Like oorah?
It's probably the same as the soviet sniper and maxim vet ability. |

Rapid conscription? Vehicle detection?
tripwire flair! |
It really isn't worth the cost. Especially considering a recon run is bigger, can be called in anywhere, and lasts far longer for only 20 more munitions.
I know it's not really the best to compare these two abilities considering ones doctrinal and ones a unit abiility, but the fact that it is never used is telling. |
This entire doctrine was created for heavy capping. Three cons squads with ppsh/ molotovs and irregulars with LMG and nades will shred any infantry (and in any quantity) in pieces. You can have T-34's following your cons for great support. T34 get damaged - no problem, your cons can repair it in no time while irregulars will cover them. Shall you face heavy defences - not a problem as well, your howitzer will clear a path for your troops with a single barrage.
But this works only if you get your hands on both fuel points from the start. If you can't keep the fuel and the enemy starts sweeping the floor with panthers, combo 3 cons ppsh plus at nade with guards dp28 plus button will work a lot better.
I've tried this doctrine three times and it looks like its fun to use it only if you own the fuel. Also I noticed that the first irregular squad always comes with German LMG which is really handy in early game. Or maybe I just got lucky.
Anyway, because of the reason that German players tend to throw tons of armor on the field, the doctrine where you get guards and cons with ppsh is much safer to choose.
I think the doctrine is pretty good. Irregulars are a good alternative to conscripts that sacrifice durability for better offensive power. The only problem is that rapid conscription doesn't work for them, so it basically punishes you for using them. They really need to fix that, as I can't possibly believe that it was intended. |
There was a sprint ability on one of the leaked commanders. So it seems like relic already has something similar in the works.
The ability as it is can be very potent when used in an offensive and is pretty cheap considering. Any cheaper and it would be far too spammable. |
I asked Peter about this on Steam earlier and he said there are 'some complexities' but didn't rule it out.
Of the CE commanders, this is the only change I'd make, though. It's not about reshuffling the abilities for my own liking, it's just about making these two unique as they share the highest number of abilities of any two commanders. It also has the added bonus of giving the Soviets another commander with an IS-2 in, so it's a bit more equal with the Tiger.
I'll try and get an answer from someone in the know.
In my opinion, these two aren't the only old doctrines that could use some shuffling. I really wish relic would go though some of the lesser used doctrines and change them now that we know more about the meta. |
The real question is whether relic would be willing to change some of the commanders at all. There hasn't been a switch in commander abilities since the beginning of the beta, and that was only because they switched the elephant to a doctrinal unit. |
i agree with most of your points, but speed of a medium tank? i don't have numbers, but for me it feels like the slowest unit in game ^^
Not the slowest. I believe it's still faster then an elephant and isu, but it is a little bit slower then a regular tiger. |
Weird how no one has mentioned that this gun can shoot through freaking walls. You can build it behind a building and still shoot right through it.
It's a really strong element that I really don't see people use effectively enough. |

The reason I stated that combination of units, is because they come in the doctrine with the ISU, which is the unit we are discussing.
Someone tried to say the ISU sucks Vs the Tiger.. but as someone else pointed out, all these abilities can really help you combat an Elefant with an ISU
True, I was just trying to explain that the elephant is much harder to destroy then the isu, but that's probably a discussion for a different thread. |
