 3-6 months depending on how many issues there are at launch. I also want to see the meta stabilize a bit first.
I think that is a poor decision.
I think the most interesting part of a multiplayer game is when the meta has not been defined and players are exploring different options. This keeps games fresh and full of surprises. On the other hand, strong meta games such as CoH 2 in 2023 guarantees repeat strategies (such as Pathfinder meta for USF)
Early versions of the game are truer to the game developer's original vision and is less "tainted" by community forum complaints that result in mirroring of gameplay mechanics in the name of balance as we saw in CoH 2. The most enjoyable experiences in CoH 2 was immediately after releases (such as WFA). There we saw exciting elements of the game such as OKW 33% fuel handicap, USF's flamer riflemen and powerful Easy 8s and M1919s, m20 scout car with the bazooka, refuel & refit mechanized company, non-doctrinal Panther and Panzer for OKW, locked trenches for UKF. Unlike most other games such as BF2042, CoD, Starcraft where you do not see significant changes to the design of the game besides bug fixes, Company of Heroes 3 most likely will be a different game within 6 months.
You will have a progressively more difficult time joining in multiplayer as the game advances as the community accumulates experience and hours in the game. An example is how new players today struggle in CoH 2 due to facing a veteran community of anywhere between 500 - 5000 hours in the game since 2012
Considering Relic Entertainment is unlike other developers, in that they have a track record of listening to community members throughout CoH 2 and CoH 3, there is a benefit in you joining in early as you may have influence in the decisions of Relic.
If you have played the playtest and have enjoyed the game, I see no reason to delay it for further inspection. It is understandable if you had qualms with the game, though.
If you care about making a name for yourself in the competitive or content creator community, it is a good idea to start early
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I think Sega/Relic executive leadership has falling into the trap of complacency. ESG investments is highly dangerous and corrupt. As a loyal fan that is justice-for-all I strongly advise Sega to reconsider their corporate policy. ESG investments is a house of cards just waiting to collapse.
Not if, but when and how.
Arch Warhammer did a decent job exposing DoW3 failures and unethical gaming journalism.
Briefly talked about ESG investments in Relic/Sega marketing (social credit system for woke corporations) and the future of Relic here;
Quote from Arch Warhammer;
If Sega support woke capitalism/ESG investments it'll be a disaster with long term consequences for both Relic and Sega. And yes, this includes legal consequences as equal justice under the law.
Please be informed that western judicial branch has plenty of laws to restore justice it just needs to be enforced equally. Justice are not only for the rich and powerful.
So choose your allies carefully as your corporate future depends on this.
In future class action lawsuits I fully expect big corporations will face bankruptcy due to unprecedented corruption, fraud and fake money making schemes.
Western billionaires that try to evade justice + taxes are trying to hide their fraudulently wealth in 'charity'/foundations. For proof of this Norman Dodd Special Committee to Investigate Tax-exempt Foundations exposed this decades ago.
With the propaganda machine trying to guilt trip disempowered western males while ignoring Tax-exempt Foundations subversive and criminal activities is very evil and wicked.
Also need to know. As video below highlight there is two ways a publicly traded company can make money.
Joe Rogon Interview Adam Curry. ESG's Are the Reason for Woke Corporate Interests.
EXPLAINED: ESG scores are why EVERY corporation is going WOKE
At best, ESG is another corporate fraud/fake money making scheme. At worst, ESG is evil pro-WEF social engineering that intend to turn the west into a George Orwell animal farm.
IMHO, this wasteful spending and/or propaganda is the nr.1 threat to CoH3s longevity as it's only a matter of time before this house of card collapse. Not if, when and how.
Please be warned that when I say propaganda this is not just me. Speaking for my own country we have current and former university professors calling this out as a dangerous propaganda machine.
Everyone on this planet has spiritual protection at their disposal, the real question is who is protecting who?
As team humanity wins the spiritual war, all remaining black hats lose their spiritual protection.
The reckoning & downfall for evil and wicked western billionaires club:
TLDR version;
If Relic/Sega executive leadership blindly support wasteful spending and/or woke capitalism this will not have a happy ending. As a "woke corporation" and executive leadership that also make your corporation subject to future class action lawsuits as breach of fiduciary duty. Im confident that people losing their pension funds and life savings to this ESG money making scam/stock market crash won't be happy.
lgbtq and female representation in volksgrenadier squads when? Not if, when
Would be cool to let players know that they can disable UI for a few seconds to take a cool screenshot!
Tactical Pause and the marketing behind it is a great strategy to onboard new players. There's a GeneralsGentlemen video from a couple years ago talking about RTS games and the statistic that always stuck with me was that, on average, 80% of RTS players only touch single player. The more Relic can do to get those players in and increase sales makes the game look good from the SEGA POV. And the new Italy campaign will increase replay-ability of the singleplayer so we're going to have high player numbers which is a great thing.
For lots of us hardcore multiplayer fans like me tactical pause doesn't matter too much. But for my 60 year old dad he'll love it.
Thank you Gbpirate, for responding to this thread so others don't need to. This thread should be closed by this statement here.
tl;dr tactical pause is an extremely important feature for increasing sales of this game and enjoyment of the majority casual player base.
