I am really liking this commander after the patch notes. I think this will make the airborne more of a doctrine choice over shocks and guards. I love the vet 1 strafe choice - very fitting for the doctrine theme!
No, it does not. Airborne still has no sense of spawn behind enemy lines. The only possible use is to capture a point. If instead of the IL-2, the airborne would have had a high-precision artillery strike (as World in Conflict airborne) to destroy artillery or headquarters behind the front line, that would be the point.
I don `t know who is working on this commander - but one idea is more absurd than another. IL-2 strafe? If it were not the airborne trooper but an aviation spotter or airborne officer - that would be logical. But an ordinary airborne infantryman does not have access to air support, just give them explosives, give them meaning to appear in the rear. With each change, I’m more and more disappointed in the commander.
How about we let them have a passive molotov weapon, the same way the REs in the new american get to fire rifle grenades.
They still need to be in spitting distance to throw it so it'll hardly matter, but at least it would look cool
Jokes aside. A tier 4 upgrade that just gave consctips combat training / veteran leadership? In practical terms it could just be a swap of the usual conscript mosin for one with better long range accuracy, and drops their target size back to normal levels?
No idea if an Icon Swap is possible but the campaign already has three different consctipt icons.
You could even bundle the hideously overpriced molotovs and AT grenades into one upgrade that you need to get the second upgrade
I agree, I have long said that by getting the 3rd level of veterancy, conscripts become veterans or line infantry or just "strelki". When conscripts get the 3rd level of veterans, you can spend resources (man power / ammunition?) For "reorganization" - change the name, replace with better Mosins, replace the icon with standard Emblems on the buttonholes of the infantry units of the Red Army / NKVD type 1940.
Two rifles on the background of the target - this shows that they have become more professional, accurate. May be replace Molotov by frag grenade at the third level of vet.
IS-2 expensive uselessness. He demanded a buff for a very long time. But there is another problem with the IS-2 - it is only in two commanders, and in my opinion only one of them is useful - the IS-2 with the shock troops. At the same time, the Tiger is in huge numbers of commanders and he is not bad.
Bofors for Soviets sounds like a nice idea since their only AA option is the Quad HT and they lack a stationary MG emplacement but with the amount of hate the unit gets on the Brits I doubt it.
As far as the Churchill AVRE goes for the Brits it doesn't fit the "lend-lease" theme of the commander sadly.
The fact is that Soviet engineers worse repair then British and there is no such synergy as with other British structures and commanders.
Plus, this commander was push finally buff IS-2.
I really like the idea of AVRE in this commander it fits with that "urban" assault theme but it will be a bit OP with Thompson Tommy (complete shut down of Axis infantry).
USF - I say no - this doctrine is lacking that "punch" and jeep is mainly a "hit & run" tactic.
Soviet - LOVE the idea but will this fit the theme?
The Soviet Airborne Forces had separate tank battalions (consisting of 50 tanks) armed with amphibious T-37/38 and T-40 tanks. Of course, some of these tanks will be commanders to control the battalion. Could be T-70 or Valentine commander tank will be more useful.
Again according to the Soviet test it Full auto did not perform good. The AVT the had little differences in production and give an added option that was simply not that good. It could still be used at semi auto MOD but that does mean that its auto mode was good.
I know, I read the test results, and the weapon manufacturers responded to the front-line reports with test results, but the soldiers wanted automatic fire in critical situations and they converted their SVT to AVT in field workshops. The manufacturer put up with this, and began to produce only AVT.
The American M2 carbine has a similar history - when in 1944, US soldiers liberate the Belgian FN factory, they began to convert their M1 carbine into fully automatic M1 carbine. After the inspection of the troops, this fact was revealed and an official set for converting M2 was developed for the soldiers.
According to test contacted by Soviet army it was inferior to SMGs close and semi auto rifles long range.
Personally I am not against the AVT maybe for the new Soviet paratroopers if they can get the animation and sounds right, but I see little reason for it. You can get similar result (or even better) with Assault Guards and the ppsh/SVT combination.
Finally each faction seems to be better oriented to fight a specific ranges and the soviets seem to have units for all ranges thus I see little point in it.
The meaning of why the soldiers demanded more AVT - the density of fire. German artillery shoots the Soviet positions and trenches. Artillery caused serious losses, but the remaining soldiers still have a high density of fire due to AVT, which makes it possible to stop the German attack. Many reports from such a situation came to the plant production of SVT-40, and that is why since 1943 SVT was produced only as AVT.
