I think to balance those traps a slight delay (like 3 seconds) is needed and a "klick" noise, like in the original Coh. It´s simply impossible to avoid them. The only counter is a mine detecting pioneer, but if only that squad is allowed to cap, you´ve got a huge disadvantage.
Let´s face it: A Russian player can easily float some munitions. With a cache it is possible to spam them.

Hi there,
I´m experiencing serious problems with the Elefant every round. The times it has cost me the game are way more than those times it actually proofed useful. I´m by far no noob and know how to use it: A long range, rather immobile, second line, tank-sniper that has to be supported. Yet, even when using it this way it has seldom payed off. Usually it ends up - even after intense fighting - with a low kill count of which most are lucky infantry snipes.
The problems I see with it is that a lot of drawbacks are combined with this unit and outweight the pros of the unit.
Pros:
- Long gun range
- Long view range
- Good frontal armor
- Large amount of health
- Deals huge damage with a hit
Cons:
- Doctrinal
- Slow reload time (8.55sec), almost as slow as the ISU-152 (10sec)!
- Bad mobility:
-->Very slow speed
--> Very slow turning speed (slowest in the game)
--> Bad acceleration
--> When AT-naded, mined, rammed it is effectively immobilized
- Bad accuracy on long range
- Lowest AOE for the shells in the game (which lets it suck versus infantry)
- Very high cost, popcap and upkeep (640mp, 260 fuel)
The problem I see is that it´s so easily avoided. It can sit at one spot and try to snipe some vehicle. After that any competent player will jsut avoid this spot and focus on the other 2/3rd of the map. Getting the Elefant there is a huge gamble.
Even when sitting in its spot supported by a lot of units, it doesn´t do it´s job. A lot of the shots miss and infantry is immune to it. I would prefer an occasional snipe like with the SU-85 but right now you can totally ignore it and walk up to it. I know it´s not supposed to counter infantry but what we have now is a bit over the top.
Added to that the reload on the 88mm is ridiculous. Why does it take so long? The gun isn´t a howitzer. By the time the Elefant is ready for the next shot - and if that has even hit - the enemy has driven away his vehicle.
The worst thing is it´s mobility. It shouldn´t be very mobile, i know. But it will get engine damaged. And then it´s immobile, because that can´t be called movement if it manages to drive 1 meter every 5 seconds. It is so immobile anyways that two T-34s can just drive up to it and kill it. Of course I support the Elefant but at this cost there´s usually not more available than one Pak and some Grens with Fausts.
I really think the Elefant needs at least a buff to its reload speed and accuracy if it stays this slow and cumbersome.

If they get rid of the dopey 2 tank call-ins and make the t34/85 either an upgrade, buildable unit, or able to be called in individually I dont think giving the soviets an equivalent to a p4 is good for the meta.
That probably won´t happen. I remember the developers mentioning in their stream regarding the previous patch (the one that nerfed MG42s and buffed IS-2s) that they did not intend to make T-34/85s non doctrinal or purchasable as a single unit. |
Anybody tried the new bulletin "10% more experience gained" for the MG42? It´s awesome! The MG42 just shoots so much anyway that the received vet bulletin has an insane effect on MGs and so I had two vet 3 MGs in the last game. Within the 5 minute mark both were vet 1 and I could spam the incendiary ammunition.
However I totally lost track what bulletin is the best. There´s just so much like "more fire", "less cooldown time between shots", "slower reload time", "better accuracy". I don´t know what´s best. - However the vet buff is significant on the 42. Try it! |
The Scout car was fine at 25 fuel. I hope this is a bug.
To pay itself off manpower-wise it has to only kill 4 conscripts (4x20MP). If it finishes off a squad or sniper it has already payed itself. Assuming a fuel point is worth 3 manpower points, you would need to kill 4 conscripts more to make it pay off, requiring a total of 8 conscript kills. My average scout car has somewhere around 10+ kills. So usually the 221/222 pays off. |
T34 is flowery,LoL?
There goes the freedom of speech ))
Freedom of speech is granted by every democratic nation. Thus you don´t have to fear that the feds lock you up for stating an opinion. This forum however is a private place. Theoretically the guys in charge could demand from you to write a laudatory speech to the all mighty Cthulhu every Sunday and kick you out if you didn´t comply. |
meanwhile German players only use left click or right click to counter any tactics, is this you want to say?
That statement could be true if there wasn´t the all mighty 60 range SU-85 that eats any armor in a frontal assault. German players have to flank and micro their tanks too.
It´s just silly to think that the T-34 should get away without being microed. If you don´t micro and park them in front of a Panzer IV they will and should lose. If even one T-34 drives to the Panzer IV´s side you can kill the Panzer IV without even losing one T-34. If you are to lazy to do that, try "mark target" which breaks the law of physics and enables T-34s to deal with the P4 frontally.
Is that so much asked from the Russian player? |
Why should a T-34 be able to go head on with German tanks? It has a short cannon and kills infantry way faster. It´s also quite cheap and spammable at 280mp, 85 fuel. If you use one T-34 to combat a German tank, you are doing it wrong.
Russians imho dominate the infantry combat with huge blobs. Why can´t Germans have their better tanks?
A flanking T-34 is actually quite a good feature gameplay wise (forcing tactics instead of left click, right click) and one of the few things that´s actually realistic in this game (yeah, I did use the evil word "realism"). |
It's called "Pay 2 Win."
Dito.
The new commanders you get for free are average. The really good ones cost you money.
I payed 50 € for this game and I´m put at a disadvantage, because someone else payed more. If the basic game was for free I could understand that attitude, but right now I feel a bit fooled. |
I like the range increase of the "hull down" ability. So with 25% range increase a Panther will go from 50m range to 62.5m range and outrange the SU-85 which also doesn´t have it´s bulletin any longer that would have increased the range to 66m. That´s definately going to be interesting. Hulled down Panthers have more range than Su-85s. Time for payback!
Hull down your Panthers guys! |
