I thought that both Ostwind and AA flak emplacement could be merged in one ability/slot like Heavy Air defences for example, but if this is impossible then yes Ostwind is a better trade.
There's no reason they couldn't be, I don't think. I don't think there's anything limiting how much one commander "slot" can give you. |
Because they nerfed their cheese tools.
Old Oorah for free/5 muni.
Multikilling trip wire flare.
Ghost sandbag spam.
Death crit molotovs.
PPSH + HTD
PTRS killing support weapons.
There had been plenty of chad conscript patches.
I, for one, prefer to fight these current chad conscripts to the variants you're describing. |
If the sniper is no option for USF then I would like to see Rangers in "Rifle Company" and "Cav Rifles" in Heavy Cavalry" instead of the Rangers.
I honestly don't see any reason to dismiss the idea of OKW or USF snipers out of hand, other than a "Faction flavour" argument... though I don't see "Doesn't have a sniper" as a particularly defining piece of "Faction flavour".
I think it's a fine idea, though I'd still argue they oughtta be nondoctrinal. |
Personally I think only Special Operations and possibly Firestorm really needs changes. Most of the commanders in OKW have some use in one gamemode or another and most have several unique abilities.
For Firestorm I think work mostly should be done to the Mp40 Volks. I would prefer to see them get some help whatever that ends up being. Maybe it could give more Mp40s and turn the volks into a full on CQC squad?
Special Operations is the one that needs the most work imo.
Radio Silence should probably just get a complete rework to it. Something like it wouldn't of block the tactical map, and instead friendly units are harder to detect (imagine something like the Luchs cautious movement). Adjust cost/cooldown as needed.
Then for Artillery Flares I would personally prefer those become an ability on either the Command Panther or tanks in general. Limit their range so their is a greater risk when trying to get sight on an artillery piece really far behind enemy lines.
How are you going to give Volks more than five MP40s? They only have five men in a squad!
The MP40 upgrade in Feuersturm already gives ever member of the squad MP40s, and turns it into a "proper" CQC squad. It's a really nice upgrade, in a really nice commander. As Smartie has suggested, giving it some sort of AT solution would be nice... though I don't think giving Sturms a HEAT grenade would be meaningful. I'm not sure what else to give the commander, however. |
Nice work, good to kick-off this discussion
A goal could be: we do not need Commander Terminator in Master League anymore, as all commanders are useful.
Expecting all commanders to be equally viable in 1v1 is unlikely to come to pass. There are some things that are just more useful than others. |
I'd personally argue that either OKW and USF should just get a sniper as standard, like every other faction, or all other factions should (Ideally) have their snipers replaced with Light Infantry, the sorts that OKW and USF get from doctrines.
Models that could approximate snipers exist. (Ranger, Pathfinder, Paratrooper, The Ostheer sniper, etc) I'm sure there are unused infantry models in the files that wouldn't be confusing with other units, as well.
I don't like that snipers are so easily countered with other snipers, but WITHOUT a sniper, and if your opponent is really on the ball with his micro, sniperless factions have a very tough time dealing with an opposing sharfshutze.
Light Infantry fit the general gameplay loop of CoH2 much better than dedicated "snipers" do, in any case. |
Assault grens can build bunkers.
Yeah, people were complaining about it the other day in a thread. |
It's ridiculous strong in team games
I really dont know why okw still have it without commander.
Just replace it with mortar halftruck already..
Just watch last "Elite" 4v4 tightrope cast
A mortar HT isnt comparable to rocket artillery. |
Stuka zu fuss nerf when
Does it need a nerf? If so: Why? |
That is the 20mm flak, the OKW truck has a 37mm iirc (same as the ostwind).
Removing the vet on the bofor in trade for lower pop cap and maybe a smaller object/target?
The "Size" of the flak gun is immaterial, they're functionally similar units, both being 360 degree, immobile suppression/AI platforms (With light AT ability). The Bofors is certainly better, but for what they are I think the Flak bases are as good a comparison as the Flaktruck. |
