But where was the pitch forks when Axis spawn with US weaponary, Allies spawning with prototype axis guns, or golden gun skins and imaginary attachments that threw historical accuracy out the window? previous BF titles did just that but there weren't twitter movements attacking the devs for russians spawning with an M16. Apparently with BF5 black people are the kicker (despite most of the british army being indian or black).

Well judging on CoH2 sales with only early war eastern front, also considering the game was trash on release and a broken mess. CoH2 sold 2m units despite that in a year. Now it's around the 5m mark with brits and other facitons added.

if CoH3 is actually good you could expect 3m+ at least, even more long term. That would easily be SEGAs biggest money maker along with Total war.

For a start LMG grens were more than fine in mobile defence meta when allied mainline infantry (yes that included Tommies), guards and penals were stronger. Ost were the strongest faction then, so what changed?

It's a simple fact of AT and early game power spikes, two of ostheers three early AT options against T70/Valentine/AAHT/stuart are muni based. That means if an allied player focuses early game AI infantry like shocks or AI upgrades like USF or Brits then then a light tank that also can counter 222 you have to invest in tellers, shreks and fausts which means you don't have the 200muni to equip three or four lmgs for your grens. You might be ahead in fuel due to his investment but you play defensively due to T70 and his med timing turns similar to yours.

This is on top of healing bunker, flamer on urban maps, maybe sweepers if vs soviets. So what do ostheer pros do? They pick infantry that needs less muni investment in assgrens, ostruppen/pgren builds.

It's not Rocket science, it's a LV meta and despite being the weakest in the LV department Ost are rich in doctrinal tools to pull through. Hence we see their solid pick and win rates last tournament.

Nobody cares for WW2 when it doesn't have the iconic stuff in it

If EA can manage to sell Battlefield 1 with italian and hungarians, the relic can manage to sell CoH3 with afrika wehrmacht, brits, early war US and italians.

All that CoH fans care about is the WW2 setting and good coh gameplay. CoH2 launched without a king tiger or sherman tank after all and still sold well.
