This is the major problem with Obers. (Coupled with the fact that you're usually already loaded on Volks by the time you can get them)
Obers need to be buildable much earlier, in my opinion. As soon as your first truck, honestly. You can get JLI or Fallschirmjager out by that time, and both of those (When the JLI are upgraded) arguably outperform non-LMG Obers.
How overpowering would they be if you could just buy them from the beginning of the game? I expect some of their vet 2 bonus might have to be pushed to vet 3 if that were to happen.
Different topic, but worth its own thread, I like the idea. Perhaps obers could be trained at hq after the first truck was deployed, while lmg is still locked behind panzer authorization. The cost of the schwerer would be split up at for example 90/30 instead of the current 60/60, allowing hetzer, ostwind and perhaps jp to be built earlier. |
I got it while playing automatch. I'm certain that you don't need 15 katys to fire barrages 75 times each, that would be impossible under normal circumstances, you just need a global total number of 75 barrages. However the 30 kills does get counted per katy. Since you didn't get the achievement I assume that the 30 kills may be counted only once per match, in other words if nothing works, then try to get 30 kills with a single katy in 15 different matches. |
True, hence why it includes the highly mobile rifleman field defenses.
Assault (sprint), secure and then hold (building fighting positions and mines), it works that way.
But sprinting with M1919s doesn't. |
One thing OKW could use imo is T0 smoke. All other factions have access to either smoke (mortars or rear echelons), or, in the case of the brits, the UC, which may bring a squad behind an mg42. OKW is limited to flanking vickers or maxims.
Personally I would replace the Sturmpio stun nade with Vet0 smoke, making it more expensive than other factions' smoke nades, while the Vet1 bonus reduces its price to bring it in-line. This is a buff, yes, but at a hefty price in early game. |

Any news about the achievments bug? Would love to try out the 64-bit client more, but not when it's resetting my hard-earned achievments, that's not fun.
Some achievements can no longer be obtained by normal means as the corresponding units were removed (like the irregulars and weapon specific partisans), tho with some mods (such as all units mods) you can still obtain them.
But even then there are some achivements that are impossible to get, like the hidden valentine day event achievement as Relic will probably no longer enable that event.
In other words I would say don't sweat trying to get them as the system is broken and cannot be 100%-ed. |
M1919 lmg and sprinting won't work well together. But I like the idea of a thompson upgrade for riflemen.
But even then the doctrine could use some munition and fuel booster, like a supply truck similar to the ostheer opel or the okw 223. |
I also agree that falls need some rework, both as an user (even tho its fun mowing down any infantry opposition with them) and opponent (very annoying to deal with them). In fact with all 4 models alive with 4 fg42s do more dps at long range than an ober squad with a single lmg34 (tho they lose their dps much faster with each model lost) and do significantly more damage at close range, only slightly worse than stg obers (if we don't account their anti cover bonus).
Personally I would put more emphasis on falls' camoflage ability, allowing them to stay invisible for a short duration after leaving cover, while generally reducing their effectiveness in regular combat. Perhaps they could regain their faust then too. In essence I would make them more similar to stormtroopers and commandos in use. |
Did you use the vanila or the 64 bit beta version? I would assume the latter may be buggier in this regard.
Other than that there is not much hope that ToW missions will ever get looked at, the official devs abandoned the game long ago (at least in terms of adding or fixing content) and the community balance team is only involved in adjusting online gameplay. |
I really don't like Rifle. The M4A3 HVS- sorry I mean E8 - is a lame feeling unit that is very expensive for being essentially a AT vehicle that is worse than the M36. It could use some abilities to spice it up. Maybe a shell switch or something.
Also rifle IMo needs a new ability, maybe the flares and sprint should be bundled and they can add Cavalry Riflemen...
I heard remarks that Rifle company is considered to be the most munition starved usf commander, which I can agree with. Plus the E8s require far more fuel and it is questionable wether it is really worth it over regular sherman + jackson combo. Imo this doctrine could use a resource generator vehicle, similar to wehrmacht opel truck or okw 223. |
