Hey fuckers, we all know that cons work just fine! |

Seems like some people are running out of money.

Thanks guys, this is the feedback I was looking for.
Yeah, most of the people in multiplayer are leagues above where I am. I've played this game off and on for about a year (mostly Spearhead mod games vs. friends) and only recently got into multiplayer, so it was a huge paradigm shift compared to the game I'm used to.
Oh god I hate that word... Paradigm

I recall one replay where a player had 222 bulletins and he did nothing but spam 222s. I t was fun to watch and his opponent was really salty.
Today I think the 222 is slightly underperforming for its price. I wouldn't mind seeing a slightly cheaper 222, maybe if it cost 20mp and 5F less.
I dunno, I find it really hard to discuss balance in certain areas ^^
But I think I agree regarding the reduced cost. I think that would be a healthy change :3 |

Basically they would shoot certain enemies just like a tank would, the projectile would be quite fast and actually hit vehicles.
Here is an example from the m8 in a game where giap uses the vehicle pretty well. Scott was ridiculously good at release(even though few realized it) but I do think it was something cool and different that they could change how they fired which added to the units depth.

Pack howie and ISG weren't quite as fast but they at least kinda worked as soft AT, which was intended and why they were so expensive and couldn't retreat to begin with(you can't retreat AT guns)

The total sales is not a good number to judge the financial performance. There are 3 reasons why we cannot calculate the potential revenue:
• Games had $30-$40 copies for pre-order on cdkeys/g2a/kinguin.
• Game had multiple sales, including 50% offs.
• Game was in the monthly bundle, where developers of 6 games get share no more than $9 among per bundle. It is very likely that the revenue from those copies was no more than $3 for Sega.
The game bombed. It took 5 years to build, in my previous post I explain how it is reasonable to assume that Relic's operating costs are no less than $10m/year. There is an additional cost for marketing and promotion for Sega. Also, Games Workshop either charges a massive flat fee or some kind of royalties per copy sold.
Even if you give the insanely generous and unrealistic $30 revenue per copy (it is unlikely more than $18 in my estimate), Relic has made less than $17m from the Dawn of War 3 so far. Relic has no additional tools to monetize DoW3. The community has abandoned the game, the game is kind of mediocre, the sequel to DoW3 is financially suicidal.
In conclusion, Sega lost a lot of money funding Relic to build DoW3, because DoW3 was a bomb both financially and killed the franchise.
I liked this post a lot. Good points and I dig the intellectual level when it comes to presenting data and points. |
