Changing a new Company of Heroes game from a WW2 setting to anything else would be an unrecoverable mistake.
I love the coh series and the ww2 setting, but I would still play the crap out of a new coh with a more modern setting |
I would prefer to leave the case-shot at 50 meters, but to make it use ammunition, it will not make it excessively strong but leave it unique and useful.
I like this idea on the surface too, but it seems like it could be a huge liability if you couldn’t cancel it. Maybe small muni cost for short duration activation? |
Hey guys, haven’t posted here in awhile, but I’ve been following this thread with great interest. Thematically, I really like the addition of another man to conscript squads but I have a couple of suggestions. First of all, adding another Mosin toting conscript to con squads as a late game, muni based upgrade, is aesthetically a bit boring. Usually hitting that muni upgrade button results in a shiny new weapon for your squad and so to spice it up a bit, I would suggest making the 7th model an officer (NCO or commissar) carrying either a ppsh or possibly an svt. You could look to the American LT for inspiration as that unit provides flare vs yet another rifle squad, but also doesn’t provide anything too drastically different damage profile wise without the zook upgrade.
Second of all, I see that you’re contemplating adding a cover bonus if the extra man isn’t enough, and might I instead suggest that the upgrade provides cons with a variation of the penal battalion’s To The Last Man ability which buffs the squad as they take losses. This would allow cons to maintain their mobility and not be tied to cover. It would also allow cons to maintain more of their dps in late game as the damage on the whole starts to ramp up. In my opinion, part of why cons feel so bad in the late game, is that with no weapon upgrades, each model lost impacts their dps output more drastically. A variation of To The Last Man would help mitigate that without having to worry about drastically changing their alpha strike or blobbing potential if given true weapon upgrades.
Anyway, good luck! This balancing process is fun to watch. |
This is a great idea. While I think repair speed could just be added to the vanilla factions sweeper instead of relying on vet, there is definitely something to be said for the fun factor in gaining exp. it's satisfying to see those exp flowers bloom. |
Thank you for this story |
You must be new here. Soviet Industry (the ability) was stupid after the tier changes, and arguably before that. The problem was the extremely high fuel income, which could not be spent, completely devastated MP income.
Allied supply drop is more interesting, fairer, and gives the other player a heads up.
The issue of OKW native AA has been discussed at length, many forum members are in favor of completely removing it.
TL DR: Love the new changes to Allied supply drop, OKW being able to shoot down planes for free is stupid.
They really should just replace the base flak guns with mg bunkers. I've never understood why okw gets these in the first place. Flavor? Out of all of the factions, okw has the most accessible early AT so its not like they even need them. As it is, the base flak guns mess with allied air for free, allied light vehicle base rushes for free and can be sniped for hilarious/frustrating results. All in all they're just a pointless balance headache. |
Reminds me a little of the old Dune rts |
I haven't been playing much coh lately but I jumped on with a friend to try out some of the changes. Brits feel bad right now for a lot of reasons but one thing in particular made me laugh. Late-ish game I managed to get an infantry section with the arty upgrade close enough to an okw schwere flak hq using a distraction to drop the flares; thing only had a sliver of hp left and yet, with both base howitzers firing, the arty managed to do zero damage. None. Are the base howitzers bugged or are they still just THAT bad? |
No offense to those that play and enjoy the mode but I can't stand watching 4v4 games. Way too spammy for my tastes. So, no. I should add though, good luck in making this happen. Anything that promotes the game is good imo. |
I don't want to see massive arty spam every Brit game, but currently throwing a grenade is a more threatening option than upgrading an infantry section and calling in the base howies. They are just God aweful and with the Sexton being a flaming pile of poo, this commander is one of the worst atm. Best part about it is the vision. |
