What I mourn most about Ost is the possibility to have a Flame HT while also being able to refresh your troops.

Does anybody remember that originally (I think for the first 1-2 years) T34/85 always came in pairs?

I think there was only one commander that was able to call one single T34/85.

To be honest I kind of miss the game from its original beta. The game felt like a giant "screw you" which fit the eastern front really well. Taking ground and fighting in the horrible snow with incredibly OP stuff on both sides was quite the slugfest and I still have fond memories of it. I played mostly Ostheer in beta and I loved how despite having the best of everything back then soviets just had raw numbers. It was fun.

I remember having to fallback 3-4 gren squads the minute a squad of shock troopers got close (because they were literally bulletproof). Or how a panzer 4 was incredible, up until it got rammed by a dirt cheap tank. Good times.

Completely forgot about that. I remember now, they added the Advanced Warfare commander who featured the single T34/85 and that was a huge deal. How far we've come.

Should i tech and get a single T34-76 or should i wait a few CP and get 2 T34-85s for the same cost hmm...

This game really changed a lot through the years and it is part of its charm. So even though I agree it is in really good state right now, I would love to see a mod that allows choosing a point in coh2 history and playing with units, commanders and stats as they were at the time. Of course I know it would be a huge amount of work that only very few would appreciate but I guess one can always dream :D

Player's Concerns:

Blizzards + deep snow + mud (I will fite you on this)
OKW Truck and resource system
OKW Non-doc Sturmtiger in place of PzIV
OKW Kubelwagen suppression (Although occasionally I get a vet 5 kubel)
OKH Panzerwerfer in T3
OKH MG in T1 and Landser in T0
SOV AA HT + Reinforce (synergy with Adv. Warfare PPsH repair blobs)
SOV IS-2 as a low-RoF AI tank instead of Tiger gun stats
SOV Penals flamethrower
SOV ISU-152 having universal ammo
SOV KV-2 being able to fight other heavies

Modder's Concerns:

Certain animation states (T-34-85 hatches)
Modding loopholes ever since I've seen eliw00d's old videos

Also adding USF Elite Infantry to the list where you received a Vet1, sometimes even Vet2 Rifle squad from the first second, while you could also start building the second one immediately. Meaning you had two Rifle squads (one with Vet2) ready before Ost had finished its T1 building. (MGs where not available in T0 either yet)

Same goes for Ost with its Elite Doctrine (Tiger Ace) where you had to buy some fuel but still you were able to have a Vet 3 sniper for 20(?) fuel.

Also the SdKfz 221 which has been removed from Multiplayer completely. The 221 was the 222 without the cannon (MG only) that was completely useless and you still had to pay 50Mun to 'convert' it to a 222. Which was also completely useless.

Also just throwing in Fuel/Mun converting for OKW which has probably been mentioned here as well.
In the Beta OKW was also only able to build their HQs in a 'chain' meaning that you could only place a HQ Truck in a territory that lied beneath a territory with a HQ truck as well.

Kübelwagen could suppress when staying still.

ISU didn't have to switch rounds and had 100(??) range.

Sturmtiger as stock unit (has been replaced by Panzer IV). Panzer IV battlegroup also came in pairs only if I remember that correctly.

3 men weapon teams (MG42, Mortar, PaK) for Ost, vs 6 men weapon teams for Sovs.

Female partisans

The old beta barbed wire from soviets. A good idea thats been removed, probably had something to do with squad dancing. ;)

And having multiple super heavies. Sometimes it was fun, but pretty stale on the long run. :D

When i watch and old match , the map appears to be filled with alot more textures showing the attrition over time. Or is it that im so used to minimalistic settings doe to that bad optimized engine?
...having a 1080 and semois still falls into a 30 fps mode if i play it too long lol...

RIP direct fire scott, it used to be ok vs light vehicles :(

Direct fire on ISG and pack howie, its kinda they only reason they were unique.

RE spam being good

Pak cloak at vet 3(pretty sure this was a thing and is gone)

Truck pushing and kubel pressure on the cutoff(when the kubel wasnt OP)

OG air supremecy it was so beautiful :snfCHVGame:

Maybe my memory is shit. But what is direct fire on ISG and Pack Howie? :O

Prior to the most recent patch (and for as long as I can remember) if there was no LOS blockers between the howitzer and the target, the shell would take a low arc rather than a high arc, meaning it would have pritty good accuracy.

Now it just used the high arc and which makes it a crappy mortar with 'long' range barrages.
