Thread: Thoughts on Panzergrenadiers18 Mar 2019, 18:15 PM I took some minutes to read most of the post before. Loving that idea of the mechanized upgrade (bcos pgrens were meant to do that specific role, support mechanized and panzer divisions). Maybe that is enough is that is considered a reasonably small buff. Pzgrens are not OP nor UP, they lack of propper place as mainline inf and thats why they dont compete for that role. But they do have a shock value, a turning point within OST inf. When you see them coming you know its CQC time, also meanwhile grens take distance, pzgrens rush on. The fact pzgrens are so expensive for their prupose makes them a "situational" rather "in masse" solution and one not to be spammed. Thats pretty fine as it is. The G43 plus AT package sounds good too, but to give pzgrens all 3 upgrades simultaneously i find it a little OP. Would be interesting because you will have like 250 muni on a single squd prone to be wiped blow up anytime since most allied heavy explosive and tanks are there already. Still some doctrinal restrictments would be neccesary. Im very neutral about buffing pzgrens, they are OKish for me In: COH2 Balance

I mean, if a sniper gets an ability to spot for a B-4 and then give all the prior said reworks. If it keeps being so random spread to shoot its the same as it is now Sniper used as an example. Look at how badly volks smack around cons over 10mp and 60 Muni. Hell if you include cons side tech volks are essentially cheaper and yet they own cons. Meanwhile I invest 120 Muni on each, 300 mp and 30 fuel at the HQ, all for a squad that already costs more to buy and reinforce. Maybe this is more a statement against conscripts than Rifleman. But all I know for certain is volks are too cost effective. you struggle with numbers because you are missing the only one point here. Resources are infinite and they come as time passes by, no extra action involved as AoE would be. Only capping territories and upkeep changes some of them, you knew that already. But costs (manp,muni,fuel) only balances the faction impact and have no relation or whatsoever to other factions similar cost. The only exeption is mainline inf combat and generalist tank combat maybe. Because you care for a resource efficient tradeoff (you trade manpower, not fuel nor muni), on the other side tanks do trade some fuel as efficiency for their role, but again its a really thin line between whos hunting and whos being hunted. Back to costs, USF pays so much for bars because they already have excelent mainline T0 inf with a versatile further weapon upgrade (penals only get AT packages trading some AI, for comparison). Then you slap a couple of BARs to the squad and they become terminators to a similar vet level infantry, and even on correct set ups, they could punch above their weight as volks are said to do. You are upgrading the best infantry and expect to be "cheaper" than other factions mediocre inf, thats flawed logic. Imagine obers being T0, able to upgrade LMG34 and IRstgs at the same time, thats batshit OP, now imagine someone wanting that to be "as cheap as" riflemen double bar upgrade. Mirroring logic as an example, dont go nuts. Cost level each faction timing, amount of troops, resource/objective tradeoff and those decide winning/loosing in a fair balane with other factions In: COH2 Balance

Game mechanis needs a redesign TAnks are not that effective against inf, not he other way around. A single suqd of riflemen wont destroy a P4 unless they have 5 zooks. But on the other way TTK on tanks to inf is pretty big, damage being done mainly by their main gun rather their hull Mgs, wich is the most unlogical thing, unless the tank has HE and is used in a garrisoned building. Is very unlikely to redesign such a deep game mechanic by now. Buy ay least you gave you PoV. In a CoH2 mod, wikinger, all mgs suppress, even the tank ones. This way tanks at least can stop infantry coming frontally. Snares are needed if you dont want tanks to rush in to your base and literally breaking the game. In: COH2 Balance

I don't think their game experience should be neglected. I agree with you, i really do. But there are only two points of view mutually exclusive each other. If you take first priority 4v4, as bananaheld said, skill levels could never be balanced and game balance will suffer from that, take an example looking at nowdays MOBAs and MORPGs. After that 1v1 get completely ruined by stale gameplays and the fun of pro players is taken away, because skill means less. On the other side, 1v1 can be balanced, since it makes the scheme of the game simpler, but also other "not so frequent" units on 1s get automatically transported into the teamgames realm. Its a multi layer balance design, harder to pull off but actually more stable. People learn to play this way and the skill is rewarded In: COH2 Balance

Ostheer used to benchmark that other faction were balanced around, it should become that once more. Great point, as always some benchmark could make game balance clearer to identify. Ost being the benchmark isnt axis bias its simply a balanced faction within itself. SU is next to balanced with an extra offensive versatile perk, next USF being more versatile than offensive, then UKF in defensive and superirity and finally the least equilibried for being mostly about superiority and aggressiveness, hence many people claim it OP, its just their designs In: COH2 Balance

Grens are for dwfensive prupose too using offensively is risky, a hard choice again. Assgrens were the offensive and they got oblivion nerfed. I do not agree with the changes suggest, imo. But at least its a good way to learn the game to discuss about units role and weaknesses In: COH2 Balance