Please Relic no unhistoric skins. You know, there are SOOOOO many historic skins that werhaboos and WW2 fans will buy in record speed and give you money.
This doesn't make sense economically or in terms of games.
Relic, you're not "out of" skins, its not hard to find any kind of camoflauge patterns. Here I will give some ideas:
* Netting for Panzer IV
* Netting for Sherman
* Desert skin for infantry
* Winter coats for infantry
* Rangers with netting on helmet
* Grenadiers with the hat
* Grenadiers with the helmet
Or look at Hell Let Loose, they make money from those skins for infantry.
* Medics with white helmet
* Medics with normal helmet
Your ELO was higher than the enemy team's. The ELO estimate expected you to win, but you lost. Therefore, you get a "high" penalty and downranked.
Second game, your ELO and the enemy team's ELO are more closely matched. The game is closer to 50:50, therefore you don't get as much of a bonus if you win.
Basically, everything working as intended.
The same thing occurs if your ELO was always higher than the ELO of the enemy team (which, if I get you right, probably was not the case). Then you get penalized for losing, but don't gain much from winning since you were expected to win in the first place. Also here, everything working as intended.
Very good explanation. In other words, this ELO algorithm is not exclusive to Relic, and it rewards/penalizes based on probability of winning/losing
You can solve this "problem" by just zooming in yourself though.
Then you'd have to put yourself at a disadvantage just to enjoy the game more. And I'm talking about the default zoom level, as in what the game is "supposed" to be at
I think zoom out is cool and all that but, no way, I don't like zoom out. CoH has always been up close and personal. Even if zoom out lets you strategize better, I prefer the unique zoomed feel of CoH that makes it CoH.
Not sure if Relic made this decision based on feedback from singleplayer Pre-Alpha where people complained that it was too zoomed in.
Solutions for birds eye view:
1. Tactical map
2. Minimap
Reasons why traditional vCoH/CoH2 style zoom is better:
You can see individual soldier animations better
Game becomes more about micro and tactics and less about grander strategy
Tactical map and minimap usage increases, makes the game fun
You can see grenades incoming and the grenade timer better
You can enjoy the close up details of soldiers and tanks
Tanks feel more massive and scary, soldiers look cooler when bigger. Especially tanks, this sold CoH 2 a lot for players.
Slightly easier to click on units
Easier to discern units from background foliage and map scenery
Great for streaming, youtube, marketing, and media in general ---> Seeing the soldiers shooting their guns up close or the tanks is always cinematic and awesome
Feel free to add more...
Well without nitpicking, few core concepts are already coping/improving the ones from vCoH.
Point system alone is probably the biggest change so far, because CoH2 system pretty much affected littery the whole game. And every single point on the map is pretty much point of interest worth trying to capture. Problem with CoH2 system, is not even the amount of points, but rather the fact that usually in total (excluding the VP), there are only 4 points of interests and unless you just want to either delay or cut-off the enemy, there is no reason to go beyond this (unless its 1v1), since regular points are effectively pointless to the economy, making game more static and predictable.
Well and the fact that faction actually have choices now, which will affect the economy. Not the ones UKF had with "Duh, should I delay my AEC by 30 seconds by picking grade" or "Side grades are here to delay tanks".
Those are at least two core differences which arent subject to change.
And if we start speculating about what balance of the game will be, considering relic keeps vCoH in mind, we can expect much less survivable inf, powerfull yet vulnerable tanks, soft-counters actually working as support units (hello deflection damage), over-all slower teching\teching and maybe even the fact that rebuilding LVs\Vehicles or going multiple of them wont put you in instant disadvantage economy vise.
As for commanders, I honestly think, that its just an over-all improvement over CoH2 system, but I have no illusions about them. There still will be top picked commanders and there still will be meta with the most commonly picked abilities, simply because its hard to balance so many battlegroups (since we will be getting more then 3 per faction) and abilities to be equally worth picking. I see them as a massive QoL improvement and game improvement, but not something game changing or ground breaking.
vCoH nailed doctines because there was only 3 per faction with 6 abilities in each, it was much easier to make them distinct and usefull.
But to make it clear, I didnt play vCoH super competitively back in the day so I might not have super deep knowlage about it, but it was enouth to see the difference between it and CoH2 in how gameplay changed and especially after all CoH2 patches.
Point being, a I hear a lot that CoH2 is masterpiece RTS (at least gameplay wise), while imo a lot was really downgraded in CoH2. QoL and UI was improved in it, thats for sure, but not the gameplay. Thats why I doubt that they will like CoH3, if they didnt like vCoH gameplay in a first place, since its a reference for Relic now.
WHAT... THE STRATEGIC POINTS IN COH2 ARE ALMOST AS GOOD AS FUEL POINTS. 2 OF THEM EQUAL TO FUEL POINT PLUS MUNITIONS.
No the criticism for coh2 is opposite what you said. Every point is too valuable.
In vCoH you had high and low level territories. You also had manpower territories. This meant that territories differed greatly in their value. There might only be 1 high fuel but 4 low fuel. There might also be 2 low fuel and 1 high fuel.
In coh2, even the standard territories grant you fuel and munitions and this means vCoH did a much better job with points of interest
