Thread: Infantry bulletin chaos5 Oct 2013, 23:08 PM Hi there, at the moment I´m not sure how to get the maximum out of my infantry with bulletins. I don´t know what bulletin is best and what´s worst. The bulletins for standard infantry are: - "Bronze": 3% increased accuracy - "Silver": 3% decreased reload time - "Gold": 2% decreased cooldown time, 2% decreased reload time - "Grenadier": 5% decreased cooldown time - "Conscript": 5% decreased reload time So now I´m confused. Someone here said that the "bronze" accuracy multiplier was the best as it directly increased dps. But then again that bulletin comes earlier and I somewhat expected the "gold" one to be better. Also the percentages differ, so I don´t know whether 3% decreased reload time aren´t better than 5% decreased cooldown time. I would be grateful if someone could make a ranking for me what´s best and what´s worse. I´m not quite sure how this is also affected by the use of LMGs and PPSHs, would be nice to explain what´s best for regular unupgraded troops and how much upgraded troops profit from that. Cheers. The 1943 IS2 has a frontal lower glacis of 60mm at 72* from vertical, (effective 194mm), front upper hull at 120mm at 30* (effective 138mm) and a mantlet of 100mm at 0* (vertical). The IS2 has had historically poor turret protection, but superb hull, leading to most losses due to turret penetration or turret jamming at the turret ring. The Panther Ausf. G has 80mm at 55* from vertical (effective 139mm), and a turret mantlet of 100mm at 12* (effective 102mm). The IS-2 (1943) is armed with a 122mm D-25T L/43 gun, which with APCBC rounds can penetrate 204mm at 0* at 1000m, or 130mm at 30* at 1000m. The Panther Ausf. G is armed with a 7.5cm KwK42 L/70, which with APCBC can penetrate 149mm at 0* at 1000m, 111mm at 30* at 1000m, or with APCR rounds, penetrate 170 at 0* at 1000m and 149mm at 30* at 1000m. The latter were often in short supply, so it's safe to assume the Panthers are(were) firing APCBC. Settling the quality of steel aside and assuming homogeneous plates, projectile deflections or partial deflections, and disregarding battle conditions such as optics, ambush, visibility, or accuracy, what does this mean? - The IS-2 can penetrate the Panther's turret at distances over 1000m, but not the front glacis plate (the hull). - The Panther Ausf. G, with APCBC ammunition, can penetrate the IS-2's turret and upper hull at distances over 1000m, but not the lower glacis plate. - Both of you are fucking retarded for arguing off-topic for three pages. This is actually right. Also look at the picture about the IS-2Ms turret I posted on the last side. The IS-2s turret was penetrated easily. The hull on the modernized version was not. Please notice the M on the description (upper right corner). Although IS-2M is a wrong description and describes the post war IS-2 from the 1950ies. IS-2 (model 1944) was the one used in the war, it´s often falsely described as IS-2M. I was never talking about the hull. Yet the turret doesn´t seem to offer the protection to deflect 75mm/L70 shots on long range thus not really making the IS-2 a hard nut to crack for Panthers etc. So what now? I must be a fanboy actually preferring those sources over some statements of UGBEAR. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Why not Jagdpanther?4 Oct 2013, 17:16 PM And another thing: These IS-2's were knocked out at a distance of over 1,500 meters in a head on engagement with Tiger Ausf.E's on the Eastern front in late August 1944 (Note the glacis is penetrated right above drivers visor). Actually Soviet tanks hroughout the war faced the same problem Germans were facing late in the war. The steel wasn´t the finest quality and got brittle. Could explain what you are obviously seeing on this picture. In: COH2 Gameplay

He even refused to believe Panzer IV (H) and StuG (G) could defeat the T-34/76 on longer ranges than the T-34/76 could do. He actually reminds me of this epic thread starter, years ago. Tiger Gun Penetration : 155mm. IS-2 Gun Penetration : 147mm. ISU-152 Gun Penetration : 124mm. SU-100 Gun Penetration : 167mm. Jagdpanther / King Tiger / Elephant Gun Penetration : 217mm. Panzer IV Gun Penetration : 108mm. T-34 Gun Penetration : 64mm. T-34/85 Gun Penetration : 107mm. Don´t even try it. I already showed UGBEAR another source that the Panther could defeat IS-2s frontally on about 1km. He even asked for that source but then seems to ignore it anyways. Maybe it doesn´t fit his image of Russian super tanks. As for the 40:1 statement. You are comparing a medium tank with a Heavy tank. Of course the numbers are different there. Better compare the 50k T-34s to the 5,7k Panzer IIIs, 10k StuGs, 6k Panthers, 9k Panzer IVs rather than 1350 Tiger I. A proper comparison would be IS-2 versus Tiger I , which is roughly 3:1. A direct comparison is hard anyways as Russians mostly relied on the T-34 as their main tank while Germans had more different types as their "main" armor. Still a huge numerical advantage for soviets but not 40:1. As for the uselessness of the statement: I´m sorry you can´t see a scheme in the game. It´s not that hard. Last but not least: Why are you talking about an IS-2M, UGBEAR? Someone with your knowledge about tanks should know that it was in fact a version of the IS-2s deployed in the 1950ies. Considering the meta these days in team matches, I'm always looking for something to curtail the inevitable Tiger spam. Funny, because the current Su-85 pretty much performs like a SU-100. Going through Panthers frontal armor, out-ranging German guns... hell, considering the quality in optics even the SU-100 couldn´t do the latter. This performance sounds not like the historical SU-85 to me but rather a SU-100. At vet 2 the SU-85 in Coh2 two shots StuGs. Two shot killing armored units: That´s something only the Elefant can do also. Just change the skin and name it SU-100. In: COH2 Gameplay

Well, just for you then: Experience with Coh2 has shown that most heavier tanks are nerfed compared to their real performance to balance them. Panthers in Coh2 for example are often penetrated frontally by 85mm guns etc. I´d prefer something lighter added to the game, which is more balanced by nature, like Hetzer and Jagdpanzer IV. Then I wouldn´t facepalm as hard if their shots bounce from KV-8s or if they die to Su-85s (although even Hetzer and Jagdpanzer IV still had sufficient frontal armor ). In: COH2 Gameplay

SU-100 was more the equivalent of a Jagdpanzer IV performance wise. If it´s supposed to be balanced, I´d prefer a Jagdpanzer IV over a ridiculously nerfed Jagdpanther (compared to reality).
