Oh ok thanks. Bought a new Alienware comp so hope it's not that.
It's not uncommon for memory to be defective from the factory. Mine was new too. |
Problem 1: Penals come out to late.
Proposed solution: Make everything else except grenadiers come later.
I don't get it. That is only encouraging grenadier spam. Is it a problem to make the buildtime for soviet T1 and/or penals shorter? Hell, let penals be build instantly and see what happens.
LMG grens won't be as prevelant once you see penals viable.
I agree with this. A small reduction (say 25%) in Soviet T1 build time and a small reduction in the reinforce cost for Penals, so they remain a viable strategy in longer games. That's a good place to start. |
I had random CTD/BugSplat crashes a long time ago. At first I thought it was a problem with CoH2, but it turns out that was just because it was the only game I was playing at the time. Started to see CTDs in other games so I did some investigating. Turns out I had a bad memory stick. Replaced it and haven't had a problem since. If the other solutions don't work, download and run MemTest86 to check your memory. |
Somewhat unrelated, but something I think would be an excellent enhancement to the replay search feature...
The ability to search replays based on more details...thing like commanders used, winning faction, units built, CPM, etc. For example, how great would it be to be able to search for a replay where the Soviets win using the CounterAttack commander with less than 50 CPM. Okay, that may be a little extreme and too specific, but after seeing all the details that the replay analyzer is able to parse, it seems feasible to be able to index at least some of that information and make it searchable.

Lately, I prefer a stolen Maxim over the MG42 as germans. It packs up, and deploys so quickly (and therfore turns fast in houses). If only I had it with a 6 man crew. Who needs a big arc, when you can be aggresive?
The problem with the Maxim is that a Gren squad coming straight at a set-up Maximcan still get a rifle nade off before it gets pinned, so you're constantly retreating and reinforcing your Maxim squad. I've managed to vet up stolen MG42's to Vet 2 or higher more than I have with my own Maxims. They still have their uses and I still build them, but I think the MG42 is more effective overall. |
Went for a ram in a game the other night and my opponent just happened to be crossing a PGren squad in front of his P4 when I did it. Crushed the entire squad and got the ram. |
This is far from high level play, but it was a really crazy ending. Take note of how close the game came to ending at the 44:10 mark in the Soviet base. |
If you can hold out until T3, your T70 will counter the AssGrens and the Flamer Halftrack or Scout Car. Chances are he won't plan on building PGrens right away out of his T2, so you don't have to worry about shreks until you've already managed to counter everything he has.
Start with 4 Cons and Molotovs. Don't be too aggressive. Keep your cons together and don't get pushed off entirely. If you manage to preserve enough manpower, consider a Fuel OP. Then go T2, but don't build anything out of it yet. You want to get to T3 fast, but you'll need T2 for the Pak. Then T3, T70, Pak, T34s.
As for Commander, I always use GR Combined Arms for any 4 Conscript Build, but anything with PPSh's will do. |
hmm interesting strats. loving it.
Usually if an opponent goes 3-4 assgrens shouldn't that take a while and really hinder his fast tech to FHT?? By the time 2 assgrens come into the field you could probably have 3 almost 4 cons and some decent map control if you avoid him.
Even if it doesn't slow him down, I want him to follow up his Assault Grens with a FHT. As long you don't get pushed entirely off the field (which you should be able to do by keeping your Conscripts together) and can make it to a fast T3, the T-70 will hard-counter everything he has. |
Breaking news: T-34/85s performed worse than Panzer IVs in reality and much worse than Panthers. If they ever buff it´s AT capabilities to be close to the Panther, count me out of the game. What´s needed is cheaper and thus more T-34/85s, not stronger ones.
On one hand I agree...and I do like how Relic has created this thematic difference between the two factions. But at what point does it become a balance issue if you're requiring the one player to micro more units to achieve the same level of unit effectiveness. |
