Grenadiers are really fucking good, and with the newly buffed G43 they will be good anywhere
They are good but far from "the best". |
grens are the strongest infantry in the game besides if used properly (depends on map, grens are god tier on Amily fields but garbage on kholodny)
Really ? |
I've got to say, I've never felt more justified in my life on the topic of G43 Grens watching them be so prevalent and effective yesterday at the top level of play.
+1 as with the amount of ZiS barrages used that completely baffled me.
EDIT: Also it was almost exclusively Isildur using the G43 grens with his infamous Lightning War. |
You seem to be confused
If the map fits it, Mp40 volks are much better than stg volks in late game. Their smoke and grenade alone makes them much better, and when they are vetted their extra RA bonus makes them an actually durable mainline. Not only that but mp40s scale better. The problem is not that mp40s aren't good or stg44 are too good, the problem is that OKW isn't coh Wehrmacht and doesn't have Grenadiers with double mg42 right after volks.
Also what you proposed is for stg44 to have even a bigger powerspike by removing the muni dump
Aren't Obersoldaten literally beefed up Grenadiers ? |
Base Arty is a lot of fun and with Anvil its a LOT of shells even if they don't do very much and can't be used vs MGs anymore.
Agreed.
Engi snares is a great concept, even if engies kinda suck too much. Good Allied tanks feels really nice, even if overly pop intensive.
Kind of agreed.
They still have the second best engineer in the game and they are debatable best late game with anvil. Also, I'm perfectly fine with Comet, its phosphorus shells etc but not the ultimate gimmick tank that is Churchill.
The emplacements feel fantastic, even if easily hard countered. The AO is a GREAT concept, a unique officer with unique stuff, even if undertuned.
.
The emplacements are a horrible concept will remain that way for any strategy game. Also, assault officer is definitely not "undertuned".
For the arty, I agree.
EDIT: Realised that we are derailing the thread so maybe we speak about those later on some different thread about UKF. |
I think UKF play rates in general are bolstered because they are actually a LOT of fun to play.
I disagree with this. The faction is just incomplete and still to this day broken (I do NOT mean OP by that). I neither have fun getting slaughtered by Infantry Sections early game nor when getting my Infantry Sections get absolutely laughed at by a 222 or Luchs. The faction relies on weird gimmicky units like UC, Churchill, Infantry Sections to be alive just because they are not given enough tools to do actual fun and expectable stuff.
That's why, as long as UKF doesn't get a complete overhaul -for me at least- it will remain not liked either if I am playing it or facing it. |
Sometimes I wonder how different factions from different game versions would fare against each other. For example, it'd be cool to be able to play UKF as when it was on its release against the most recent versions of OST and OKW just to see how all the balancing attempts have done over time.
Heck, I'd love to (re) play a 2on2 with only SOV/OST using the version of the game right before WFA came out just to see and remember how balance was back then.
Days of the Grenadier and Penal terminators. Sometimes I miss them. |
Axis boys did the same to the demo. And okw got a mobile and stealthy one in return.
Demos were and still are (not op just hitboxes being incredibly hard to click) retarded.
Edit : As with goliath. |
The problem with Obers vs USF is the removal of efficient, effective blob control. The Scott and Pack Howi nerfs mean Obers no longer consistently die, so their 40 mp cost is irrelevant. Calliope spam and HE Shermans are the only shock blob control, MGs die to elite inf blobs before suppress.
You haven't seen the devils work for 4v4 USF that is .50 cal. spam. |
Besides further homogenisation of factions that a lot of people already complain about;
Everything major that gets changed will have ripple effects. When RE got snares and it was finally no longer possible to park light vehicles on top of UKF infantry without consequence, the faction turned OP almost overnight and needed some significant nerfs in other areas to compensate. For example, if you'd add a snare to Infantry Sections, the AEC would become significantly less mandatory, and that would very likely in turn significantly speed up their tank timing. They have the cheapest tank tech of any faction, this is balanced only by requiring to get some side techs along the way. So yes, big changes like adding snares to a mainline or adding stock rocket arty would definitely require more reworks and rebalancing down the line. It's never simple.
Basically everyone would like some homogenisation on UKF though rather than them clutching on weird things for compensation of lacking core features. What I mean by that is, for example the Infantry Sections getting some of their raw DPS getting removed for getting a snare or Vickers getting some more suppression with reduced damage in return for Universal Carrier (aka. Lame Car) not being able to survive 2 panzerfausts and so on.
TLDR: UKF relies on gimmicky and annoying things since they lack core features and are horribly designed and everyone would like to see it get changed. |
