From my own personal experience, I think COH2's matchmaking is actually some of the best I've ever seen. I'm remarkably close to a 50-50 win/loss ratio after about 700 games played. This is all 1v1. I suspect balancing teams gets exponentially more difficult as you add more players to a game. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: mg34 needs a price increase or a small nerf2 Sep 2014, 06:05 AM Don't underestimate the importance of damage output of an HMG. The lack of damage the MG34 puts out means that squad can get suppressed/pinned and stay there for a long time without much of a penalty (even with a Volks squad picking away at it all the while). This creates opportunities for other flanking squads. Compare that to a maxim where a suppressed squad starts dropping models every few seconds at medium range and closer. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: OKW lame question2 Sep 2014, 05:55 AM Vet is based on damage inflicted and received. More expensive units require more damage inflicted/received to vet up. I'm not sure if this is completely linear or adjusted on a per unit basis...but in any case, this is basically true across the board. Anyway, when an infantry squad captures/re-crews a vehicle, their "damage score" is "recalculated" for the vehicle and the vet is adjusted accordingly. So a Vet 4 Volks squad capturing an SU-85 might only turn out to be a Vet 1 SU-85. I think this is generally how it works. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...as if that's a problem around here...and by "here", I mean the internet. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: Double sturmpioneers... good? 2 Sep 2014, 05:42 AM I only go double sturms against Soviets. Why? 1) Sturms can close the distance and win against most Soviet infantry, except for Flamer Penals and Shocks. And they can even win against a charging Shock if in green cover. 2) They absolutely tear up Maxims, moreso than any other support weapon team. And since Maxims are currently a staple of the Soviet meta, it only makes sense. Send a Volks squad into the firing cone. Flank with a sturm. In early game, avoid fights with single sturm unless you've totally got the drop on a Con or engie squad. Once the second is built, keep them together and they won't bleed much manpower/need to get reinforced as dual sturmpios should "outbleed" your opponent in any given fight (except for charging 2/3 con squads in cover). Thread: Any (good) use of the Jagdtiger ?2 Sep 2014, 05:31 AM Yeah, Jagdtiger gets a bad rap. Lately, I've been opting for it instead of waiting for a Panther to pretty good results. Just don't overextend with it and practice reversing away from attempted flanks while angling the back end so that its turret is pointing at the enemy. Never click-attack on an enemy tank trying to get behind you. The Jag will just turn in place horrifically slow and you'll be done for. In: OKW Strategies
