It also bothers me too see all these commanders have hardly any old stuff
people complain that that the first commanders had nothing new, just new combinations of existing units/abilities. now the commanders have lots of new units/abilities, people still complain. seems like relic loses either way. im really not sure what people want them to do, other than give everything away for free. |
Unless You know something the patchnotes never told us, there is no modifiers added to HMGs when suppressed except the movement decrease. The modifiers don't take place until a squad gets pinned.
The only benefit I can see the maxim having is that it's quick set up might allow it to go into the arc and start firing before the mg42 finishes turning to fire back.
all infantry recieve modifiers when theyre suppressed. that includes mg teams. suppressed infantry have -2 posture speed, 4x the cooldown, 4x the reload, and 1/4 of the accuracy. thats why the time it takes to suppress and pin goes up when an mg get suppressed. |
But if we take all DLC into consideration you are right, it's more expensive. I just left singleplayer content and comsetics out of my equation because that's not important for competitive play.
That leaves us with 4 commanders which actually brought new content that you had to pay for.
theres also nothing forcing you to buy all the commanders. i have the 4 new commanders and i never use any of them. i always use the free ones. just pick and choose which ones you buy and its really not that expensive. plus, youre still able to win and enjoy the game without the new content. |
If relic were interested to make a fun game they would add more Options by giving the factions more non doctrinal stuff as Standard Units but they decided to make Money, Money , Money by adding every Little shit like tanktraps or the KV-1 as a Special commander unit/ability.And the Problem is there will be 100 commanders for both sides at the end of this commander spam and you can only choose 1 of them per game and not the other 99.
The amount of variety is always low because everything is a commander tank unit and you can only choose 1 commander.
There are also many useless commanders that nobody uses.Did you guys saw anybody uses commanders like the NKVD or Terror doctrine commander?Nobody is using this garbage commanders because they are useless and there are already toooooooooo much commanders. And relic Spams more useless commanders that nobody uses.
people do actually use NKVD. besides, if the commanders are so useless, why are you spamming every thread complaining about p2w? if theyre useless, you arent missing anything by not buying them.
also, you claim adding more doctrinal units doesnt add variety but more non doctrinal units would. thats not true. theres already more non doctrinal units than you can build in a single game. even as german, if you build every building, youll never build every single unit. adding 100 more non doctrinal units would mean you use an even smaller percentage of units. you would be forced to pick units that fit your build, which is essentially what commanders do. so just because you cant use all the commanders at once doesnt mean theres less variety.
commanders just restrict players by not allowing every single possible combination of units and abilities. this is honestly a good thing, because some combos would be too good. |
The only time a maxim can beat an mg42 is when the mg is already firing at something else first. Otherwise the mg42 should win due to its faster pinning.
the mg42 pins between .7-1 second faster. however, the maxim suppresses .6-1.4 seconds faster. the mg42 will be suppressed first, which then slows its rate of pinning the maxim by a large amount. i dont feel like doing the math, but im fairly certain that maxim will pin faster.
the courier is right though, the maxim cant walk into the mg42s arc to kill and suppress it like it used to. if they start firing at the same time, maxim wins. |
I daresay at 4CP it comes way later than T3 in most games, or even T4.
even if 4cps was early enough, i think its a bad idea. for 125, you can practically build t3 and a p4. it will also delay your t4 by a lot, since its 5 fuel short of the cost of a panther. on its own, a command tank is not worth the cost. its only worth it when it has a large numbers of units (especially vehicles) to provide the buff for. |
I haven't had the chance to use it much, but it seemed fairly unimpressive the last time I did. It doesn't dismantle infantry like the original P4 IST did, and I didn't notice the defensive aura really swinging any battles moreso than an additional Ostwind would have.
the reduced damage modifier is actually really strong. for example, an su85 normally kills a p4 in 4 shots. with the modifier, it will take 5, which means each tank will live atleast a 4.25 seconds longer. it really starts adding up when you have a lot of tanks. it also stacks with vet, so a tank will take .36 recieved damage at vet 2. that makes a p4 take 12 shots from an su85. |
Besides the bonuses, it's supposed to be the AI version of the KV-8 for the Ostheer
what gave you that idea? they really have nothing in common. i guess they both suck against tanks, but that doesnt make them counterparts. the purpose of the command tank is to provide the defensive bonus. its gun is a bit lacking, but i dont think it needs a buff since its job really is to be sitting safely in the back as support. |
the range of elo the queue will match you with increases over time. to avoid that, you can leave the queue every so often and start it again. that would keep your games in a smaller range around your elo. |
unfortunately, this is a really common strategy for soviets now. like gunshy said, your best bet early on is some mortars. this is countered by the soviet mortars precision strike though, so be sure to move them after each barrage. if you can hold on long enough, panzerwerfers absolutely destroy weapon team spam. |
