Playing the Devil's advocate here but this risks being useless.
Who's gonna waste 300mp and 60muni just to have a good ai squad crippled by a single 100 damage panzershreck?
I'd rather see a dedicated squad recruitable from the HQ, hell even with german at rifles.
It's worth it, cuz sturms get vet faster then which means they become much better at repairing stuff.
As for dedicated squad just use pfusiliers.
I'd like to see the holstered shreck just to make it in line with the sturmpio original concept. Could also be really fun to see a group of sturms suddenly unholstering their shrecks.
No holstered schrecks plz! Play the Ardennes campaign with rangers and you will quickly see it can be quite buggy at times.
Overall nice changes, the only thing I still don't like is the schreck damage nerf.
As an extra argument against the schreck change is that this handheld AT may be used by plenty of stealth units: ostheer doctrines with ambush camo, stormtroopers and AT partisans. All these squads have the option to fire their schrecks at a really close range where the only thing that matters is the damage. (+ambush camo grants a major accuracy buff to schrecks too, making the extra accuracy mostly pointless for them)
Also stormtroopers and AT partisans don't have the option to upgrade with a second schreck, unlike USF with zooks and UKF with piats.
Just a question, how would the Panzershreck upgrade thing work? Can you put it away and it swaps with the minesweeper, or you can put them both away for the 4 stg squad?
I'm pretty sure you will be able to put away the sweeper only, the schreck stays, just like it works in the live version if your sweeper strums pick up a schreck.
Pwerfer change seems like a major nerf to me, doesn't seem more consistent at all, in fact the opposite, and the slow firerate takes away the shock effect. Big no from me.
The recovery is a nice idea, tho I wouldn't make it a stock option. Personally I would use it to replace Relief Infantry and Rapid Conscription commander abilities. Also, the manpower value should be different among factions or unit type recovered, soviets are at an advantage here with 6 men squads.
The stun and snare effect on the railway arty is nice, but the firerate is unrealistic. Imo a single shot with slightly bigger AOE radius could work.
Extra range is ok imo for mortars in trenches, but unsure about passive healing, it should only work if the squad is idle. Otherwise it would easily become more annoying than mortar emplacements.
I don't play 1v1 that often, true, but I usually watch pro casts and still see plenty of 1v1 ostheer victories without ostruppen, assault grens or even infantry company.
As for teamgames I would dislike the idea to have grens instead of the mg in t0, especially when skipping T1.
Diverse - yes. Better - no. Other factions get access to their mgs, snipers, mortars not that much later to make it a significant difference. What makes the difference is the fact that allied infantry will simply become much stronger and durable, which will create imbalance.
Well, if we look at grens alone in early game they are definitely worse, yes, but the team weapons are much better imo. In late game, especially in team games on open maps, lmg gren blobs are quite scary actually, only challenged by bren section blobs (and doctrinal m1919 lmg riflemen blobs).
Good call though, as it is something that's worth considering. They'd lose some of their moving DPS. Replacing their G43s with 4x Gren G43 or 3x PGren G43 would be an unnecessarily large buff. Replacing them with 2x PGren G43 would give slightly worse close range DPS (from ~32 to 26,5) but same mid and better long range DPS as well as better DPS retention (with most DPS concentrated in 2 weapons rather than 3) and better moving DPS (compared to 3 changed Gren G43s).
Actually if we also calculate with with the K98s' dps, then 2x Pg G43s + 3x K98s does the exact same DPS at close range as 3x Gren G43s + 2x K98s. I like this change.
Reduced moving accuracy of Gren G43 so that now three rifles have the same total moving DPS as two rifles had previously.
What's going to happen to the Jaeger Command Squad? They already have 3x grenadier G43s. Are they gonna get a 4th G43? Or maybe they receive Panzergrenadier G43s instead?
