They were meta prior to osttruppen and VSL and contrary to the 2 latter, they weren't nerfed in any way. They were meta probably because the meta in that time was Heavy Tanks and Lightning War was just too strong in that meta. It was probably not the PGrens that created that meta but it was rather a side product of Lightning war having both G43, a global sprint for 40seconds (which made chasing much easier), skillplanes AND a Tiger. Thread: Commander Update Beta 2021 - Ostheer Feedback21 Apr 2021, 22:06 PM Jump back to quoted post21 Apr 2021, 21:49 PMMr. Someguy People have suggested in the past that they should get a Jaeger Light Infantry Recon G43 DMR which would change their role a bit, but I'm not sure how good that would be paired with 3 Assault Rifles. It might be too strong because it can snipe models that were chipped away by the assault rifles, or it might be too weak because the assault rifles don't deal enough damage at long range and eliminate models faster than the marksman's rifle at close range. Maybe replace the current grenadier one with the PGren one and give the DMR G43 (only one) to grenadiers themselves at 60 Munitions. So we have, 3 G43 Rifles Pgrens with additional 10% RA for their loss in close range DPS. Basically upgrade makes your PGs more durable in return for the lost close range DPS. And, 1 G43 DMR Grenadiers, basically locking out the LMG42 and makes them a support squad rather than a standalone squad. Just like JLI but with a later timing. (Maybe even reduce the Gren G43 Snipe treshold to 60% between JLI 75 and Pathfinder 50). EDIT : I feel like I'm gonna receive a lot of hate for this suggestion. And maybe this achieves to actually make sense having the same looking upgrade on different squads but still reinforcing each of their roles as close range assault squad and long range support infantry. Obviously JT is a big part of that, but fusiliers are too. The early game weakness is much easier to overcome when you have teammates Dude I'll fully admit I never use them in 1v1. Seems like a bad idea. But there are a lot of things in the game you can't use 1v1 that are totally viable in team games You can even get away with x4 Kubels in team games, so from a game balance stand point PFusiliers being that horrid in 1v1s is not a good thing in my opinion. The unit is only useful when you are up against a Brit with UC and really nothing else especially on maps with a lot of red cover and no cover at all. Edit : It can also be argued how much more utility does the Pfusiliers bring in compared to already VERY versatile Volksgrenadier. In: COH2 Balance

And you are dismissing the fact that Panzerfusiliers are utter thrash early game. Seriously what is wrong with allowing OKW infantry to be able to collect enemy equipment if they drop any ? Same question goes for the Volksgrenadier. The fact that OKW mainlines can NOT pick up dropped weapons forces you to pick them up with something like Sturmpioneers or Obersoldaten. In: COH2 Balance

It only had 1 more CP than the normal Tiger for years. 2 CP difference would be completely unjustified. And it still consistently hits the literal dirt under the SU-85s for some reason. In that way they have to over perform in the things they are good at but have to be kneecapped in order for it to be "fair". If you were to look at USF from back then to now at a basic level USF could always "function". So the end result is both players abuse the things that allows them to win. Such as a 222 or 221(okw) can teabag a british players face for 3-6 minutes until they get an AT gun or an AEC because of their extreme lack of snares. Which is why the faction is broken. They bully the shit out of German factions with their UC and Infantry section early on, and the opposite happens when Germans start hammering the no-snare infantry sections with their LVs. So i would suggest that VSL revert to pre-nerf, but would now require 2 part upgrade: -2 CP, upgrade to VSL, but with 4man squad -BP2 upgraded/T3 built, can bolster VSL to 5man squad, along the lines of late-game cons/AssGrens This IMO is a really cool idea. The timing of the old VSL was causing most of the issues. Something like, > 1G43 + 10% cooldown > Ability to reinforce to 5 men with T4 built can be really interesting while not being bonkers. STG really feels off. Maybe just make the upgrade like Soviet mobilize reserves without any additional weapons with a late CP timing like 3CP and a high cost of 80Muni. In: COH2 Balance

OKW also does have elite STG troops as well as camo squad with full auto weapons, so both parts of that role are taken firmly already. I explicitly put / sign there. They are anti-sniper AND support unit that can barely go toe to toe with allied infantry. They are anti-sniper because they focus fire, hurt and eventually snipe the sniper with their rifle. They are support because they don't give their true value unless there is some other friendly unit hurting their target for them to snipe it (which I find weird considering the units theme was originally infiltration and still is named "Light Infantry"). And IMO it doesn't hurt to give the option to have full automatic ambush squad on another doctrine other than Luftwaffe. In: COH2 Balance
