Anyone feel something for giving Airborne Guards an option to upgrade two elite zooks, like USF Paratroopers?
Soviet Airborne is supposed to be a doctrine with an early-game focus, but it doesn't have any counters to light vehicles like meta doctrines do (no M-42 or PTRS Guards). This makes the doctrine a risky option. This change offsets that a bit and gives a unique option to the Soviets. To make Zooks more tempting, make it so Airborne Guards can still upgrade Zooks once they've upgraded the free PPSH's. Secondarily, they could be given mines, camouflage or even timed demo's with it, like Paratroopers.
It sounds good to me, as in the rear of the enemy Special Forces, their utility is about zero. Let at least be a good antitank support.
I understand that, but every time I propose something I get told that a 6man mg can’t be too good. When I suggest it gets reduced to 5 or 4 men, I get told that 6 men are there to compensate for the deathloop.
Apparently either solve the deathloop or the maxim remains useless.
It's funny that in reality the full crew of Maxim 7 people:
I think it is possible increase the suppression and not do Maxim OP, need a bit to work with the characteristics.
I think the Maxim should be just replaced with the mg34 model with different stats to get rid of the deathloop. The game would lose some authenticity, but would become much more functional.
Again, all Maxim needs is a bit direct suppression buff, but not build up complex mechanics: Maxim is a machine gun, he should have good suppression, and not pay ammunition for what he should do by default, like other machine guns.
If early game AT is needed maybe an air dropped M42 could fit the bill instead of like the DSHK or something, similiar to the US Airborne.
I offered M-42 airborne anti-tank group. It is similar to the United States. M-42 drop with a conscript squad, you can capture and merge. Or improve conscript for antitank weapons, it takes away the merge, gives anti-tank grenade and heavy anti-tank mine (like the German AT mine) and an ambush. and to be different from T0 conscripts, he can get a bazooka, anti-tank rifle grenade with a large radius.
This sounds like a better idea than a command tank (altough you could move some of the concepts over to it). Did you feel anything for "Air-Ground Coordination" or "Improved Radio Equipment"?
Airborne Guards could do with a timed demo, like Airborne Paratroopers, it would be enough to take down a Howitzer and be easier to balance than a strike.
This is exactly what I have always said. For the Airborne, a meaning is needed to appear behind enemy lines. And the destruction of the Howitzer or the OKW Headquarters with an artillery strike - this is what the Airborne really need.Currently, it's just a theatrical appearance without meaning.
Relic have said no new models can be added into the game
So I said: we need new modding tools, Relic is unable and unwilling to support the game. So give the tools to those who want to do it. In the current state of the Airborne Forces, the commander does not look like a commander for the official game, the Airborne Forces do not have parachute animation, skin, no abilities that were actually used by the Airborne Forces.
Make the Airborne HQ as a British HQ: reinforcement, reconnaissance aircraft, transfer the IL-2 23-mm strafe to the headquarters.
Give Airborne Guard artillery strike as Pathfinders reconnaissance group. they don’t make sense to appear in the enemy’s rear, they can only cut off the fuel point, they can’t even cut off the usual point, as most likely it will be resources cache.
There are also a few unique stuff for the Airborne Forces, but this requires new moding tools:
37-mm airborne cannon model 1944
crew: 4 people
weight: 209 kg
rate of fire: 15-25 shots per minute, technical rate of fire 25-30 shots per minute.
armor penetration: for the 37-mm cannon a sub-caliber UBR-167P was developed and produced, piercing 97 mm of armor at a distance of 300 meters.
T-40 light tank was in the airborne separate tank battalions.
weapon: 12.7-mm and 7.62-mm machine guns. Also armed with a 20-mm automatic cannon with a rate of fire of 750 rounds per minute.
It can be build in T0, after construction T3 can be improved by 20-mm cannon.
76-mm mountain cannon model 1938
was in service with the artillery batteries of the Airborne Forces.
crew: 6 people
weight: 785 kg
firing range: 10,700 meters (best in class)
maximum projectile speed: 500 m / s (best in class)
projectiles: high-explosive, smoke, cumulative, canister.
My proposal here is not to make it a copy of the German and US infantry guns. Make the Soviet mountain cannon a miniature version of the ML-20 and leFH 18. Can move but only after deployment, can shoot only after deployment, no possibility of auto-fire only like ML-20 and leFH 18.
Confirmation bias as far as I can tell. Maxim in the mod suppresses at mid-high range in about 2,5 seconds (near the end of one burst), which is the same as in the live patch.
Unless there's something that causes a bug that gives it higher suppression.
And I think that we should stay on such direct buff. Performance can be changed, but it is definitely more correct than to pay ammunition for what it should do by default.
I fully agree with this, CoH2's marketing and their portrayal of the Soviet are completely at-odds with each other. The marketing was a favourable portrayal of the Soviets, which also drew in a large Eastern audience, which then felt betrayed when they played the campaign which is unfortunately seems to be a Cold War era NATO interpretation of the Eastern Front. Not to mention the Great Red Army is protrayed as being staffed mostly of Conscripts and Penals, with a handful of Guards or Assault troops on the side.
Reliс even took real historical dates and did everything wrong:
October 3, 1941, Mtsensk mission. The conscripts are defended Mtsensk, then we get a bit of the Guard and the T-34 counterattack.
But on October 3, 1941, to protect Mtsensk, 6,000 soldiers with cannons, mortars and 4 T-37s of the 10th and 201st airborne brigade were transferred by air. Part of the airborne troops landed under fire anti-aircraft guns and artillery. Together with the 4th Tank Brigade, they stopped the German offensive.
The Airborne Forces of 1941 were excellent-trained and armed soldiers, they were fully armed with self-loading rifles, machine guns and submachine guns.
After Mtsensk, it was possible to make a mission in which you play as the best tank ace of the Anti-Hitler Coalition who served from the start with the 4th Tank Brigade and took part in the Mtsensk battle, after the battles with this brigade the Germans wrote in their reports about the superiority of the T-34.
4SVT cons should outperform 7 man cons in cover at all ranges now.
I find the SVT-40 drop a lot better than the 7th person. I feel that this is the better damage, without the need for find cover. SVT-40 comes in at 2 CP, while the worse 7 people at 10-15 minutes.
