The only thing that saves Riflemens in the early game is a great grenade, I have many times forced a player out of the game simply by wiping his Sturmpioneers with one grenade in the first minutes of the game. The rest of the Riflemens are pretty so-so. I'll try to replace them with Paratroopers and give the bazookas to Riflemens. |
AoE IV and CoH 3 used the same Engine aka Essence Engine 5.
CoH 2 used Essence Engine 3 and DoW 3 Essence Engine 4.
I hope Microsoft and Sega money served to game engine code modernization and optimization. 🙏
Well, I highly doubt it. There were many complaints on EoA4 about poor optimization and that the game only uses one core in the processor. |
I think the failure of CoH2 to gain esports attention should be an indicator that the devs should move more towards fun and interesting gameplay instead of going the "muh esports" route again.
I think this is due to a misunderstanding. It's not esports that attracts people to the game, but the game that attracts people to esports. If the game sucks but is focused on "e-sports" (DoW3), then nothing good will come of it. A good quality game attracts a diverse audience, including people who organize tournaments. So the main recipe for "e-sports" is a good, interesting game. |
The IS-2 would definitely be in a better position if it wasn't for only two commanders, of which one is viable in the game. Either make the IS-2 an analogue of the King Tiger due to exclusivity, or you to give the IS-2 to as many commanders as possible, just look at the Tiger in how many commanders is it? Five, six? Then remove the KV-1 in T4 and replace the KV-1 in the commanders with the IS-2. |
Yes, something definitely needs to be done with the IS-2. IS-2 is only in two commanders of which only one is viable. The IS-2 must be made an analogue of the King Tiger and not the Tiger, in order to somehow justify it in such a number of commanders. |
My biggest complaint about COH 2 is vehicle pathing. For example when you use reverse vehicle and then it goes forward for like 3 seconds before going backwards or when you issue a move command and it spins in circles.
In CoH3 Alpha there was an even more terrible pathfinding. The tank simply spins in place when ordered to back out. The pathfinding of the infantry was also poor. Hopefully this will get some serious work. |
The biggest problem I see with Lend-Lease Commander is the lack of an Artillery or Air ability on the map. You have a truck that increases resources, but you have nowhere to spend your ammo. You can overlay the entire map with mines and you will have a ton of wasted ammo. |
I played yesterday and built two M4C, either I had a bad day or standard shells are just awful: two M4Cs shot one Pz4 each fired three shots and all the shells bounced, 6 non-penetrations is just disgusting. |
Modding tools are very important. We know a bunch of games that have gone from being a mod to a standalone game (like Dota), we know that mods sell the game (like the Desert Combat mod for BF1942 sold 3 million copies of BF1942). And I hope Relic fixes the mistake CoH2 didn't provide full modding tools that now could give tons and tons of content over the 8 years of the game's life and CoH2 could be a different game now, with more unique commanders and units. |
Cool video, I definitely agree that custom content would make or break an RTS.
I think he had an interesting point in that an extreme focus on esports puts players off. I think the last 2 years of Coh2 is a good example of that. I've gone on a rant on it too many times so its nice to see someone that agrees. Hope Coh3 doesn't go the same way.
Because according to statistics, eSports is about 10% of the game's audience. And reworking the game so that these 10% would be comfortable to play without thinking that other people can lose fun in the game is a very bad idea. That's why I don't like all the esports hype and balancing around the esports mode. For eSports, there should be a separate game mode. |
