For me, the Cold War is very acceptable, I really love World in Conflict. This is much better than doing СoH3 with same British and US for the third time, for the sake of the new Italians. If it were to make Italy, then the ray would have been a grandiose comeback for CoH2, third Axis fraction.

First of all, general concept of soviets isn't attack, where did you get this idea?
Second, Mobile doesn't mean offensive and static doesn't mean defensive. Assault grenadiers is a high mobile unit and it have great defensive power, it can defend your MGs and mortars of being flanked or rushed very effective, would you better rush vs an MG + Grenadier or a MG + Assault grenadier? Same goes with the fact that Guards are static, but very offensive, Mortars are static, but an ofensive tool.
Conscripts have no synergy with cover? What did you mean by that? unique heavy sandbags/triwire mines/molotovs/merge/PTRS, ourah is a good ability to get in cover faster before model drops, it isn't an assault ability since while being at oorah they can't fire.
From the very beginning, the Soviets were designed as an attack faction: attacking Maxim with a narrow shooting cone and fast speed (deployment speed and running with the 1st veteranism). Lack of fortifications, every time when the topic of Soviet fortifications appeared, there was always one and the same answer: Soviet - the attacking faction they do not need fortifications. |
These 7-man squad and increased damage in cover does not correspond to the general concept of the Soviets - the attack.
For Osttruppen this bonus is appropriate - because the Wehrmacht a defense faction: Osttruppen can build trenches that protect better than sandbags, plus a reinforcement and healing bunker, plus one of the best machine guns.
For Britain, this bonus is appropriate - it is a defense faction.
But not for the Soviets, conscripts with such a bonus have no synergy: Maxim has poor suppression, no machine gun nest, no defensive structures.
Soviets - attack, but in the attack 7 people with a defensive bonus are bad: several units interfere with each other in their cover. |
I think 6 Guard mosins (without other bonuses) should be added as alternative upgrade in commander mod, at very least it's worth testing it to see how it performs compared to 7 man/cover bonuses/mp decrease/shared vet.
I agree, need an alternative upgrade with 6-man and a weapon upgrade in the next version of the mod. |
Not necessarily that it would be the Guard Mosin rifle. This may be the new high-quality Mosin rifle, which have characteristics between the Conscript Mosin and the Guard Mosin. |
I think the idea of a bigger/cheaper conscript squad is much more unique and thematically fitting than weapon upgrades. It also makes merge better. Overall, I love the concept (and it's reminiscent of something I've posted before!)
The cover bonus might be too much, though. Halve it, maybe? And is it too good with Hit the Dirt?
I'm pretty sure that the sergeant model has some issues. Winter version is broken, I think? Also lacks LoDs. I tried using it in a mod and it wasn't great. Guard with no cape is nice, though.
I was always amused by the bigger/cheaper thematically suited. What is themed here? The number of soldiers, weapons (only the first year the recruits received more SVT-40, then the production of SVT was reduced to produce a cheaper and faster Mosin) and equipment in the pre-war division and in the mobilized squad should be the same. All this is a conscript theme - it's just a justification of ridiculous changes, instead of the normal direct buff.
All army of the Second World War were a conscript army, just for some reason the USSR has ridiculous concept: instead of historical strelki (rifle squad) - conscripts, the second main infantry (unnecessary) at the start of the game - penal troops, which were 1% of the entire army. |
A single dp. I would have to just quit playing because I don't think I could stand how exciting that would be. Could you imagine? You deal with this shitty squad all game then BAM. It happens. You have finally reached nirvana. You, the luck bastard get to arm what some people call the worst squad in the game (debatable) with the dp28! The WORST machine gun in the game. So garbage that a the new commander gives 3 for 100mu vs the usual 60-70 for one!
Stalin shares a rare smile knowing his incredible 5 year plan has lead to this moment:conscripts combine shitty stats with a shitty weapon resulting in literally nobody even bothering because that single weapon slot is more valuable picking up literally any other weapon in the entire game including a single PTRS because the dp28 is so awful.
The west is terrified and in awe at the paltry firepower knowing that if the Soviets are willing to waste a squad and munitions on this God awful combination imagine how much they are floating! But more importantly if THIS is the best that their minds can come up with arming their core infantry, it must mean that anyone with an IQ exceeding that of a 5 year old must be set onto some sort of much higher and more important tasks.
A single DP28. yep. THATS what will fix cons. THAT'S what I want to spend munitions on. THATS what I want to spend my 1 weapon slot on.
And so I still say that the Airborne should receive two buffs DP-27, instead of continuing to ignore that this is the worst machine gun, make it 45 ammunition and similar to Bren. This is ridiculous the DP-27 is a good machine gun at the level of Bren, but he is worse than the BAR which is an automatic rifle. |
Well, I could solve all faction balance problems in 1 swing - just remove all factions but 1 so everyone would be able to play only mirror matches. Absolute balance for everyone! How interesting would it be for you to play such game?
This idea is not new, it was still in the first year of the game, when the Wehrmacht raped the Soviets.
And what's the difference in the DP-27 which can only shoot without movement and increase damage in the cover without movement. The difference in visibility and DP-27 can work without cover. |
It would be too lazy.
We do not need light the way, we need a complex and non-obvious ponzi schem to improve performance, instead of a direct buff. |
Defence will be sufficient here, in late game cover is literally everywhere anyway, so its not an issue and for offence you'll just pick PPSH or penals.
It is, this late game. In which at every step - tanks, artillery, rocket artillery, Brummbar. Staying motionless to be effective will be very difficult, so this eliminates the whole positive effect. |
