The number of people SEARCHING as a faction does reflects which faction is more POPULAR. Said that it only shows when there are continuing trends of more people searching as that faction. These pattern dont show people that only play one side or which people switch sides to get a quicker game due to a longer que.
so the number does GENERALY shows axis is more popular due to the continuing trend of higher percentage of player seaching as axis at any given time.
The end
Yes, Axis is more popular, but not by a 4 to 1 margin like the search stats might suggest if you apply faulty logic to them.
As I mentioned in my first post, it's not so much the Con spam as it is the unrelenting armor that Soviets can field via call-ins and no teching (via the Advanced Warfare commander). Your opponent in this match teched T1 (or T2, actually not sure), then T4 for an SU-85. The teching cost didn't give him a huge fuel advantage, and the SU-85 was on odd choice.
It would be one thing if the Soviet's lack of tech put them at a significant early/mid game disadvantage (less fuel), but it really doesn't. I think it's a little too easy for a Soviet player to split the map with an OST/OKW player using just Cons (upgraded with ppSH) until they have their CPs for the single T34-85 call in. And when they do, they've managed to save up so much fuel, that they can be super aggressive with them and keep calling them in as needed.
You can target specific unis from buildings, right? At least the game makes it seem like you can. Click on a building with an MG in it, right click on an enemy unit, and it will fire at it. This seems to work, though it can sometimes be hard to tell which squad they're actually targeting.
I wonder how this works when the enemy unit is not in range. If another one of my units is giving me sight on an approaching enemy infantry squad and I click the building, then right-click the enemy squad...will they at least face in the right direction (even though they can't shoot yet)?
I don't play USF, but as an OKW player who has lost plenty of Panthers while trying to hunt down a Sherman, only to be surprised by a Jackson supporting from the rear, I agree with some of the earlier posts that recommend this strategy. Keep your Sherman(s) alive until you have a Jackson on the field. Don't let him see the Jackson until its too late.
This is totally dependent on your innate RTS skills. I barely play and still smash fools.
And I play a bunch and get smashed by fools. So yeah, there's definitely truth to this statement.I wish I picked a game to really like that I was actually good at.
If I get it, it's usually after a Panther. This is rare as most games don't last long enough for this. So it's usually only in close games where the VPs are getting traded back and forth.
That being said, if I've managed to keep my infantry based AT alive and have a Panther out, I'll get a Sturmtiger. I find it more useful against USF as I'm not terribly worried about their late game armor. I'll use it against Soviets if I just managed to take out some of their armor and am confident I won't be seeing any more for a while.
It's great for late game saves where you just can't afford to give away a VP as I did in this game:
Im a good soviet, and I do this all the time. Believe me. ALL THE FUCKING TIME!!!!!
Remember this shit, MG34 is really fucking good, HT is shit if used bad. If used correctly, DEFENSIVELY, then it's really fucking good! - you lose to that shit. That's why I always pick partisans with this, cause you can surprise AT-nade the HT and then kill it with shreck/PTRS and AT-nades from cons... - Check my stream, I literally do this, EVERY DAMN DAY :3
I'm sure I'm not the OKW player who's wondered why raketens kept magically appearing at my T1 buildings rally point.
1. Select Volks squad to reinforce (accidentally and unknowingly select the T1 building).
2. Spam the R key to reinforce.
3. Wonder what's taking so long for them to reinforce.
4. Wait another 30 seconds.
5. Notice three raketens standing around with nothing to shoot at.
have you thought about using a jagdpanzer? With it's 60 range it is very good on open maps.
That was actually my plan going in, Ostwind and Jagpanzer, but I decided against it once I realized that I'd be facing an neverending supply of T34-85s, figuring I could have gotten flanked easily. But yeah, that would have been better than the second Ostwind (in hindsight) and going T4 for the Panther as it would have allowed me to play more defensively.
